In 2001, when my daughter was five months old, I decided to join a local Yoga class to ‘get back in shape’ and to have a little ‘me’ time in a busy week. I was instantly hooked and as I began to reap some of yoga’s immeasurable rewards, an interest quickly blossomed into a new way of life. The fantastic teacher I had found taught the Iyengar Yoga method. Wanting a greater understanding of this method and having developed a passion to teach, I completed a highly rewarding two year teacher training program at the Manchester and District Institute of Iyengar Yoga. I qualified as an Introductory Level 2 teacher - 2010 and left my career of 27 years as a Design separation artist to teach full time; I never looked back. My training continued and in 2015 I gained my Intermediate Junior Level 1 teacher certificate. In 2018 I also gained my Introductory Junior Level 2 teachers certificate. My own professional development and training is on-going and I attend weekly teachers classes and regular further training workshops. I’m honoured and constantly inspired to have learnt from various wonderful senior teachers and visiting teachers from B.K.S. Iyengar's Ramamani Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India. Concern surrounding underachievement of young males was brought into sharp focus in 2007 by the independent REACH report. Sponsored by The Home Office, The Department for Communities and Local Government and The Department for Education and Families, the report explored the costs associated with the problems that can arise from a disadvantaged socio-economic background, in this case specifically for young black males. These costs are associated with over-representation in the Criminal Justice System and reduced gross earnings and taxes associated with educational underachievement. They are estimated at £808 million a year and could amount to £24 billion over the next 50 years if the underlying issues are not addressed. From a working-class background himself, Clive attributes his corporate career success to hard work and maintaining a positive attitude. A key finding of the REACH report was a lack of positive male role models, particularly black male role models, in the media and the lives of young men. Clive knows from experience that the socio-economic gap to success can be bridged – he has held a number of senior level HR positions, is a company director and was awarded an OBE in 2010 for his contributions to the REACH report and the workplace mediation industry. Thus his involvement in the REACH report, together with his own personal experience, has inspired the development of the Bridge Builders Mentoring Scheme.

At EarthCraftuk we have over 12 years experience delivering a variety of nature based programmes including: Forest School Leader Training, Woodland Skills Continued Professional Development Workshops, school visits, youth accredited engagement programmes and experiential Forest School programmes; witnessing first-hand the transformational effects experiences in the natural world can have on the physical and mental health and wellbeing of all participants, and the fulfilling career paths it can often open up for adult participants. At a time when we on average spend 90% of our time indoors, our work at Earthcraftuk is driven by the evidenced impact of being in nature. I was born in Ohio and grew up in a small farming village before qualifying as a teacher and moving to England in 2003. After getting married, my husband and I moved back to his hometown in Cornwall. Outside of the clinic, you can find me exploring the local beaches and coastal paths (with a coffee, of course). I decided to return to my passion for caring for others in the health and fitness industry (my original career path prior to teaching) after dealing with work-related stress and suffering from chronic pain following a severe back injury. As a result, I have a special interest in the connection between mental health and how we feel pain. My goal is to help as many people as possible who are coping with injuries, pain, and/or stress by providing soft tissue therapy, which combines massage, education, and rehabilitation to help you take control of your pain or injury. I qualified as a Level 5 Soft Tissue Therapist after studying with the Institute of Sport & Remedial Massage (ISRM) at The Massage Training School in Exmouth. I have treated a wide variety of injuries, chronic pain, and musculoskeletal pain both in my clinic and for a short period prior to COVID, for the Camborne Rugby Football Club while assisting the lead physio.
