This licence allows you to fly any single engine non complex certified aircraft
up to 2000kg with a maximum of 4 seats and carry a maximum of 3 passengers.
Since Brexit this licence now only allows you to fly in UK airspace but it is
hoped that with the current negotiations it will revert to allowing you to fly
anywhere in Europe. The course has a minimum requirement of 30 hrs flying, which
includes a minimum of 6 hrs solo, 3 hrs of cross country flying and at least one
solo flight of a minimum 80 nautical miles with one land away at a different
airfield. At the end of the training, you will be required to pass a skills test
with an Examiner. You will have 9 ground exams to pass. These are Air Law,
Meteorology, Principles of flight, Navigation and Radio aids, Flight planning
and performance, Aircraft General knowledge, Human performance and limitations,
Operational procedures and Communications. You will also need have passed a Part
Med LAPL medical before you can fly solo. This can be obtained from either your
GP or what’s known as an AME ( Aeronautical Medical Examiner)
