As soon as I could walk I loved to dance. As a professional actress for many years I sang and danced in numerous productions. In 2007, during a period of illness plus injury from two car accidents, I wanted to do more aerobic activity to keep my spirits up. I pretty much loathed the intimidating atmosphere of the gym and was delighted to find the perfect combination of exercise and dance with ZUMBA. Back then, hardly anyone had heard of it and my ranting of how good it was was largely ignored. Now, of course, people all over the world join in the fun! Spurred on by friends and a couple of my ZUMBA instructors - I took the plunge to officially qualify and start my own classes. All ZUMBA instructors have their own 'flavour’. I am no spring chicken and hope to inspire some who may feel they are too old to boogie, or have worries about their physical capabilities for exercising. My aim is simple - to help you feel good about yourself! I teach Zumba Fitness, Zumba Gold, Zumba Gold Toning and Zumba Gold Seated/Supported in community venues and retirement villages in the Bristol area UK. Living in Dublin at the time, a work-hard play-hard culture had driven my body and mind to the brink and I regularly experienced panic attacks, depression and became quite unwell with an over-active thyroid – my body had had enough. Deep down even then I knew there was another way but felt stuck in my chosen career at the time. A chance conversation one evening in a pub with a friend opened my eyes to the world of holistic therapies like homeopathy, massage and yoga and a different way of being. I began to consider the prospect of honouring my heartfelt desire to help others. However it wasn’t until I fell pregnant with my first child that I found the courage to try a pregnancy massage and join a yoga class, persuaded by the chance that others would be beginning too. Healing myself came first and is an ongoing journey. Returning to Edinburgh that year I continued pregnancy yoga and massage and I have no doubt that both allowed me to sail through the 9 months inspiring me to go on and train as a bodyworker and leave my career in finance behind. I then spent many years working and learning about bodywork and building a successful niche massage practice supporting expectant and post-natal mums and their families. Some say that the average work-span of a massage therapist is 8 years and that certainly was the case for me. Whilst I was and still am hugely passionate about the benefits of positive touch, my body knew otherwise and it was time for a break from treating bodies in such a hands-on way. This realisation coincided with an opportunity to step back into employment for a while and I spent 3 fantastic years working for Secret Garden Outdoor Nursery founded by Cathy Bache. The chance to step into such a fabulous social enterprise was a true gift and allowed my deep love of Nature, which had been lost along the way, to resurface. I had the privilege to take part in a deep nature connection program called Art of Mentoring in 2014 and went on to train as a Forest Schools Practitioner and support young children in their free explorations of natural world. At that time, along with Nature, yoga was the biggest source of support in my life, emotionally, mentally and physically. I returned time and time again to the refuge of my mat to ease the physical and emotional stresses of parenting and life. In 2013, I had the privilege of doing my Foundation Yoga Training with Marc Woolford of Acquaviva Yoga. This year of training based around Marc’s interpretation of the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli really laid the foundations of my daily yoga practice and greatly influenced the style of my teaching today which is gentle yet deep, somatic and very mindful. In 2015 the conditions finally felt right for me to progress onto a full Teacher Training Diploma with Yoga Scotland, one of the most thorough and diverse qualifications in the UK. The loss of a dear friend that year and the deep grieving that unleashed became a transformational stage for me and gave me the push that I needed to step up and allow the Yoga teachings that had supported me so much over the years to be passed on to others. I completed the 2 year (500 hour) course in June 2017 and I'm now living and breathing Yoga and bringing my blend of the teachings out into my local community.

As a Teacher, Surrey Cricket Coach and a father of 3, I noticed there were no other kids cricket opportunities for 3-8 year olds. From my own point of view I always wanted my children to enjoy sport, but equally want them to be stretched from an early age. I believe children are far more capable at times than we give them credit for, therefore although our program is all about developing your child’s physical learning of cricket and social skills attributed though enjoyment, our unique concept enables the core skills of cricket to be introduced from an early age to great success.” For the last 3 years running we are honored to be nominated for an ‘Outstanding Services to Cricket Coaching Award’ by the Natwest OSCA’S at Surrey County Cricket Club. Mini Crickets has also proven to be a significant feeder into County Cricket with 8 of our clients last year successfully making it into the Surrey County Cricket Performance Squads! Coaches are all highly qualified having undergone an intensive inset program, as well as undertaking DBS/first aid and ECB coaching awards. If you would like your daughter or son to start their cricket careers on the right ‘front foot drive’, then ‘Crickety’ is waiting for a high five! During the Summer of 2017 Mini Crickets founder Jon Albert was incredibly proud to receive the honour of ‘ Outstanding Coaching Achievement’ from Surrey County Cricket Club. This award was given for his innovative coaching methods which have been developed over the years to create our Mini Cricket classes. Jon is thrilled that his program has been recognised with this honour and we look forward rolling our program out to as many children as possible over the coming year. This recognition is down to the commitment of all the Mini Cricket coaches throughout our centres and special mention goes to Henry Thorpe who won ‘Young Coach of the Year.

Most sail-training programs focus on the essential hard skills. After years of experience in the professional maritime industry, we decided to not only cover expedition sailing skills in a Morse Alpha Expedition but also emphasize crisis management, leadership, professionalism, and camaraderie. These are the skills that will keep you and your crew safely working together even in a crisis situation. Our programs cover a broad curriculum of hard skills such as sail theory, weather, technology, voyage planning, first aid at sea, engines, traditional navigation, emergency drills (MOB, drogue, fire, etc), VHF protocol, RADAR, anchoring, and more. But it doesn’t stop there. We also discuss communication and leadership, bridge resource management (BRM), maritime law and conduct, etc. Our philosophy is that even when you aren’t sailing a commercial vessel, you are still bound by the same laws, weather challenges, crew dynamics, and physical forces. Therefore, recreational sailing shouldn’t be taken lightly. But on the flipside – we love to laugh, bake cookies on cold days, dip in the ocean, and have fun.
