About Sumita Sumita is qualified as a Yoga Therapist with Yoga Biomedical Trust and as a Yoga Teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga. She is also a Reiki Master and Bioenergy Therapist. “For me yoga is not a destination… it is a journey” --- Sumita Sumita has been teaching yoga since 2002 and has been practising for even longer. She first became drawn to yoga when fighting her own long-term battle with back pain: she found that modern medicine could only do so much to help her and so, at the suggestion of her GP, she turned to yoga as an alternative therapy. So inspired was she by the simplicity of yoga and the way in which it helped to heal her back, she went on to study and qualify for the Teaching Diploma with the British Wheel of Yoga. Initially her objective was simply to gain more detailed knowledge to help her better manage her own health. However, it was only inevitable that this would lead to her actually teaching yoga for the benefit of others.

I am The London Sound Healer, and I am a Sound Healer and Reiki Master. I have been following a shamanic path since my teens, and I have studied with the Power Path School and Sandra Ingerman, and I am currently deepening my studies with The Sacred Trust in the UK. I have been very lucky to spend time in the Amazon rainforest with the indigenous locals learning about their relationship and medicinal uses with the plants and trees. I am deeply passionate about the healing and transformational power of sound, which is particularly needed at this transitional time on our planet. I trained at The College of Sound Healing, where I am an accredited member, and I work with 432hz crystal bowls and Tibetan singing bowls, along with the gong. I have also trained with sound pioneers Jill Purce and Jonathan Goldman. I heal through sound on a one-to-one basis, and also in groups for sound baths and events for adults and children alike. I am a third generation Healer, following in the footsteps of my mother and grandmother.

As a Yoga teacher she teaches Yoga inspired movement that is slow paced and breath oriented with some elements of strength building. It focuses on finding space and length in a body, connecting to the breath and activating parasym- pathetic nervous system. While practicing postures the students are asked to enquire about the ‘feeling’ sensations in the body. Ashka is also a trained Counsellor. She has found lots of parallel between yoga and Counselling as both can help the clients to focus on the present moment, enhance the ability to observe thoughts and feelings and gain greater self- awareness. In Ashka’s opinion they beautifully complement each other and together they give an opportunity to work in a complementary way with both Body and Mind. We are multidimensional beings and our well being is not only associated with mind and body, To consider ourselves as a whole we need to recognise that we are a part of something bigger, of nature, or universe. Ashka is also a Reiki Master bringing all three dimensions of Mind, Body and Spirit into her work. Ashka has interest in various traditions: Western Esoterism, Mysticism, Yogic philosophy and Buddhism and have trained as a Meditation Teacher and in various yoga styles: Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative and Yin Yoga.
