With strong partnerships in place between the local authorities and additional funders we are proud to create a wide array of opportunities for so many individuals. From Employment and Training to Emotional Health and well-being support, our dedicated team offer their advice and assistance across a number of topics so if you’re unsure as to whether we can help, feel free to get in touch and we can point you in the right direction. The Partnerships activities cover the Nottingham City Council boundaries of Area One, being Bestwood, Bulwell and Bulwell Forest wards and surrounding areas. For those that are not comfortable with the terms Bulwell Forest wards this includes areas also identified as Top Valley, Rise Park and Highbury Vale areas. Our strategic approach and commitment to the wider area increases year on year as a reflection of our hard work and positive impact, These areas may change from time to time depending on contractual funding and newly identified Partnership working. The Guild is the national professional association for Blue and Green Badge Tourist Guides working throughout the British Isles, including the Isle of Man and Jersey. With around 800 full members and a network of regional and local associations with nearly 1,000 members holding group membership, the Guild represents around 1,800 guides. Its members offer guiding in 34 different languages. They are listed in the Guide Search facility. Since its foundation in 1950, the Guild has been dedicated to raising and maintaining the highest professional standards of its membership. The Blue and Green Badge is recognised internationally as the qualification of excellence in site and heritage interpretation, and in communication skills. It is awarded only following extensive training and vigorous examination. The Guild is run by an Executive Council, elected by the membership, and salaried office staff, and provides support and advice to its members on both policy and all issues covering guide services, sites, coach operators and health & safety. The members are kept up-to-date with weekly e-bulletins and regular newsletters packed with informative articles and updates on guiding-related issues; monthly diaries listing major events, opening times and admission prices; access to an extensive Continuing Professional Development programme. Guild members are covered under public liability insurance, which provides annual cover up to £5million. A copy of the policy is kept at Guild House and the office staff can assist with any enquiries you have as to extent of cover, which includes cover whilst on tour anywhere in the world. As a highly respected organisation within the tourism industry the Guild is without political bias. It acts as a pressure group and consultative body on all matters concerning guiding. gymtopia north east gymnastics club

Gymtopia North East Gymnastics Club opened on the 18th November 2014 and first began in both Kenton School sports hall and Wallbottle School sports hall with 3 gymnasts and 2 coaches; one of them being head coach and director Felicity Brown. Felicity had always dreamed of opening her own club to cater for the local community and beyond, giving the potential for participants from all backgrounds to enjoy the sport of Gymnastics. Gymtopia quickly expanded to include multiple classes and in April 2017 opened in its own premises in Brunswick, Newcastle to accommodate the growing number of gymnasts in the club. Gymtopia is fully affiliated with British Gymnastics. Gymtopia now houses over 500+ Gymnasts from Grassroots to national level and hopefully in the future compulsory elite. Beyond this, Gymtopia has 12 recreational classes per week and has developed a growing preschool section to encourage any future gymnasts and increase participation levels from an earlier age. Gymtopia aims to provide opportunities for all, including recreational, competitive and coaching opportunities. Gymtopia believes that sporting participation has great value in the lives of all, beyond the sport. Gymnastics teaches hard work, determination, teamwork and discipline. It is with this work ethic that has enabled Gymtopia to have gymnasts compete all over the country since its opening in 2014, including representing the North of England region at National Finals multiple times. In 2018, Gymtopia also expanded to International competition, competing in Malta. The gymnastics club offers a range of disciplines including recreation, preschool, women’s artistic, women’s general, men’s general and Teamgym. Gymtopia aims to give back to all its members and so Felicity has created the club to be a non-profit community club, all proceeds are invested back into the club for future expansions, increased participation and gymnast development. Gymtopia is currently in the process of becoming a CASC (Community Amateur Sports Club) in order to support our core values of being a non-profit club and catering to the wider community.

