The Oxford Schools Chaplaincy is a registered charity (no. 1140387) and a member of the Evangelical Alliance. Since 2010 Oxford Schools Chaplaincy has been working in schools around Oxford, expanding from 2015, through a programme of working with and training volunteers in order to offer a wider range of activities. In 2019, we delivered 50 lessons to 1,220 students; provided assemblies to over 800 students, as well as supported Christian groups in 6 schools and organised teacher support events. We have 50 people who have volunteered from 23 churches around Oxford. In 2020/21, we worked to support teachers and students during lockdown, and Coronavirus restrictions. We were able to offer online lessons and assemblies, support teachers in running online Christian Unions, and offer practical and emotional support to teachers and students grappling with the issues raised by the pandemic. Our trustees and patrons invest in all aspects of education and are also involved with the River Learning Trust, the Oxford Diocese and Oakhill College, as well as active in their local churches. OSC has partnered with Wycliffe Hall, OCCA, Innovista, the Oxford Diocese, BeSpace and Gideons in bringing the message of the Christian faith to schools around Oxford. Mick has been doing tai chi for eight years, in that time he has gained much knowledge both internal and external, with very respected teachers. He met his first teacher, Ann Gathercole, under the Longfei Taijiquan Association of Great Britain, she teaches the Yang Style short form, also Chen Style Tai Chi under the Lineage of Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang. He then, after a break away from Tai Chi, found Penang Tai Chi Association who taught the Chen Man Ching Yang 37 step form under teachers Matt & Molly O’Malley but after some thought he decided that he wanted to pursue the Chen Style & found Sifu Clive Spring, who at the time had been teaching for over 35 years in different styles of martial arts, including Chen Style Tai Chi, but after much consideration he wanted to find his first teacher Ann Gathercole again with whom he had been back training with for the last 6 years & has been lucky enough to have also trained with some highly respected teachers along the way. Mick has trained with Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang, Master Chen Bing & Master Chen Yingjun at seminars. Also he has trained with Phil Muil & Emma Westlake who are highly respected teachers who teach the Chen Style & Short Yang Style form at Oxford Chen Bing Taiji Academy. Mick has learned different hand forms and weapons. He has also learned many Qigong forms.

Welcome to Kemp Pilates! I've been teaching Pilates since 2005 and practising it long before. I love how it enables you to create freer movement and get out of pain. It works the whole body from the inside out to create a lengthened body, stabilises the joints, and maintains balance, strength and flexibility. I'm an experienced Pilates teacher, having worked with lots of different bodies. Pilates is perfect for recovering from injury or managing and improving on-going conditions. I'm particularly experienced in working with clients with neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's and stroke. I also work with clients with arthritis, osteoporosis, hyper-mobility, scoliosis, slipped discs and more. As a mum of 4 children I know how Pilates can be invaluable in supporting you mentally and physically. I can liaise with medical practitioners for an integrated approach. With over 25 years of experience in the fields of training and leadership development in both the retail and education sectors I know my stuff. My leadership career began when I worked for a bookshop chain in central London, working my way up to the role of store manager at branches in Baker Street, Earls Court and Holborn at the age of 20. This was followed by a period working as a training manager for Tesco at their first central London store on Oxford Street. My success in this role led to me being seconded to support the opening of Tesco’s flagship store in Kensington, where I helped to lead the recruitment and training of all new staff in preparation for the store’s launch. In 1999 I entered the education sector. I started as a volunteer in a pre-school, then secured a job as a Learning Support Assistant and eventually retrained as a class teacher. In my second year of teaching I took on a curriculum leadership role, which at the time was an unusual move for a new teacher. I’ve spent the last 19 years developing my career and I’m currently the headteacher of a primary school in south London. In 2014 I set up my own publishing company 9:10 Publishing. This was born out of an observation that there were very few books for young black people which were written from a black British perspective. Rather than rely on traditional publishing houses to take up my ideas, I looked into what was required to do it myself. As a result Letters to a Young Generation was born. I currently live in Edinburgh working full-time as a music tutor and performing musician. I graduated with a BA in Popular Music from Edinburgh Napier University where I was able to hone my craft by composing, performing, improvising, and training on the piano and guitar. I have surrounded myself with many great musicians and other piano teachers who keep me inspired and on top of my game. Jazz and popular music is my specialty however, I have studied classical piano and love Bartok, Schumann, Debussy, and Chopin to name a few. Each person has their own desires and reasons for playing music so I do not simply teach from a single textbook. I value good technique and an understanding of music theory but also seek to inspire and foster creativity. I have spent countless hours and hundreds of pounds researching music books and teaching methods. Fully equipped, this allows me to tailor each lesson to the student's aims, allowing them to love playing music while developing their technical skillset. At present, I have around 25 students a week as a private music teacher here at my home, or at their homes. As a live performer, I work with three live performance agencies, WooHoo, Banana Row, and Music For Scotland. They send me bookings for performances at weddings, parties, and corporate and private events across Scotland and the UK. Also, I work with various bands in Edinburgh and Glasgow performing regularly in venues such as The Jazz Bar, Stramash, The Dog House, Uno Mas, The Barony Bar, and Whistle Binkies. I have just finished writing my debut album with my band Sekoya and we recorded this in Memphis, TN in November 2022 at the studio and record label Court Square Recordings. The album is due for release summer of 2023, stay tuned for the album launch event. We are also in the process of making a documentary about the making of the album this should be released around the same time, courtesy of David Hagen Media. Another creative outlet that I spend time working on is my variety performance show, a combination of magic and music mixed in with comedy, to be performed each year as a part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival under the name Luke Closely. If I am not doing this then I am busy at work with Night Owl Shows performing various tribute shows to various famous artists.
