New Ashgate Gallery, a non-profit making trust, cultivates the pursuit of excellence in a marketplace environment, with support to emerging artists, by exhibiting work and through professional development. We promote the creative process for all communities through workshops, talks and outreach work. We provide an unparalleled resource in Farnham, Surrey and beyond. History In doing all this we have a direct line of continuity with our beginnings. Elizabeth Naydler, who founded the Gallery in 1959, had aspirations to bring quality art to Farnham, with the first provincial exhibitions of nationally and internationally known sculptors and artists such as Henry Moore, Anthony Caro, Elizabeth Frink, Barbara Hepworth, Picasso, Sandra Blow, Mary Fedden, Peter Blake, whilst at the same nurturing local talent and helping the careers of the next generation of artists and crafts people through exhibitions, sale of work and prizes and scholarships. The Gallery moved into Waggon Yard in 1966 - in 2016 the Trust celebrated its 50th anniversary in the 17th century Grade II building in in the centre of the Farnham Craft Town. During the years, the gallery has administered the profits from craft and art sales to create prizes and scholarships, and for the purchase of artworks for local and national museums. It was one of the first provincial galleries to show artists with an international reputation as well as supporting local talent.

Our holiday workshops range from the all time favourite, 'Blood Brothers', the hugely successful 'Matilda', the much loved 'Mamma Mia', the hilarious 'Shrek', the stunning 'Les Miserable', and the exciting recent addition to our selection, 'Come From Away'. The workshop tutors will teach the theatre lovers all they need to know about their chosen show, including tailor made script, songs and choreography. All workshops begin with a professional physical and vocal warm - up and can end with a question and answer session, giving the students a chance to get a real insight into the show and life in the industry. Welcome to The Gryphon SchoolThe Gryphon School opened in September 1992 as a Dorset County Council voluntary controlled Church of England School. It replaced three former schools – Foster’s, Lord Digby’s and St Aldhelms which had served Sherborne for many years. Lord Digby’s began in 1743 and Fosters in 1640. The new Headteacher was Mr Chris Shepperd (MA Oxon) and the School opened with 853 students. The foundation stone for the new school buildings and campus were laid by The Right Reverend John Baker, Lord Bishop of Salisbury on July 23 1993 on the site of St Aldhelms School. The new school was formally opened by HRH The Duchess of Gloucester GCVO on 15 November 1994. In 2004 the School became a Specialist School for Business and Enterprise – the first in Dorset. As part of this development The Gryphon Conference Centre was added and opened by HRH The Earl of Wessex KCVO on 28 April 2006. Whilst the specialist school system has ended the School has maintained considerable links with the local community and businesses.
