Since 1981, BCD has served the disadvantaged of Little Rock’s 12th Street Corridor. BCD, Inc. began as Black Community Developers. It was initially an outreach program of Theressa Hoover Memorial United Methodist Church. In 2010, BCD became Better Community Development. This name change served to reflect the inclusive nature of BCD’s programs. In 1992, Rev. Dr. William H. Robinson, Jr. formed the Fighting Back Initiative. Funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and an alliance with the City of Little Rock made the program possible. In later years, it would evolve into the Neighborhood Support Center. State, federal, and private support along with a half-cent tax were the primary sources of funding. As a result of a partnership with the City and HUD, the Hoover Treatment Center was created. The Center provides outpatient and residential services for people with substance abuse problems. The Center also includes a homeless shelter, an HIV/AIDS ministry, job training, and permanent and supportive housing. Not only do BCD’s programs impact the lives of individuals but extend into the community’s infrastructure. Building affordable housing for low-to-moderate-income families makes a great impact south of 630. The Affordable Housing Program is certified by the Arkansas Development Finance Authority to provide monthly homebuyer-education courses. Participants become eligible for state grants to assist with home-buying costs. Instructors are volunteers from four area banks who assess the curriculum. Today, BCD is expanding its reach and vision to include even more important challenges facing the city. Its latest expansion, the Empowerment Center, houses a state-licensed treatment program and permanent housing for people with special needs. It provides a revitalized facility for career, life skills, and technology training. It also focuses on environmental issues right in the heart of the same neighborhood where BCD was created.

Sir John Dunford During his 50-year career in education, John Dunford has held a wide range of roles. These were outlined in the introduction to his book, ‘The School Leadership Journey’, published in November 2016 by John Catt. http://www.johncattbookshop.com/the-school-leadership-journey John was general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders (formerly the Secondary Heads Association) from 1998 to 2010. Prior to that, he was a member of the leadership team of three secondary schools in the north-east of England from 1974 to 1998, including 16 years as head of Durham Johnston Comprehensive School, an 11-18 school with 1500 pupils. John was a member of the Councils of Durham and Nottingham Universities for 11 and 6 years respectively and was a member of the Local Government Association’s Commission on the Organisation of the School Year. He was chair of Whole Education from 2010 to 2019, the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors from 2011 to 2014 and of the charity Step Together Volunteering from 2010 to 2018. He served on the board of trustees of Teach First and the advisory board of Future Leaders from the inception of those organisations and was a member of the governing council of the National College for School Leadership. John was the government’s National Pupil Premium Champion from 2013 to 2015, an independent role in which he worked with schools, trusts, teaching schools and local authorities on the effective use of the pupil premium to raise the educational achievement of disadvantaged pupils, reporting back to the Department for Education on issues raised by school leaders and teachers. John is a trustee of the Learn Academies Trust in south Leicestershire.

I thought I would share a few things about myself, to help you get to know me before we work together: I have come to coaching, counselling and mindfulness training via a long career in Human Resources, in which I worked my way up to HR Director level. I have personal experience of the pressures, and joys, of a senior business role, and have worked as colleague, HR support and coach to some high performing board, executive and senior management teams. I restrict the number of clients I work with so I can always be at my best for them - and I don't work with everyone, only those who are really committed to making the changes they want. I have a dog and a cat (they don't participate in coaching sessions)! I do mindfulness meditation for around 10 minutes most days (sometimes longer, sometimes not at all) - every little helps, and even a little makes a big difference to improving focus, performance, stress management... My favourite cocktail is an Old Fashioned. I have a strong interest in psychology and neuroscience - particularly focussed on how we can get our minds to work their best and how we can be happy. I have my own coach - because having a coach is great! In 1987 he was trained by Shin Taguchi(of ASI) in Taguchi Methods and was subsequently involved in its implementation within Lucas. He took the opportunity to bring Taguchi Methods to a wider audience by joining ASI in 1989 and quickly expanded his training portfolio into QFD and other Continuous Improvement areas. In 1996 he was trained by TRIZ Master Victor Fey and more recently successfully achieved MATRIZ level 3 certification, following extensive coaching by TRIZ Master Sergei Ikovenko. With colleague Ray Greenall they built up a successful Six Sigma training business that was taken over by BSI Management Systems in 2006. Simon left BSI in 2007 to establish SCB Associates Ltd. Concept is a newly-formed, independent group, not beholden to any larger concern. The leaders of the group are themselves deeply involved in private education and owe their livelihood to it. The group was born out of the conviction that private education is a force for good, but that, as in everything, there is room for improvement. How will that improvement happen? Primarily by listening. By listening - to why parents spend money on education for their children. What do they really want out of it - certainly not a mediocre result. By listening - to what the pupils themselves want from their schooling - of course it is exam grades which they know are the price of entry to a good university (and there are a growing number which are not good) or to a satisfying career, but what else do they want? By listening - to employers - what sort of people will they be looking to recruit into the companies of the future? By listening - to the worthwhile commentators who cast their minds forward to see the way in which the world is changing all around us, every day. In the lifetime of our children, standing still will be moving backwards. By listening - attentively, with our heads and with our hearts, we aim to provide schools and schooling that is consequential, and in being so recognises that children enjoy their lives when they see a purpose in their learning. In striving to achieve this, we will also be looking closely at ways of halting the apparently inexorable rise in fees for private education, with the result that over time a greater number of families will be in a position to choose the independent option.

