Arting Celfio

Baneswell

My name’s Marion Webber and I’ve been working in the field of Arts in Health and more general participatory arts for over a decade. Studies* have proven the benefits of taking part in creative activities that support our daily lives. I founded Arting Celfio during 2020, to enable Healthcare professionals and artists specialising within Arts and Health to collaborate and provide high-quality, tailor-made, person-centered arts projects. I am a practicing artist based in South Wales, with extensive experience in Participatory Arts Practice. This has given me the privilege to work with diverse participants on many commissions resulting in the installation of artworks in both temporary and permanent exhibitions. My art practice and knowledge inform how I collaborate and co-curate projects with Healthcare professionals and fellow artists within the field of Arts in Health. I have an MA (with Distinction - Arts Practice Arts, Health and Wellbeing) and gained a PGCE PcET Teaching Qualification (Post-16 and Adult Education sectors). I deliver creative workshops, informed by reflective practice and a commitment to continued professional development that connects, and provides meaningful activities that value people’s input and stories. I’d love the chance to discuss your ideas for projects, so please drop me an email. The artwork below are examples from my own practice. Baby Week Leeds

baby week leeds

Leeds

Baby Week is a registered charity and aims to bring sectors and services together to promote the best start in life. The initiative was inspired by Brazil’s ‘Semana do Bebe’ (UNICEF 2010), following a visit to the country by Churchill Fellow Lucy Potter. Leeds hosted the first English speaking Baby Week in 2016 and since has had interest from several other towns and cities wanting to host their own celebrations. Since Baby Week became a registered charity, Bradford, Hull, Wakefield, Cheshire and Merseyside have organised their very own take on Baby Week Leeds. In 2019, we were nominated and came in second place as charity of the year by The British Journal of Midwifery Practice Awards (BJM). Over the past six years, hundreds of citywide events have been held with thousands of attendees including parents, expectant parents, practitioners and professionals , and of course babies! Each city hosting the week has the opportunity to celebrate and bring together the work of maternity and early years services, helping to raise awareness of the critical developmental growth stages and a real focus on the 1001 days in order to give every baby the best start in life. Baby Week is organised with Child Friendly Leeds with partnerships involving NHS Leeds, Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Leeds Dads, Public Health, Mumbler, and many more partners across all sectors. To mark the 5 years in 2020, Baby Week Leeds focussed on five of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a focus over the next few years: Good Health and Wellbeing, Reduced Inequality, Sustainable cities and communities, Climate action and No Poverty.

Harry's Boxing Club

harry's boxing club

Harry's Boxing Club is a place anyone can go to get fit and improve their boxing abilities. Run by Harry Skelton, an ex-boxing coach in the British Army, we train in Berkhamsted. Our aim is for everyone to have fun and get involved in the sport! MEET THE COACH Whilst learning to box and coach in the British Army, I had the opportunity to work with a vast variety of men and women. All with similar goals of getting fit and learning a new skill. Whether the intention to compete was there, or whether they simply wanted the fitness, the ethos and values of boxing remained the same and are centered around hard work and effort being the path to achieving greatness. After a while, I was able to put the six-packs and glory aside, and witness the other ways that boxing and fitness was having an effect on people. I observed that when people had a focus and a way to physically exert themselves regularly, there was a massive increase in their mental health and wellbeing. Things that are so massively undervalued like getting a full nights sleep, or having the ‘get up and go’ motivation were the less obvious by-products of regular boxing training and in turn, the soldiers who came to train were much better for it. After leaving the army, I formed an adults boxing fitness club and again, started seeing the same results. The camaraderie of the classes, the family feel, the fitness and the achievement when you complete that next boxing or fitness milestone were leaving people with less stress, more focus and a general feeling of wellbeing.
