Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), founded in 1898, was the first institution in the world dedicated to research and teaching in the field of tropical medicine. As a registered charity, we work across the world, often in very difficult circumstances, to fulfil our mission of reducing the burden of sickness and mortality in disease endemic countries. We do that through the delivery of effective interventions which improve human health and are relevant to the poorest communities. As a teaching institution, we attract more than 600 students from 68 countries, from PhD research and Masters programmes to a range of professional courses, and work in partnership with health ministries, universities and research institutions worldwide to train the next generation of doctors, scientists, researchers and health professionals. The provision of technical assistance is a major component of LSTM's mission of promoting the improved health of the poor and disadvantaged peoples. Guillaume Perret is the founder and director of the company. Prior to this, Guillaume developed from scratch the coal and freight desk of the German utility RWE Trading in London (2000-05). Between 1995 and 2000 Mr Perret traded grains and chartered physical vessels at the international trading house Louis Dreyfus Negoce in Paris. He has an MBA from the London Business School and an engineering diploma in biology from a French Engineering School. Ozgur Keskin has been working with Perret Associates since 2010, mainly on analytical and modelling projects. Ozgur holds an engineering Masters degree from Cambridge University and an MBA from London Business School. He has worked with many Blue Chip clients globally on key projects as part of management consulting teams. Whilst at Morgan Stanley he worked on the quantitative research desk within their Commodities business unit developing specialised models and analytical tools for traders and sales people. Dariusz Sedzicki has been working as an analyst with Perret Associates since 2010. Dariusz is mainly involved in the production of our various market reports and analysis as well as data gathering. Gayle founded Mindproof Ltd after working with adults and young people aged 16+ in mental health for over 10 years, predominantly within NHS services. During her time with the NHS, Gayle has helped many clients overcome a wide variety of common mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, OCD, phobias and trauma and specialises in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) as well as EMDR therapy. Gayle is a fully accredited member of the industry’s governing body, the BABCP, which is regarded as the highest ‘gold’ standard a CBT psychotherapist can achieve. Gayle has written several research papers on topics such as burnout and engagement within the workplace and the use of CBT for the prevention of depression, for which she was presented an award from the University of Oxford. Gayle holds a full CBT Diploma and graduated with distinction from the world renowned University of Oxford’s Cognitive Therapy Centre (OCTC). Gayle also has a first class Masters degree in Psychology and has achieved further distinction in postgraduate studies of Psychological Therapies (PG Cert) and has trained to the highest level (Level 3) in EMDR therapy. Gayle has a wealth of experience working both within clinical and non-clinical environments and has run numerous training and workshop sessions for corporates, universities and public sector organisations. Gayle is passionate about enabling people to overcome their mental health difficulties and to develop the mental resilience to lead fulfilling lives and function the way they want to, both now and in the future.

For a long while, I lived a high stress lifestyle. I spent my university days partying and eating very little. I then started my career working in a stressful corporate environment which involved long hours, lots of travel with many restaurant meals & late nights. I worked hard but also spent every minute of my free time busy busy busy. I put a lot of pressure on myself, and my years of excessive drinking, faddy diets, over exercising, over working and 4 children took its toll on my health. Over the last 10 years, I realised that I needed to make a change & show my children the best version of me. I wanted to get rid of the constant exhaustion. I wanted to eat my dinner with them instead of making different meals because I was on the Atkins diet and they were on beige food only. I wanted to be strong and fit and healthy so I could have the energy to have fun with them. It is a continuing journey but it is facilitated by nourishing my body & mind instead of punishing it. After doing lots of studying and personal development I began my journey to become a certified holistic health and life coach and naturopathic nutritionist. I have learnt the proven system that masters lasting habit change. With lifestyle diseases, obesity and stress related illnesses on the increase, it is important now more than ever to instil healthy habits so these things become what you do and who you are without you even thinking about it.

