Participants must be competent in written and spoken English (Student are required to undertake a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy test prior to commencing the training). Participants are recommended (but not compulsory) to hold a First Aid certificate (minimum of Level 2) if using a chainsaw. Participants are required to wear sensible work clothes and steel capped boots, and dress according to the weather for their training. Participants are required to bring appropriate sun safety protection. Participants must be physically capable of operating a chainsaw. Participants must be able to physically kneel on the ground & get back up again.

Originally from Russia, I lived in the UK since the late 1990s, making London my home and a place of infinite inspiration. I studied film history, gaining a PhD in the field of Soviet Holocaust cinema, while working with various film festivals and running my own cultural events production company. In 2014 after leaving my career in the arts sector, I launched KinoVino which rapidly gained recognition as one of the most original projects redefining London’s food scene. Since its launch I developed a bespoke event branch, hosted supper clubs under my own name exploring food from my native Russia and released my debut cookbook Salt and Time in 2019. My recipes are featured in The Guardian, Red Magazine, Olive Magazine, The Independent and House & Garden amongst other leading UK publications. While my events have been highlighted in Vogue, Elle, TimeOut, and I’ve been shortlisted for the Young British Foodie Awards in 2017. I’ve also had the honour of being listed at number one of the new voices in food by the Observer Food Magazine in February 2019, and having my cooking names a new trend for 2021 by Waitrose Magazine. Since 24 Feb 2022, I have started #CookforUkraine campaign using the language of food to raise awareness and funds for the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Ukraine right now. I have teamed up with my dear friend, Ukrainian chef, writer and activist, Olia Hercules, and the formidable team behind #CookforSyria to create a global movement to celebrate the food of Ukraine while providing the much needed humanitarian help vid UNICEF Emergency Relief Fund. Last modified: 04/10/2019 International courses and workshops for researchers writing for refereed journal publication Great writing is not primarily about grammar or even about word choice. It’s about structure, and more specifically about putting information where readers have been trained to see it. However, this is not what most people are taught. Writers are often handed a lot of “rules” that do little or nothing to improve their writing. You probably know them: Avoid passives. Vary your language. Shorten sentences. Paragraphs must have an explicit topic sentence, 3 supporting sentences and a concluding sentence. Jargon sounds academic. Data equals thinking. Write the way you talk. Fix your grammar and you’re fine. Word choice is everything. Sentences should be under 29 words long. Never start a sentence with but, however or because. Never split infinitives. And so on… These are both disempowering and (in the main) untrue, yet many teachers continue to dish them out. This course is different – really different. In the 10-week course, five class sessions are concerned with structures that will help participants produce a first draft. The next five sessions cover, in detail, a dynamic system for altering that first draft, making it understandable to others without following any of the above ‘rules’. The intensive 5-day course begins with a first draft, and consists of morning group sessions based on that draft, followed by afternoons revising (first for structure and content, but in the last three days also for readability). A selection of topics will be omitted from the 5-day course. The course continues with email support as needed until the article is submitted to a refereed journal (and through the entire revision and acceptance process)

I currently hold an honorary contract the NHS Royal Brompton Hospital in London, having lead their Paediatric Speech Therapy service for the last 8 years. Tumble Tots is a physical play programme. We offer classes where children can develop their physical skills of balance, agility, climbing and co-ordination, whilst at the same time stimulating their imagination, and developing their language and social skills. Our sessions are structured around the different ages and stages of a child's development, from 6 months to school age. Each week we combine fun, excitement and challenge in a safe and caring environment, with our unique equipment and team of specially trained coaches. Children have an enormous amount of natural energy and with proper help and guidance it can be channelled in the right direction. We believe that if we can start children on a healthy way of life early on then it will become a habit for the rest of their lives. Exercise should be about having fun and that’s exactly what Tumble Tots provides! My name is Helen Otto and I live in High Wycombe with my husband, twin 8-year-old daughters and our 4 year old son. I took over running Tumble Tots in Marlow, Maidenhead and Bourne End in June 2017. The girls had been going to Tumble Tots in Marlow for a couple of years and loved the classes. I’d been a Tumble Tot as a child, and had also been a competitive swimmer right up until my late teenage years, so doing something in sport really appealed to me. And I love working with kids. Seeing children grow in confidence and ability week after week is so rewarding. I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by a fab team of coaches who work their socks off to make our classes fun and challenging for our tots. Our Class Leaders are Jade, Jackie, Katie and myself. And our Coaches are Sarah, Lisa and Liz.