brian mcminn: gestalt therapy workshops

I am Irish but have lived in the northwest of England for over 20 years. After originally qualifying as a person-centred counsellor in 1994, I worked in GP practices in the northwest and in north Wales before working in London at the Beverley Clinic. I was then invited to teach, part-time, on counselling courses at Oldham College, and progressed to a full-time post as programme leader for the counselling diploma. Subsequently, I worked full-time as lecturer and joint course leader at University of Salford for a number of years before deciding to leave teaching and focus on providing therapy. In 2006, I qualified as a Gestalt psychotherapist (Manchester Gestalt Centre and Metanoia Institute). Gestalt theory and practice is fascinating, and the thoroughness of the training, which is accredited by Gestalt Psychotherapy & Training Institute, makes it a highly respected and powerful approach. At a recent estimate, I have worked therapeutically with over 8000 clients for an average of ten sessions each. I would like to say that therapy was successful with all – but not quite, I’m sure. At University of Liverpool, where I work part-time, the CORE-OM system is used to assess outcomes, and my work has a high success rate. I have two teenage sons, and I’m an avid football fan and watch a lot of it. Recently I had the pleasure of working for Everton Football Club with some of their first team. I read a lot of non-fiction, watch Netflix, enjoy photography, walk our spaniel, Daisy, and exercise regularly. I got into counselling and therapy over 25 years ago when I decided to face my own personal problems. I needed a lot of help and to my surprise, and initial scepticism, it worked well for me. I feel transformed by this experience (it was long term and not always easy). From this experience I developed an endless fascination for psychotherapy. I was fortunate to have been a client to some very capable therapists, to whom I am more than grateful.

Throughout the years we have been developing a collaborative network of interests and opportunities for the Romanian community living in the UK, contributing to England's multicultural milieu. We facilitate cultural exchanges between Britain and Romania, constantly aiming to improve our relationship. RCC also provides an up to date Guide containing information about Romanian institutions, organisations, businesses and services in the UK. Our Work We rely on the enthusiasm of our team of volunteers, who get involved in our programmes and help us improve invariably. Moreover, the Centre benefits from a number of voluntary British advisers on dealings with British institutions and audiences. These are friends of Romania, private or public persons from various institutions who have supported the Centre in its endeavours by encouraging us to bring new ideas to life. Besides the cultural activities implied by the name, RCC also plays an active part in the social life of the Romanian Diaspora in Britain. Our History The idea of establishing an organisation to represent Romanians in the UK dates from the '50s, when ACARDA (Asociatia Culturala a Romanilor din Anglia - The Cultural Association of the Romanians in England) was founded by Ion Ratiu and Horia Georgescu working together with various individuals, notably the ladies of the Romanian community. In 1984 the UMRL (Uniunea Mondiala a Romanilor Liberi - The World Union of Free Romanians) was launched in Geneva to unite Romanians from all over the world. Ion Ratiu was elected the first President. From that date (1984) UMRL published a monthly newspaper in Romanian and English, 'Romanul Liber' (Free Romanian), which flourished until 1997. In 1984 a British branch of UMRL was founded, along with branches in 23 other countries. Sandu Pobereznic was elected as the first British President, and succeeded by Nicolae Ratiu in 1992. The newspaper was closed and political activity sharply scaled down after the election of 1996, when it was considered that the objective of UMRL, the restoration of freedom and democracy to Romania, had largely been achieved.

We play an important role within the profession of counselling in the UK and in May 2013 the Society was one of the first organisations to gain Accredited Register status with the Professional Standards Authority Accredited Register programme. Our belief is that counselling (and related therapies) should be seen as a vocation (not just a job but a worthy occupation) and that the relationship between counsellor and client is important for the outcome of therapy. We support and promote counselling and counsellors, offering a wide variety of benefits to our members and training providers. We have also created and published online CPD courses to support healthcare providers and those in public-facing roles. As an Accredited Register holder we meet the robust and exacting standards set by the Professional Standards Authority with particular emphasis on public safety and assuring that the best interests of the clients are protected. The National Counselling Society believes that all Accredited Registers should be seen as equal. To this end, we were instrumental in gaining recognition within the NHS for all Accredited Registers. NHS Choices information list Accredited Registers to reflect what should be equality of choice for all clients and patients. In addition, NHS Employers has added content encouraging the use and detailing the benefits of Accredited Registers, and the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme recognises the NCS alongside other Registers. We’re also very pleased that, again as a result of our efforts, Health Education England has amended the information on the NHS Health Careers website also to be in line with the aforementioned changes on NHS Choices and NHS employers sites, and promote inclusive hiring practices We are a not for profit organisation and the high standards of our Accredited Register are externally verified by the Professional Standards Authority. The organisation is bound by appropriate rules of governance including a constitution, codes of ethics, and a complaints procedure.
