Black Women Let Loose Theatre Company is a Bristol-based Community Interest Company created to highlight the experiences of women of African and Caribbean descent through devising and producing theatre. The company was created by Christelle Pellecuer, Lorna James, Rachel de Garang, Ruth Pitter, Valerie Mower and Yoma Smith. Our inaugural show, titled Shades Of Our Lives, comprises inventive short pieces exploring topics such as identity, connection and belonging, examining issues familiar to all. It was a sell-out show which we performed for the first time on International Women’s Day 2019 at Bristol Old Vic. We work collaboratively to devise pieces of dramatic work for wide ranging audiences. Our performances portray stories that offer thought-provoking insight into the actors’ life experiences.

Imagine if each beautifully unique person of the world felt empowered to express who they are, share their vulnerabilities and speak to each other to determine where we are similar instead of different. If people can express their feelings constructively they can work through their fears, open their hearts and find their place in the world. People’s fears of rejection, difference and the unknown are causing a lot of problems at the moment. For society to change we need to empower individuals. Plight Club's mission is to change the attitude towards vulnerability to increase real human connection. Ultimately, to break down barriers in the world and reduce the ‘them vs us’ culture that is holding us back. This change starts by encouraging people to talk to each other and also enabling them with the tools to be able to express how they feel in turn, connect on a deeper level. The plight of life is true for every single person. We are in this together. There's a long road ahead of us but a movement starts with one step (from a lot of people). I began my own Yoga journey in 2002, having suffered from excruciating cluster headaches for some months I decided to see if Yoga could help. Not only did it cure my headaches it also began to take away the aches and pains I had for years in my knees. Although I “found” yoga looking for help for physical ailments, I quickly came to realise the huge benefits to my emotional and mental well being too. Having attended classes with Sam Rao for 16 years, through 2 pregnancies, work challenges, losing family and a close friend I found that Yoga really was the one thing I could turn to for help physically and mentally. In 2018 I took the leap to begin the next part of my Yoga journey and began my training with Sam Rao Yoga School. I began teaching in January 2019. Since graduating I have attended numerous courses and workshops including Teen Yoga, "The Alchemy of Touch", Introduction to teaching pregnancy Yoga, principles of Yin and Restorative Yoga and Thai Massage, and Philosophy in Movement to extend my learning and be able to offer more classes to my yogis. My personal practice remains incredibly important to me. As well as practice at home I attend a regular weekly class, as well as visiting other teachers and attending day and weekend retreats. These are amazing opportunities to self nurture and also improve my own teaching. My wish is to share Yoga with my local community and encourage you to attend a class where you listen to your body, not just my guidance, finding a Yoga practice you can share in class and also take away into your every day life. Recognising that Yoga isn't just about moving but about breath, stillness, connection, how we live our lives, kindness, compassion and nurturing. My name is Cameron and I am a 27 year old keys player specialising in Rock, Blues, R&B, Funk and Soul music. I started playing the piano aged 8 and have been passionate about music ever since. I have many years’ experience providing piano lessons to people of all ages and abilities, in person, in schools and online. Companies I've previously worked for include Open2Music and Private Music Lessons UK. I can also teach students Classical and advanced music theory to a high standard. I produce many of my own documents to aid students’ learning and use methodical but fun teaching methods. With a diverse knowledge of subjects such as music culture/history and technology, I aim to give students a broad overview of all things music related. Education: After working through the ABRSM Classical and Jazz grades, I began studying Music and Music Tech A levels at college. From 2014 to 2016, I was tutored by highly regarded industry professionals such as Brian Henry (Soul II Soul, Mica Paris) and Frank Tontoh (Amy Winehouse, George Michael) at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, where I achieved a 2:1 in Professional Music Performance. Experience: I have a wealth of experience teaching the piano (and music in general) to children and adults of all ages and abilities, either at home, in a school environment, or online. Resources: I have created many useful documents over the years, catering to people of all ages and abilities. I also produced a single document called 'Essential Music Theory' featuring lots of information about scales, chords, progressions, melodic features, improvisation and ear training. Teaching online: Online tuition is useful as it is convenient for both the student and the teacher, especially when they are many miles away from each other. I have taught many students via Zoom and find it to be a useful and enjoyable experience. I have access to a reliable, fast internet connection and know how to deal with any issues that may arise. I can play the piano in software like Logic Pro X and this can be heard very clearly by the student on the other end (any audio I play my end can be heard). Students can also see what notes/chords I'm playing via screen-sharing and an app called 'ChordieApp'.
