Edward is committed to supporting people move towards wholeness and the role education can play in this process. Edward researches mindfulness, integral and transpersonal psychology and well-being as both a member and convenor of postgraduate research at the Centre for Research in Human Flourishing (University of Nottingham). An avid reader, he is particularly inspired by the writings of Adyashanti, Stanislav Grof, Bernardo Kastrup, Gabor Maté, Rupert Spira, Alan Watts and Ken Wilber. Edward has written numerous articles, book chapters and books on these topics himself. Edward has been rigorously trained, he received a First Class (Hons) Degree in Education and Art from the University of Exeter in 1998 and a PhD in Peace Education and Sociocultural Theory from the University of Birmingham in 2003. Edward is a qualified mindfulness teacher, trained by Patrizia Collard/Enter Mindfulness, a Life Coach and a SoulCollage® Facilitator. He has taken the core modules of the Grof Transpersonal Trainer (GTT) Programme, covering the paradigm of Holotropic Breathwork, The Power Within (Bodywork), Music & Transcendence and Spiritual Emergency. He has also taken elective modules in Jung, Alchemy & The Transformation of Consciousness, and Inner Ethics/Soul Collage. This training has been supplemented by further training from the TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) College and the College of Sound Healing . As part of ongoing quality assurance, Edward receives regular supervision in mindfulness, TRE® and Holotropic Breathwork®, actively researching all of these fields, attending regular conferences, courses and retreats to ensure his work and guidance is informed by deep inner experience and the latest research and good practice. Edward is also a member of the Association for Spiritual Integrity and follows their honour code of ethics and good practice for individuals. Edward has attended a Quaker meeting all of his adult life, adopting a contemplative and universal approach to spirituality. He has served as both a Clerk and Elder to his local. 'Clerkship' involves engaging contemplative approaches and discernment to make spiritually-informed group decisions. Edward continues to practise art, focusing on contemporary altars, shrines and portraiture drawing upon studies at the University of Exeter and the Slade School of Art, London. His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, winning the prestigious Attenborough Prize in 2011. Edward accepts commissions and much of his work is available for sale. Artwork can be an excellent tool for integration and creativity is employed to help with this process in many of Edward’s courses and workshops.

Judo, which means "gentle way" is a martial art that was born in Japan, and it is now known around the world as an Olympic sport since 1964. Judo was established in 1882 by combining jujitsu, a form of wrestling, with mental discipline. It is the most widely-practiced martial art in the world, and the second-most practiced sport worldwide behind football SCORING Ippon is the best in that it results in immediate victory and can be achieved by throwing an opponent in such a way as to make then land on their back. Alternative methods of scoring ippon include trapping an opponent in an armhold or stranglehold to the extent that it forces them to submit or immobilising an opponent on the floor for at least 20 seconds.The next best score is a Waza-ari, which is a half point in that the award of two waza-ari in a bout is the same as ippon, and hence the winner is declared. Waza-ari is awarded for lesser throws than those scoring ippon, and for immobilising the opponent for less than the time required to score Ippon. Jigoro Kano From the twelfth to the nineteenth century Japan was ruled by the samurai, a class of professional soldiers. This provided fertile ground for various martial arts to develop. In addition to fighting with swords and bows and arrows, the samurai developed jujitsu to fight enemies at close quarters on the battlefield. Several different styles of jujitsu evolved, and hand-to-hand combat spread as an important form of military training. The era of samurai rule came to an end with the Meiji Restoration of 1868, and Western culture began filtering in into Japanese society. Jujitsu fell into decline, but the enthusiasm of one young man rescued it from extinction. That man was Jigoro Kano, the founder of judo as we know it today. Kano excelled in schoolwork but had an inferiority complex about his small physique. So he became an apprentice of Yanosuke Fukuda, a master of the Tenjin Shin’yo school of jujitsu, when he was 17 and worked to become stronger. In May 1882, when he was just 21 years old, he took the best things about each jujitsu style and created a single new school. This was the birth of modern Judo.

