The organisation was founded as the Wildfowlers’ Association of Great Britain and Ireland (WAGBI) in 1908 by Stanley Duncan FZS and Sir Ralph Payne-Gallwey Bt. Why did Stanley Duncan form the Association? There were three main reasons why he set up WAGBI: He wanted to help professional wildfowlers. He was becoming alarmed at the increasing drainage and subsequent development of excellent wildfowl habitat. He realised that as time went by it would be necessary to defend the sport of wildfowling against the growing enthusiasm of extremists.

Marie Gratton (Beazley) AISTD/ DDI/DDE is the founder and principal of Dance Sensation School of Performing Arts. Founded in 2005, the school has rapidly grown with over 200 students currently attending. Specialising in ISTD Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz and Musical Theatre taught by an ISTD qualified teacher. Marie trained at Redroofs Theatre School in Maidenhead and then went on to further her training at Doreen Bird College in London. Marie worked in many professional shows including Grease, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Piazza dancer at Alton Towers and danced in the show Spirit of the Dance where she toured Far East Asia and Europe. She then worked for 3 years on cruise ships with Thomson, P&O and Festival cruises. Marie has taught for many years at private schools and for other principals and in 2005, she decided to fulfil her dream and start her own dance school. Dance Sensation started with 5 children and now we have over 200 students whom attend Dance Sensation. Marie absolutely loves her job and is incredibly passionate about what she teaches. It’s also very important that dancing is taught by a fully qualified dance teacher who understands the body and teaches dance in a safe environment. Marie is a fully qualified Imperial Ballet, ISTD Modern and Tap teacher and is very proud of her qualifications. We are an exam based school where the children get to take exams in all 3 genres and we also perform yearly shows shannon allen dance teacher Shannon Allen Contemporary and ISTD Teacher Shannon Allen Shannon started dancing at the age of 8 at Dance Sensation and was trained by Miss Marie, focusing primarily on ISTD dance examinations and performing in multiple musical and dance shows throughout the years. She then went on to train professionally at London Studio Centre for their Theatre Dance degree course in which she graduated in 2018 with a focus in musical theatre. During her degree course, Shannon performed as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Martha in Spring Awakening and ensemble/dance roles in The Witches of Eastwick, Little Shop of Horrors and Cabaret. Since graduating, she performed at various venues within London as a dancer, and modelled for numerous styled shoots before pursuing a career in teaching. Alongside teaching dance and musical theatre, Shannon works in a Primary School during the week and is currently in the process of completing her ISTD DDE Modern Teaching exams. Shannon is super excited to be joining the Dance Sensation team and we are so glad to have her back.

As a coach, Seth is dedicated to helping people calm, empower and rejuvenate their busy minds and bodies to achieve the best versions of themselves. Seth brings a wealth of experience holding heart-centered spaces. His in-depth studies, trainings, personal experiences of many therapeutic modalities such as Humanistic & Body Psychotherapy, the Human Potential Movement, 5 Rhythms, Active meditations and the teaching of the Indian Mystic Osho who he grew up with in India in the 1970s, infuse his approach to living a creative, holistic & embodied life and sharing his unique offerings with others. Seth has been facilitating regular workshops for many years. As a musician, Seth is very passionate about rhythm & drumming, has an MA in Community Music from Goldsmith College, worked as a world music percussion teacher in East London schools for almost 20 years, created URUBU collective back in 2009 as a Live Music Ecstatic Dance experience with Afro-Brazilian drummers & musicians and started his journey as an avid DJ with a love for Afro-Beat, Cuban and Brazilian music and created an Ecstatic Dance scene in London and the UK. Seth has a life-long passion for 5 Rhythms and other movement and Ecstatic Dance practices.

Artwork is carefully selected by owner Helen Carr with the emphasis on beauty, quality, and originality. The Artroom Gallery streams with light making it an ideal space for viewing art and craft. Helen has a degree in art history and will offer advice and knowledge about the artwork offering help with selection, sourcing and hanging of pieces. The gallery presents a range of affordable, unique hand-crafted artworks including paintings, prints, ceramics, glassware, and designer crafted, jewellery, textiles and items made of wood.

Melissa is a Designer/Maker whose practice is driven by sustainability. She graduated from Manchester Metropolitain University/ Manchester School of Art in 2020 - BA (Hons) Three Dimensional Design. Her main materials are green wood, biomaterials and clay. During her third year at University she began experimenting with the potential of 'Cob' - a traditional building material made from clay, sand and straw. Visually she investigates the enchanting shapes and patterns of fungal mycelia and tree roots, giving her work a biophilic aura. Describing herself as a 'craftivist', she is filled with ingenuous optimism for the planet, using her craft to make statements about our 'throw-away' society. “I like to make things that are temporary. There is a beauty and knowing that that the earth works in cycles and not everything lasts forever.”

I am drawn to making elements made from a mosaic of applied pieces to create texture and pattern. I'm Ashley Altes, a digital artist and designer based in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Art has always been at the centre of my universe - a musician in my youth, then a professional photographer in my younger years, and later becoming a specialist Arts teacher. In 2019 I began Ashley Altes Arts, after re-igniting my passion for illustrating in the classroom; I fell into textile design by chance when becoming a cloth nappy mum, designing my first seamless pattern for a Perth-based MCN brand. Since then, I have created a range of fabrics and started my own line of prints early in 2021, and have collaborated with a range of Australian businesses to create unique products, using my vibrant art style to capture the playfulness and beauty of the every-day world.

Originally formed in July 2020 by Founder Helen when she found out about Brighton and Hove council's plan to 'develop' a section of the space for housing, the Benfield Valley Project is a Constituted Community Group (CCG) that seeks to preserve and protect our local wildlife and improve the local community’s connection to the green spaces throughout the Benfield Valley. We collaborate with local wildlife and community groups to organise community events and initiatives which ensure that the beauty and ecological value of Benfield Valley is highlighted and safeguarded for generations to come. Our guiding principles are ecology, community and sustainability.
