The GTC is the independent organisation representing British golf club employers and greenkeepers through a Board of Directors, Advisory Groups and a full-time employee. Golf greenkeepers play a vital role in golf course maintenance and management and golf greenkeeping is a rewarding career in the great outdoors. The GTC was set up as the industry body to promote the career of greenkeeping in England, Scotland and Wales through ensuring the provision of quality education and training.

Much of the early history is a little unclear, and the county organisation seems to have had a couple of false starts and relapses, but despite the minor gaps we can be proud of our County Association’s long history. Its centenary was celebrated in 1983, but another source begins its narrative with a Mr H. Edwards, the County Bee Expert touring the County and drumming up interest in 1901-1904. His function was to educate and illuminate, quite literally, for his equipment included an acetylene lamp and lantern slides, which he exhibited, remarkably, from the back of a van.

During the summer months we tend our bees, and meet at local apiaries to discuss what we have seen during bee inspections, and any local and national news that might affect our beekeeping. These summer meetings usually culminate in the drinking of tea & coffee and the consumption of cakes and sandwiches.

Hello and welcome to Newcastle Beekeepers’ Association Honey Bees are fascinating insects and as a group we seek to understand them better and to support their wellbeing. We are a welcoming group who’s common interest is all aspects of local beekeeping. Our Association covers approximately a 20 mile radius from Newcastle into North and South Tyneside, Gateshead and the southern and eastern ends of Northumberland. We are affiliated to the National British Beekeepers Association, which provides significant benefits including: valuable public liability insurance cover, a monthly magazine and access to education and training. We have a year round meeting schedule with talks, beekeeping demonstrations and practical apiary training sessions during the summer months. Our members come of all ages and walks of life, with new members always especially welcome. We enjoy helping those looking to start or develop an interested in beekeeping and you're welcome to come along to up to three meetings to find out more, have a chat and decide if you'd like to become a member. I started playing football at the age of 8 with my first season as a goalkeeper. Then, I played in different positions until deciding to go back in goal when I was 12. Since then, I’ve played in Madrid (Spain) where at the age of 15 I was scouted by Real Madrid FC but for an external reason I did not sign and later at the age of 18 I suffered an injury that stopped me signing a professional contract with La liga team Getafe FC (Juvenil DH). In 2013 I moved to the UK, where in March that same year Reading FC showed interest in me. As a coach, my first coaching experience was 15 years ago as U15s Manager. Since then, I have worked for several teams as a Manager and as a Goalkeeper Coach in Spain and England.
