If you are here, we are guessing that you might be expecting a baby, adopting, becoming parents through surrogacy, or fostering a baby for the first time... After all, there are many ways to becoming parents, and we are here to support you on this very exciting, yet at times daunting journey. All our New-born Care Specialists come from a midwifery background, some continuing to work in busy NHS hospitals alongside providing private, one to one care with families. Therefore, the team is very familiar with the "ins and outs" of the Maternity Ward and can prepare you for a hospital birth, if this is what you have decided, or support you in finding the right birthing options for you. Once your baby is born or has arrived home, we can offer you night support to help you establish breastfeeding (or bottle feeding if breastfeeding is not an option for you), help you understand the sleep behaviour of your baby and ease you into parenthood. Unlike most postnatal care out there, we do not ask you to commit to many weeks or months with us! You can book as little or as many nights (or days, or even hours) as you wish, including last minute support, day or night! We understand that it difficult to predict how you will cope in the initial postnatal period and therefore we want to make sure we offer you tailor- made, holistic support. Keeping in mind that this is all new to you, our approach is gentle, kind and non-judgemental while the advice and care we provide you with is all up to date and evidence based using current guidelines and studies. Breastfeeding is at the heart of our care; however, we are aware of the challenges new mothers often meet. We are here to support you and ensure you give it your best shot! It was never going to be a straight forward journey and many things had to happen to get to here, so let’s start at the beginning. My son was born in 2007 profoundly deaf and it changed everything for me, I never knew love like it. Mother and baby groups were hard to come by back then and I spent a lot of time alone just Joseph and I, I was fine with that but I always felt I needed something more. Eventually I managed to get a place at a local class with other Mums and babies, I was so excited to meet other Mums and arrived at my first class so eager. After our first class, I remember feeling so broken, my beautiful baby was just not responsive like others, he had his little hearing aids on but wasn’t able to hear through them until many months later after cochlear implant surgery. I remember thinking this is a sensory class, how do I learn how to play with my baby? I was young and clueless, I felt very alone and parents didn’t talk to me, maybe because they felt awkward I don’t know, or maybe because I was closed off and had already set myself up to fail. I went to that class once more and knew it was not for me, I hated the way I felt and I knew that I never would want anybody else to feel that way. And so it began, as Joseph got older my knowledge of play and communication with deaf children grew. I became so passionate about language development in babies and how important it was as a parent to play, talk and give love. At the age of 13 months, Joseph had his cochlear implant surgery and was able to hear for the first time. It wasn’t like the videos you see of deaf children hearing for the first time, it was a long process, from listening to a series of beeps through a new mechanical device, it was a year of turning those beeps into recognisable auditory sounds. The process took a very long time and by 30 months first words started to emerge, at the age of 7 he had caught up with his peers. Being the Mother of a deaf child still is an epic adventure, that we have to be prepared to stop everything at the drop of a hat, if something major happens to the equipment or there are any signs of infection around the implant site, It is part of our daily life to check equipment, ears and his precious head.

We want to understand what people want from their support, and to make sure that families and friends know how we will help them to make it happen. We offer a unique learning environment for our service users and although support needs may differ, we know that with the right support, people with learning disabilities can live full and meaningful lives. Aims Our aim is for service users to develop competence, respect, dignity, responsibility, independence and to promote their inclusion within the local working community. Working closely with service users we aim to find out what their passions are and wherever possible assist with overcoming challenges and removing barriers in order to enable them to live more fulfilling lives. What we offer Service users are offered the opportunity to develop transferable work skills, enterprise skills, independence skills, practical skills and social skills all within a variety of settings while being supported by qualified staff. Our project includes a café, a licensed bar and a kitchen garden all of which is open to the general public. We also offer a opportunities to develop general maintenance and wood working skills. Service users also have the opportunity to carry out a number of routine domestic tasks to help develop their independent living skills. These include, planning and shopping, cooking meals, basic housekeeping, getting out and about in the community and residential experiences. We support people in developing work and independence skills whilst having fun and making friends. Our aim is to break down barriers and to promote inclusion within the local community.
