Heath House Preparatory School

heath house preparatory school

About Heath House Preparatory School Established in 1993, Heath House is a co-educational independent preparatory school for children aged between three and eleven. Heath House is a small, private and friendly school where children are happy to learn in a stimulating environment. The school has a strong child-centred approach with an environment designed to encourage every child, of all ages and abilities, to achieve their maximum potential. Set in the heart of Blackheath Village, SE3, the school has three annexes to its main building in Wemyss Road - Tranquil Hall, the original village school building (1851), The Old Library in Blackheath Grove and further afield, 'Aux Mottaux' in Villars, Switzerland. Our school day is busy where children feel a sense of excitement and achievement – a fast structured pace giving a sense of urgency in their quest for excellence. The school timetable encourages children to work hard in the mornings and then after lunch, children are very active and take part in sporting and creative activities. Trips, educational visits and workshops are wide-ranging and packed into an activity-filled academic year. The school also has a busy and diverse Extra-Curricular programme, with daily Extra-Curricular Clubs and a variety of residential trips for Heath House pupils. At Heath House, we have an excellent academic record at 11+ entry to leading independent and grammar secondary schools. Please view our Leavers Destinations page for further information. Class sizes are kept as small as possible to enable maximum attention for each child and greater pupil participation. The maximum class size is 18.

Murray Associates

Sharing is caring and we do both! We share our passion and knowledge; we care about the people we work with and our aim is always to help them, help grow their businesses and improve the way they do it! I started my first business in my mid-20s, which wasn’t successful – but by then I was hooked on business. I had several careers, including hairdressing and finally ended up in financial management for the salon. After a meeting with the company’s accountant, I realised most accountants had no business knowledge and that’s where the idea for Murray Associates came from. I wanted to create an accountancy practice that did more than just prepare accounts for the tax man and Companies House. I also wanted my practice to offer exceptional business advice about growing a client's business. But before I could do that I had to study and get experience!! So finally, in 1997, Murray Associates was created. Heading up an accountancy firm, I regularly came across struggling business owners and it shocked me to see so many of them struggle. They all had one thing in common… …they were selling themselves short. By offering exceptional business advice, and our expert accountancy services, my clients quickly began referring to me as the Queen of Profit! During the last 18 years, in addition to our cloud accounting services. we've been specialising in business growth and growth boosting sessions, growth workshops and individual 1:1 consultancy to help ambitious business owners boost their business profits.

Tunbridge Wells Winter Lantern Parade

tunbridge wells winter lantern parade

On the lower part of Camden Road in Tunbridge Wells, beyond the traffic lights, there are no Christmas lights. A group of local volunteers got together to organise a parade of light from the town centre, all the way down to the bottom of Camden Road as a way of lighting up the street and celebrating the diverse community that exists within the road itself. The community play ‘The Vanishing Elephant’ had taken place a couple years before and the local volunteers where keen to keep the creative and community spirit alive through the arts and so, CREATE (the community group behind organising the parade) and the Tunbridge Wells Winter Lantern Parade was born. In 2015, our long-running grant was axed. We now fund the parade ourselves with the support of generous local individuals and businesses like you. To help with our fundraising efforts, in 2019 we started making lantern making kits for people to buy so that they could either make their lanterns at one of our workshops leading up to the parade or take them away so they could make one in the comfort of their own home which couldn’t have been made possible without the help of local crafty volunteers to help put the kits together and wonderful local businesses that agreed to sell them on our behalf. To find out how you can support the Winter Lantern parade, please visit our ‘Support’ Page. What started as a fundraising event for a community theatre production has now become a staple part of the Tunbridge Wells community events calendar!

Sara Dennis Embroidery

sara dennis embroidery

It has always held a fascination for me and exploring the history, techniques and examples of embroidery from around the world has been a joy as I have learned more and more about this extraordinary craft. As well as Day Classes, the Certificate and Diploma, Summer Intensive Certificate and the Degree modules at Hampton Court Palace, I have taught at the Victoria and Albert Museum, The British Library and The Royal Free Hospital. Currently I have a studio at Lancaster Castle though I spend a lot of my time teaching and embroidering elsewhere. I run workshops and teach classes for the RSN, at Hampton Court and in Lancaster. Recently I've taught at The Brewery Arts in Kendal; Swallows and Artisans, Coniston; Farfield Mill Sedbergh; and Cumbria's Museum of Military Life in Carlisle to name a few. I also run Embroidery Groups in Kendal and Lancaster. Alongside that I continue to exhibit, recently I've curated exhibitions at Farfield Mill, at Cumbria's Museum of Military Life in Carlisle, and Lancaster Castle. And I found time to do online courses for the RSN and for the School of Stitched Textile, host a holiday for Colouricious and talks for embroidery groups. During Covid I've also taught and tutored online. When I'm not busy with all this I love undertaking renovations, and have done work ranging from samplers to a Shabraque for the Parachute Regiment's pony. This versatility came in handy working as an expert with the BBC One Programme The Repair Shop. It's busy but great fun.