The International Society of Performance Analysis of Sport ( ISPAS ), and its predecessor the International Society of Notational Analysis (ISNAS - 1991), was founded to improve the international cooperation in the field of Analysis of Sport. Obviously, the internationalization of this discipline is of great importance for the exchange of views, the discussion and presentation of current research results as well as the realization of joint research projects. Until now the Society has existed quite informally – its main purpose was to ensure the continuing excellence in its World Conferences in Liverpool (1991), Cardiff (1993), Turkey (1995), Porto (1998), Cardiff (2001), Belfast (2004) and Szombathely, Hungary (2006). But now with the rapid growth of Performance Analysis as a discipline and career, there is a need for the Society to assume more formal responsibilities. The Society now has the following purposes/objectives: dissemination of scientific knowledge concerning performance analysis of sport providing a forum for the exchange of ideas bridging the gap between researchers and practitioners gather and disseminating information, scientific knowledge and materials on performance analysis of sport counselling other organisations in questions of performance analysis of sport Representation of computer science in sport in other scientific associations It's tasks are: Editing the e-journal, the International Journal of Performance Analysis of Sport (eIJPAS) Organization of 2 – 3 workshops each year, preferably rotating the venues internationally. My background in leadership development, occupational psychology, executive coaching, organization development and neuroscience gives me the skills and experience to help any client in any industry to maximise their potential for performance. I work with a small number of experienced associates, whom I’ve known for several years. I have self-funded all the qualifications I need to be able to offer a professional and reliable service. These are listed in the right-hand column. My professional development is continuing as I work towards Chartered Coaching Psychologist status. My professional career includes 9 years as a commissioned officer in the British Army, reaching the rank of major by 30 years old and fulfilling roles as an HR Director/Company Secretary of an infantry battalion (1st Battalion The Green Howards) on operations in Northern Ireland and Bosnia-Herzegovina. I led the first-ever British Army expedition to Lake Baikal, the World’s largest freshwater lake, in Siberia, Russia in 1995, lasting 3 months. After leaving the Forces, I held operations management roles in Ernst & Young, Cap Gemini and Accenture, before working for a number of boutique psychology consultancies, including Chimp Management, a company closely involved with various Team GB Olympic sports including cycling, swimming, taekwondo and canoeing. I am supervised by an EMCC and ICF-accredited supervisor. I am also a qualified Mental Health First Aider, which compliments my skills workshops on managing stress and building resilience. For my own wellbeing, I enjoy running, hill walking and real ale, occasionally combining all three by taking part in mountain marathons followed by a well-earned break in a local pub to refuel and recover. I enjoy reading history and biographies (as well as psychology, it goes without saying!), and I try to keep my German and Russian above the level of embarrassed British tourist asking for directions to the beach.

Jo is a fully qualified Physiotherapist and has been working for over 17 years in the profession treating a variety of patients to include Elite athletes, Professional Ballet dancers, amateur sports participants and the general public with complex pain conditions. She completed the training to become a fully certified Modified Pilates teacher in 2003 with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute. Jo lives with her husband, daughter, their son and a springer spaniel in Barnsley and loves keeping herself fit by attending Bootcamp sessions, personal training and running. She is aiming to do her first half marathon soon. In 2006 Jo set up Flex Pilates, originally teaching classes in North Sheffield. Since then the business has expanded to Leeds and Barnsley with people of all ages and abilities enjoying the benefits of this popular exercise. As well as teaching Pilates classes Jo also works with the APPI as an International Lecturer, teaching other Health Professionals the principles of Pilates teaching, enabling them to take the exercise into their practice. This side of her career has seen her travel to America in 2012 to teach 6 courses to rehabilitation professionals. Jo also travels within the UK, lecturing regularly on 3 different Matwork courses developed by the APPI. Having just had her second child, Jo has added Antenatal and Postnatal rehabilitation Pilates classes to the Flex Pilates' repertoire, teaching mums-to-be and new mums alike. After struggling with a muscle separation (Diastasis Recti) with her pregnancy, Jo used Pilates to re-strengthen her own core with great success. Jo is truly passionate about Pilates and loves the way it can help transform an individual's ability to function on a day-to-day basis.
