the hinge centre
The Hinge Centre has been based on the Havenfield Estate in Bridlington since
2008 and during this time the charity has worked hard to develop the trust of
the local community and the town as a whole. To be able to support more people,
we now also operate from Crown Community Centre on Quay Road. We are at the coal
face of ‘levelling up’ opportunities for the hardest to reach residents in this
area of extreme deprivation. We are passionate about advocating for and
empowering residents, to support them through times of crisis, provide them with
information and the tools to break cycles and improve their situations. Breaking
down initial barriers and discrimination they may face but also discriminations
they impose on others. We aim to ensure that whilst living in a deprived area,
our residents still have the same access to services, benefits and support that
any other member of society does. We aim to empower residents, providing them
with the tools and skills to break repetitive cycles, improve their emotional
and physical wellbeing and increase community participation. We support them to
achieve financial Inclusion, make positive choices and support their families to
further break down generational cycles of poverty and exclusion.
