With over 25 years of experience in the fields of training and leadership development in both the retail and education sectors I know my stuff. My leadership career began when I worked for a bookshop chain in central London, working my way up to the role of store manager at branches in Baker Street, Earls Court and Holborn at the age of 20. This was followed by a period working as a training manager for Tesco at their first central London store on Oxford Street. My success in this role led to me being seconded to support the opening of Tesco’s flagship store in Kensington, where I helped to lead the recruitment and training of all new staff in preparation for the store’s launch. In 1999 I entered the education sector. I started as a volunteer in a pre-school, then secured a job as a Learning Support Assistant and eventually retrained as a class teacher. In my second year of teaching I took on a curriculum leadership role, which at the time was an unusual move for a new teacher. I’ve spent the last 19 years developing my career and I’m currently the headteacher of a primary school in south London. In 2014 I set up my own publishing company 9:10 Publishing. This was born out of an observation that there were very few books for young black people which were written from a black British perspective. Rather than rely on traditional publishing houses to take up my ideas, I looked into what was required to do it myself. As a result Letters to a Young Generation was born. Jackie’s unexpected journey from teaching assistant to becoming Headteacher of a large secondary school has taught her what is possible for all of us. Throughout her career in primary and secondary schools, she has had a passion for empowering children and colleagues to find their innate resilience through managing their thinking. This is because she has experienced for herself what happens when we develop the habits of fearless thinking. For this work both nationally and internationally, she was awarded an OBE in 2002. Following headship, she started her own training and coaching company working with a wide range of school and business leaders and their teams. Jackie believes coaching is the most powerful way to help leaders thrive at work and at home. Her own experience has shown her that challenging our thinking habits can make us successful, healthy and happy – in mind and body. Jackie’s inspiring self-development book ‘GROW – Change your mindset change your life’ has recently been republished in the USA and she has written many other books for teachers and school leaders including ‘The Complete Learner’s Toolkit’ which offers lessons in mind management for young people. Jackie loves to deliver inspiring keynotes and workshops that share her own journey and the strategies that create lasting change. Her one to one coaching, delivered in person or online, is truly transformational and includes online support and follow up resources that embed thinking habits that make us stronger and wiser.

Paper artist Susan Beech creates beautifully delicate crepe paper flowers and botanicals from her home in Hove, UK. She founded her studio A Petal Unfolds in 2016. Each flower and botanical piece is unique, with every petal cut from the finest crepe papers and intricately shaped by hand. Ink, pastel and paint is often used to create a soft gradation of colour. She also takes inspiration from photographs and botanical publications in order to create a realistic piece. Her fine artistry has led to commercial projects with the Financial Times and Liberty London amongst others. Oxfordshire Chinese Brush Painting Group (OCBPG) was set up about 6 years ago by a group of enthusiasts who wanted to learn more about this fascinating art form, and practise their developing skills together. The aim of the group is to promote Chinese Brush Painting in all its’ forms. We do this by meeting regularly, holding workshops, talks and visits and organising exhibitions of members’ work. In addition, we organise a programme of day workshops from experienced Chinese Brush Painting tutors throughout the year. In 2018 and 2019, we held one day Workshops, including one with the international artist, Qu Leilei, one of the original members of the Stars Art Movement in China in the 1970’s and 80’s. In 2018, we began exhibiting our work and have several exhibitions planned in the future. We hold regular monthly meetings on the fourth Thursday of the month from 1pm to 4pm in the excellent facilities of Stanton Harcourt Village Hall. Here, you can get support from friendly like-minded people, borrow books from our excellent Library, and, we are beginning to stock some basic Chinese Art Supplies for members to buy at cost. David Simon is an author and educationalist. He is the author of the Genius series that includes the best-selling books How to Unlock Your Child’s Genius and How to Unlock Your Genius Using Black History. He co-founded Simon Education in 1987 which has gone on to support over 6000 African-Caribbean families in the UK. He has won numerous awards as an educationalist and a novelist/poet, including the Peterloo Poetry Award. Inclusion Expert’s founder, Daniel Sobel, is an internationally respected leader in inclusive education and has advised the DfE, the EU and governments abroad. Daniel is a well-known speaker, writes regularly for publications including Headteacher Update and The Guardian, and is the author of several books including Narrowing the Attainment Gap. Daniel left school with no A Levels and read his first book aged 18. Gradually he fell in love with study and managed to secure a place on a Master’s course in Education Psychology. He went on to take four graduate courses in Psychology and Education, eventually running out of money in the middle of doctoral training. Daniel moved to full time teaching and quickly became a SENCO. Dismayed by how much of the job was pointless meetings and paperwork, he started designing tools to better support his students. During a stint as Assistant Head he continued to develop simple systems to help teachers manage information and maximise the impact of their interventions. Realising that many teachers were struggling with inclusion, that his ideas really worked, and that there was an opportunity to make a difference to children across the country, Daniel left teaching, somewhat hesitantly, to form Inclusion Expert. Lilyput Lane is a cute, child sized street perfect for role playing and imaginative play. The ‘Lane’ has a police station, house, beauty salon, café, shop, vet and doctors surgeries. All rooms are fully equipped with related toys so children can embrace each theme. There is also a train table where children can build their own train tracks to play with and a car table where they are able to drive the toy cars.
