Without greenkeepers, there would be no golf. From the pioneering 'Keepers of the Green' that tended the historic links at St Andrews, Prestwick and Musselburgh to today's highly-skilled and dynamic course managers at the UK's top golfing venues, greenkeepers have shaped and defined this wonderful sport. Every step of the way, there has been an association providing them with support, education and advice. In January 1987 the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) was created due to an amalgamation of the British Golf Greenkeepers Association, The English and International Golf Greenkeepers Association and The Scottish and International Golf Greenkeepers Association. Since then, we've shone a light for the nation's greenkeepers, and 6,000 turf professionals from the United Kingdom and further afield are proud to call themselves BIGGA members. Now over 30 years old, the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association is Europe's largest membership greenkeeping association. BIGGA has made outstanding progress to reach its position as a well-respected and integral part of the golf and turf industries. This progress is due to the dedication of very many members who have contributed voluntarily through committee work and support of BIGGA activity, as well as the team of staff based at BIGGA House and in the Regions. The Association was formed to support greenkeepers and greenkeeping and provide a unified voice for the profession.

Sporting Influence was founded in 2012 with two key aims: To improve the standard of teaching and opportunities in Primary School Sport. To improve key Social Skills through Sport. At Sporting Influence, we firmly believe that teaching sport correctly gives children the best chance in school to develop a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle and the potential to move into secondary school with those important social skills. Our drive to develop well rounded and healthy children is at the core of everything that we do, in every lesson, after-school club, competition or day at our holiday camps. Since the business started we have recruited and invested in our team of teachers and I can confidently say that we have one of the strongest most dedicated teams of experienced professionals across Yorkshire. We are excited to launch our Sporting Influence CIC Foundation fully in 2022 and look forward to making a big difference in the community to children and families in need of extra support. We are proud to say that we now work with: Over 35 schools every week, predominantly working alongside the school’s teaching team to improve their skill set and confidence. We work directly with over 2000 children every week. Our holiday activity Camps continue to grow with over 3,500 children attending over the course of last year.

We work in STEM - the Science and Technology areas anyway. These industries are some of the fastest-paced industries in the world and it’s an honour and a privilege to play our small part in helping progress the education of individuals in the subjects. We have included businesses in the course development, and they are taught by our own industry experts. In Science we have made use of Labster to give delegates a virtual laboratory to “work” in and explore. We utilise this fabulous knowledge base to ensure everything we get involved in is truly pioneering. Kathy King is a Science and Psychology specialist who has worked with a variety of vulnerable groups including young people with special educational needs, including social, emotional and behavioural problems, and the homeless. She is passionate about showing others the power of being active in nature and using outdoor activities as a tool to improve wellbeing. Her research has proven that participation in a 6-week Forest School programme can increase attendance and reduce exclusion rates from mainstream school. Applying the fundamentals of the holistic Forest School approach in all that she does, Kathy believes this can create positive changes in behaviour. Kathy made a life-changing decision to leave teaching and enrol on an outdoor instructor programme after experiencing high levels of work-related stress and anxiety. The 2-day a week course provided an opportunity to master new skills and focus on what she considered to be most important in life. It was on the water that the idea for the Wild Camp Training Programme was born. This is a project aimed at young women who are currently out of education, employment and/or training (N.E.E.T) and is designed to empower and increase physical and mental health. Since then, the charity has evolved to deliver after school clubs, forest school sessions, holiday clubs, 1-1 outdoor activity sessions and group days out.

I am a proud mother of 5 children. I am the founder of Childcare Solution, a quality childcare provider which was established in 2006. Family has always been extremely important to me being brought up in a family of five; My mum, dad and two brothers. As the eldest sibling I remember organising games and activities for my brothers to take part in. I remember organising races with other children who lived on our streets and even initiating small trips to the local marshes and swimming pool. From what I remember Our family extended to that of our neighbours and local community. We were a street of many nations; Irish, Dominican, Pakistani, Ghanaian, Caribbean and English. We shared our various cultures with each other, with music, celebrations and of course food. But the main highlight was, us the children playing together. We valued our similarities and appreciated our differences. We had the freedom to explore, experiment and challenge, even if it meant learning through painful mistakes. I went on to have a family of my own and after working at several childcare facilities it meant everything to me to provide a space for my children and for every child to create many positive memories. It was important that they could call their play environment their own. That they too could feel safe: to play, grow and make mistakes.