Most students are between 18 – 24 years old and the length of a typical stay is 4 – 6 months. In Denmark we have a long Folk High School tradition – the first school was founded in 1844. What is an international Folk High School? More and more international students attend the Danish Folk High Schools, but what classifies an international Folk High School is that the school has more international than Danish students and that everything at the school happens in English language. International People’s College is the only international ‘general’ Folk High School in Denmark.

2021 sees Corinne's Creative Kitchen going from strenght to strength. We work with flavour in our kitchen. Our products are completely natural using the best quality local ingredients with no additives or preservatives and produced in small batches. Our spices mainly come from India. We are quite fussy about this as we try to recreate the exotic flavours, the essence of Indian home food. Indian dishes, snacks, sauces and pickles are our main products but we also supply a small selection of Thai dishes. When the pandemic hit in 2020, we decided to add an extra string to our bow by creating a completely new 2-person portion menu with an international flavour. These have been taken up very well and have brought in a new customer base. This menu changes regularly, but already there are some ‘cannot remove’ favourites. Living in The Garden of England, we are almost obliged to produce some chutneys and jams from the local fruit in the gardens around us. But, as we favour the exotic, in 2020 we started producing cordials such as Spiced Crab apple, Grape & Hibiscus and Apple & Bramble, to name a few. Our Lemon & Ginger is a MUST for your Gin! We simply do have to mention our home-made Indian Mustard and Horseradish Mustard, hand-made in small quantities that go ‘oh so well’ with roast beef and other meats. We have run cookery classes since 2008, as I love teaching people how to cook good Indian home food. Since 2020 our classes are on ZOOM and I AM LOVING IT! I can now reach so many more people. I run single classes with a theme but my mainstay is a 6-course weekly class which gives a very good grounding and covers chicken curry to fried fish, with options for using vegetables instead of meats. We continue with our delivery service to a few farm shops and directly to the public. Now in mid-2021 we are starting to cater quite regularly for small parties as everyone comes out to celebrate those special birthdays or just catching up with friends. You can find us on Faversham market on the 1st and the 3rd Saturday of every month. We hope to meet you somewhere and tantalize your taste buds with our delicious dishes.

Fran Carpenter is the Managing Director of Frantic Productions Ltd. Frantic was formed in 1998. A prolific writer of school music resources and Christmas nativity plays and musicals, Fran has more than 20 years' experience of teaching early years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 as a music co-ordinator and specialist class music teacher. Fran's catalogue of school musicals and music education resources is growing all the time, and her nativity plays and musical productions have been performed worldwide in thousands of primary schools. Fran also worked for several years in school television and educational video production. She worked as a member of the producer's team on a series of BBC's Look and Read and on a TEFL video for Pearson Education, and was a co-writer of the accompanying teachers' resource packs. She is a member of the Orff Society UK and much of her music for children is inspired by the creative Orff approach to music education. In addition to her writing work, Fran runs music workshops in nurseries and schools and CPD teacher training courses for music hubs and teacher training colleges. These courses are highly regarded and provide teachers and students with a whole host of ideas for creative music making with early years and primary children. East Belfast Yacht Club was founded by workers from the Belfast Shipyards in 1904, and has enjoyed both the high and the low years through its existence. From the high points through the 1920s/30s/40s and '50s when the Club hosted many sailing races and entertained the owners and masters of the massive J-Class yachts down to the more plentiful and massively supported Belfast Lough one designs through to the Flying Fifteens and Dragons and others of the various periods. The Club was previously situated at the head of Belfast Lough near the now defunct oil refinery on the South shore but has been based on the present site in Sydenham Embayment between The Belfast City Airport and Victoria Park since 1939. More recent activities have been more towards the Cruising side of Yachting with boats being built and refurbished at our base at Sydenham Embayment and used to cruise the Inland Loughs, the Irish Sea, The Med' and indeed through Europe and across to the America's. We have become established as the main non professional producer and knowledge base for boats built from Ferro-cement in Ireland, and have had visitors from many countries in Europe who wished to avail of our knowledge on the subject. A past Member and his good lady were the first to introduce the method to Sydenham around 1970 and through a system of trial and error and the study of other builders down through the years we have had boats built by our members using just about every method known. Current build numbers are somewhere in the 30s, some of which have been own designs and some modifications of existing designs.
