My Friendly Neighbourhood Dance Studio. As someone who as been teaching and working alongside children and young people for 25 years, I genuinely believe I have the most privileged and fun job in the world. Being an educator and innovator through dance and movement has not always been straightforward; however, the rewards have always far outweighed any struggles. Simply seeing a kid dart across the floor smiling, creating a silly move, or an aspiring dancer suddenly find their confidence to shine. Priceless. Teaching and nurturing the next generation is a responsibility I don’t take for granted. These dancers are someone’s son or daughter, and it’s a teachers job to guide them and do right by them. I’ve always seen teaching as a two way learning stream; me teaching and inspiring the dancers, and in return the dancers inspiring and teaching me. Over the years, I’ts been a blessing to have met and worked alongside talented young people and professionals and been involved in some unforgetable creative projects and performances. These life changing experiences drive me to keep creating and sharing this energy with other children and young people. Having to evolve, think on one's feet and reflect on how to approach a project, a personality, or simply, how best to deliver the next class is an educator's creative responsibility. Being a dancer and teacher taught me to be innovative, present, and reflective and surrounded me with laughter and creativity. All of the above is not only positive for my mental health and well-being but reflected in the children, young people, and now adults I teach at Smikle Dance Studio. My vision for Smikle Dance Studio was to create a friendly and welcoming space where my personality and body of work could continue to flourish and grow. I feel like my studio is me. Alan Ramsden started flying at Shobdon Airfield in 1977 – initially on aeroplanes with a view to becoming a fixed wing instructor. However, after a 5 minute pleasure flight in a B206 JetRanger, where he first experienced the thrill and excitement of helicopter flight, Alan was hooked. He went on to sell his house, his car and his share in the family business in order to raise the funds to become a commercial helicopter pilot and instructor! He founded Tiger Helicopters in 1992 and, together with the Tiger Team, has helped develop both the Helicopter school and Shobdon Airfield. Achievements One of the team's proudest achievements came in 2005 when we acquired our first overseas contract. This was to train the next generation of Police Helicopter Pilots for Kuwait. With a 100% success rate, a further contract to train Police Helicopter Pilots for Algeria was awarded to Tiger. This contract of over 10,000 flying hours, was completed in 2012 without a single accident or incident. We are extremely proud of this and it is a huge credit to all of the Tiger Team. Future Ambition The UK School is growing as the UK’s economy recovers from a difficult recession. We remain firmly committed to our UK school and it is great to see an upturn in students coming through our doors, ready for the excitement and challenge of helicopter flight! Many of our students travel great distances to train with us, which is very humbling. Hopefully it’s because of our world class facilities and excellent instruction. We now offer Helicopter Pilot training to individuals, large companies and Governments. We take individuals from never having flown before, all the way up, to being Commercial Pilots and Flight Instructors. The global demand for helicopter pilots is increasing rapidly. Tiger’s ambition is to keep re-investing in the business to help meet this growing need. Currently our capacity is 60 overseas students as well as a thriving UK school. As for the future? We are passionate about working hard to train and inspire our coaches to help the next generation of gymnasts that come through the door. All of coaches are trained to a high standards through a variety of courses to enable the gymnasts to have the best experience with us. We are working on our coach development to enable the club to expand the number of sessions we run throughout the year to address the demand for this amazing sport. EGC offers a range of gymnastic disciplines including Women’s & Men’s Artistic, and Adult Gymnastics and Pre School Gymnastics for those who would like to give gymnasts a try. Anyone is welcome to come and visit the club, to meet the coaching staff and see what we are all about, we are very proud of our club and facilities. Who Are We? We are based in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire offering access to Gymnastics, and fitness activities for children and adults of all abilities at an affordable rate. Managed as a non-profit business the company uses funds raised to further the aims of the club – for example purchasing new equipment, assisting with coach education or subsiding event costs for gymnasts. We receive no long term funding from the Local Authority to meet our running costs. As a result all of our operating costs are met exclusively by the fees from our members, the dedication, time and commitment from our volunteers and through the fundraising efforts of the club, staff and parents.

Being a teacher of Wing Chun is a big responsibility and one I am proud to have. I feel it's important you know a little about my family and my background, as we all have our own stories to share, and it explains the reason I started training and still train today. 8 years old I started training with my dad. My Father was a complicated man, he was in the army for 28 years during which time he was involved in many conflicts ranging from Ireland to the gulf. Starting as a rifle man in 3 RGJ Royal Green Jackets, he joined at 15 years old by lieing to the recruitment office and geting away with it. He quickly moved through the ranks and became an SAS soldier, British Army boxing champion and left the army as a captain and intelligence officer. My Father also helped train Andy McNab who later became famous for an SAS operation called Bravo Two Zero where he was captured behind enemy lines. The chief of general staff (CGS) and commander of the British Army's land forces Sir Richard Dannatt attended my Fathers funeral and he was cremated with full military honours and regiment bugalair, I was very proud as you can imagine. My dad, having an interest in boxing was also attracted to all types of martial arts. At the beginning of some time in Borneo he told me he met someone after seeing them training Qigong just outside a town on the edge of the jungle. I don't know much about this other than what I remember my dad telling me but I know the person he trained with was old not young and very powerful, but I don't know what his lineage was. After training Iron Shirt Qigong during his time in Borneo it had an impact on his life that changed him forever and his outlook on Kung Fu and Qigong. By the time I started training with my dad he held instructor qualifications in karate, boxing, judo and western sword fighting (fencing) but also was training and a teacher of Tai Chi and Qigong because of his influence in Borneo and continued development there after in these skills, in fact he stopped training all other skills to focus on Tai Chi and Qigong for the rest of his life as this had the biggest effect on him and most benefit in his opinion. After this time and because of the high skill level he had developed through his training he was also invited and asked to become a coach for the British Bob-sledge Team. Under his guidance they won bronze in the 1998 winter Olympics training traditional methods along side modern methods to develop more power and speed when getting the bob-sledge off the track. Despite all of this and many other opportunities to become well known due to his past he kept himself to himself. He was actually a very thoughtful and quiet man who generally liked his own company and to be by himself if not with family. Until I left school I would train with him most mornings. Sometimes boxing, sometimes Kung Fu and 18 Qigong exercises as well as just talking strategy or just about life in general and how the arts connect to this. He used to always say to me that I was a second generation of our family to study martial arts and this was very important to him. He would say, like him, I must keep up training and studying my whole life so these skills can be passed down my family and every generation would get better and achieve more. This is one of the reasons I' ve worked towards achieving this, besides my love for this art form. When i left school i started to follow in my dads foot steps and became a out door instructor and fencing sword instructor, i moved to the island of white to teach full time, however it wasn't till i came home before also joining the army i came across Wing Chun Kung Fu for the first time.