ABOUT US Wuntanara – meaning ‘we are together’ in the Soussou language from Guinea Conakry – is a collective of outstanding artists from West Africa and dedicated African drumming and dance students from across Europe. Master Drummer Souleymane Compo is the Founder and Artistic Director Wuntanara, and CEO of Wuntanara Ltd. Souleymane was born into the proud musical tradition in Guinea. As a young man he travelled to The Gambia, where he continued his training in the traditional arts with Guinean masters, in the famous Fatala Drum and Dance School. He soon began teaching African drumming and dance to students from all over the world. An accomplished dancer, he also became choreographer and lead dancer for the Fatala Ballet troupe. Souleymane moved from Africa to London in 2004. Since then he has been teaching and performing in schools, weekly classes, festivals and private events across the UK. He combines warmth and patience with great musical knowledge and skill. He is an inspiring teacher, as well as an accomplished performer. Wuntanara's lead dancer is Salif Camara Salif belongs to a family of Guinean artists, and began dancing at a young age. An exhilarating dancer, Salif has performed in some of the most acclaimed Guinean ballet troupes and teaches Guinean dance to student across Europe as well as in Guinea. Finishing my Masters degree in Business management and English back in 1990, I was drawn to my initial love for teaching. From then on, my career path veered from teaching to customer coordinator, project manager to being a progress coach in a Sixth Form College. This last step inspired me to become a qualified coach. I decided to leave full time employment in September 2016 and after a very enjoyable 6 month training with Animas I got my Transformational Life Coaching certificate in May 2017 and became ICF (International Coaching Federation) accredited in June 2018. As a true multipotentialite, my life also involves many projects, volunteering, mentoring and training. My coaching clients vary from students to corporate, self employed and Academics. Issues we have been addressing range from self confidence, lack of direction and clarity to procrastination. My own learnings through this amazing journey have been patience and looking at others’ perspectives and stay curious. My key skill is presence and intuition. Looking forward to carrying on growing as a professional coach, I seize every opportunity to attend talks, networking events, read blogs, volunteer and reach out to the community. In the long run, my main goals are to keep helping the most in need: the youngsters. The Founder of the Tai Chi and Meditation Centre is Shifu Andy James (Wu Andao), who in 1984 gave up a career as a chartered accountant to teach fulltime. Shifu James was trained as a teacher of Insight Meditation (Vipassana) by the renowned Thai meditation master and author, Dhiravamsa. His first and main teacher in the Internal Martial Arts of Taijiquan, Baguazhang and Xingyiquan was Miss Rose Li ( see Lineage) Shifu James has studied medical and martial under Professor Jerry Alan Johnson and is a qualified Medical Qigong Therapist. He is also a Zen Shiatsu therapist. He is a member of the Forge Guild, an international association of trans-traditional spiritual leaders and teachers. Andy James is the author of The Conscious I: Clarity and Direction through Meditation, Ageless Wisdom Spirituality: Investing in Human Evolution and The Spiritual Legacy of the Shaolin Temple: Buddhism, Daoism and the Energetic Arts. Served as president of the Canadian Practitioners' Association of Asian Medicine and the Canadian branch of the Wudang Internal Martial Arts Association, vice-president of the Canadian Taijiquan Federation and director of the Canadian Kuo Shu (Martial Arts) Association. He was a member of the Canadian masters' demonstration team at the World Wu Shu Championships. Andy has been a passionate, interesting guest as well as a sensitive interviewer. He is now retired from the Tai Chi and Meditation Centre and offers his teachings at his retreat centre, Harmony Dawn. Although his time is limited, he does schedule media time throughout the year. Hi, I’m Jane Barrett, co-founder of The Career Farm and co-author of “Taking charge of your career”. I started my career in in-house recruitment (recruiting MBAs for PricewaterhouseCoopers) and retained search consultancy for blue-chip clients, private companies and start-ups across a variety of sectors including Finance, IT and FMCG. As a recruiter it was clear to me that many well-qualified MBA and Masters candidates were poorly prepared for the interview process, and were unable to explain what they wanted and what they had to offer. This lack of preparation meant that good candidates were failing to get offers. We founded The Career Farm to support the careers teams at Business Schools across the UK and Europe, using our 3-step “GPS” process to help students get better jobs on graduation. Over the years we’ve worked with thousands of students, originally in face-to-face workshops and more recently through our online courses.
