Stonebridge Associated Colleges is a team of bright and motivated people dedicated to helping learners fulfil their potential and meet their career goals. Set up in 1995, Stonebridge Associated Colleges was initially intended to help people qualify in complementary therapies, such as reflexology and aromatherapy. Gradually, it moved towards more mainstream practices such as teaching, nursing, healthcare, business, nutrition and beauty. Some of the students we helped went on to study Marine Biology at university. Others have chosen teaching assistant courses that have landed them an early promotion. As their needs diversified, so did our curriculum. Two decades later the college became a leading name in the world of further education. Today, Stonebridge Associated Colleges has training facilities in Bude and Birmingham for a few of our vocational courses where our experienced tutors bring a hands-on approach to the teaching. However, there are over 650 online courses that can be completed remotely from anywhere in the world. I have always been interested in communication and languages, so I gained my initial degree in teaching Hungarian language and literature both to native speakers and as a foreign language. I have taught in different countries – in Hungary, Serbia and Switzerland – committed to continuous learning and development. However besides language acquisition I am also interested in brain and personality development so I have specialized in UK in Early Years Development. I grew up with my mums much younger sister who was diagnosed with autism, so I always had a loving heart for children and people living with special needs… Whilst studying neuro diversity I discovered that I was a child with all symptoms of ADHD… and at some point I had to realise that it never went away… I still do have it… I have started reading and taking notes about it, and now i can claim with confidence that I know this type of condition inside out… I have worked in nurseries as an Early Years Teacher and later as a nursery Manager. After studying at the Metropolitan University and gaining the Diploma in Teaching Adult Learners I have taught Early Years Childcare to Practitioners as a Tutor/Assessor in wide variety of settings in London. Apart from creating a relaxed and joyful environment where active learning can take place, I am passionate to help and motivate people in every possible way, so I have also studied a variety of Holistic Coaching and Healing methods as well as Event Management. I have participated in the organization of international festivals, several exhibitions, artisan fares, fashion shows and holistic healing days. During the lock down I was approached by many parents who asked me for help with variety of issues. I have decided to organise the Happy Parent = Happy Child Online Conference and have gathered over 30 professionals to support families, children and parents.

Behavioural Educational Services was established in 2000, and is now celebrating 13 years of home & school programme success, during which we have worked in partnership with families, local authorities, educational professionals, and national children's charities For the past 13 years, BES has provided CABAS® based early intensive interventions designed to increase the skills and abilities of children and young adults with special needs through the systematic use of applied behavioural analysis (ABA). ABA has a proven record of success with individuals with a diagnosis of autism and ADHD, as well as developmental, communication, and behavioural disorders. Early intensive intervention provides children with special needs the greatest possible chance at future mainstreaming, while also helping them achieve their highest intellectual, social and emotional potential. BES designs and supervises ABA home and school programmes that are based on theories of development and learning that focuses on variables that are observable, while also proposing a flexible research methodology that can benefit all children. Behaviour analysis benefits equally from its assessment methodologies, which emphasise factors that maintain or influence a child’s behaviour, as it does from its intervention procedures, which focus on the quality of implementation, effectiveness and social validity of the programme. In addition to our ABA work, BES are providers of Fast ForWord®, a learning acceleration programme based on over 30 years of neuroscience research, that helps develop the cognitive skills required to enhance learning. Strengthening these skills can result in a wide range of improved critical language and reading skills such as phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, decoding, working memory, syntax, grammar, and other skills necessary to learn how to read or to become a better reader. Fast ForWord® includes several training programmes that are individually adaptive and interactive computerised language-learning programmes that incorporate the latest neurological research in brain plasticity. These intensive, computerised programmes are designed to help leaners increase the rate at which their brains can process auditory information, which then enhances abilities in communication, reading, writing, and spelling.

I live in Birmingham with my Partner James and my 3 wonderful Children - Flynn, Coel and Phoebe. I have enjoyed signing with my older sister, through my work - working with children/adults with additional needs and A/autism and with my own children! Using baby signing with my children (starting with Flynn in 2001!), it helped them to tell me what they wanted/needed or how they were feeling. Baby signing boosted their confidence, helped them to be included and lessened their frustration! It really is amazing when your baby can start a 'conversation' with you about something that they are interested in! My children could tell me so, so much with their signs, before they were physically able to tell me with their voices - just wonderful! They were all super keen to say the words that they were signing too, which eventually happened in abundance! Flynn and Coel are both now very articulate, happy boys, who are proud to still be able to sign. My Daughter Phoebe is now 5 and she adored her Sing and Sign journey! She really is an avid dinosaur fan and I believe that she could actually talk the hind legs off a donkey (or T-Rex), telling you all the dinosaur names! She has started school now and as with her brothers, her teachers are amazed at her astounding vocabulary and she proudly shares her signing! It really is a magical and wonderful skill to learn together and one that can be taken on through life too! My work prior to this has always been promoting rights and inclusion - why shouldn't little ones have this too?! I study British Sign Language (BSL) also and I am currently at Level 3 and I am passionate about Deaf Awareness too. Being so passionate about communication and baby signing lead to me wanting to tell the World! - well Birmingham at least and so I bought my own little bit of Sing and Sign! I am very excited and happy to be able share Sing and Sign with you!

WELCOME TO DURHAM TRINITY SCHOOL AND SPORTS COLLEGE Welcome to Durham Trinity School and Sports College. We are a generic special school educating pupils 2-19 years of age, with autism or profound, moderate, severe or complex learning difficulties. Some pupils also have additional medical, physical, sensory, linguistic or behavioural difficulties. All pupils at Durham Trinity School and Sports College have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). Durham Trinity is a relatively new purpose-built school, situated on the outskirts of Durham City Centre. The pupils have access to specialist rooms and facilities such as ICT suite, sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, and a design Technology room. We are developing Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) areas; to allow them to access the curriculum and thrive in their interests and strengths. From September 2019, the school have introduced a 3-curriculum pathway to ensure the needs of the diverse school population are met academically, emotionally and physically; whilst providing challenge and support to ensure they are prepared for the next stage in their development, towards adulthood. We are a Sports College, providing an excellent provision that develops pupils’ physical skills and mental wellbeing, educating them about leading a healthy lifestyle, whilst having fun! Pupils have opportunities to access non-competitive and competitive sporting activities throughout the school year. We provide a Further Education Unit (FEU- Post 16) on site where the excellent provision continues until they are 19 years of age. Our greatest resource is the staff. They are supportive and highly skilled in SEND, supporting pupils throughout the school day to ensure they achieve their goals and become as independent as possible. Together with pupils, families and other agencies, we work together for the best outcomes for our pupils.
