Royal Mile Primary School

royal mile primary school

Royal Mile Primary School is an inner-city school in the heart of Edinburgh. We pride ourselves on the diversity within our school community. Overall, our classrooms are well resourced, we have an inspiring library with an extensive genre, multi-purpose room that host music tuition, social and communication groups etc. The school is situated on the Royal Mile in the heart of the old town providing us with a range of modern and historical opportunities to enhance learning experiences for our learners. We are keen to develop outdoor learning using this space and will consider how best we can build up sustainable environment options. At Royal Mile Primary School, the dedicated staff are committed to providing students with a broad and practical learning experience. Teaching staff are keen to take on leadership roles that involve whole school initiatives. We aim to continue to implement technologies across all stages, community engagement and improved learning that meet the needs of students in the 21st century. The school works closely to build on home-school-community partnerships. Community engagement builds on the strong foundations of Literacy and Numeracy at Royal Mile and are a priority for our school. We have formed strong partnerships with Canongate Youth, Holyrood Palace, Scottish Poetry Centre. Our school wishes to strengthen our community of learners to maximise the participation of all stakeholders – students, families and the wider community and promote our school as a centre of excellence, opportunity and inclusion. At Royal Mile Primary we have used a range of data to focus on improvement through Self-Evaluation. Information gathered from feedback across the school community is used to help inform improvement planning as well as data from assessment. Termly learning, teaching and assessment meetings take place between SLT, class teachers and support staff using standardised assessments and professional judgements which help identify priorities to take forward and to identify learners who may require targeted support. All staff participate in an annual performance conversations to identify opportunities for career long professional learning linked to our school priorities. Observations and sharing classroom practice are used to identify and share effective teaching and learning across our school.

Live The Life You Love

England

It's becoming incredibly popular now and for good reason, but what are binaural beats exactly? Made by bringing together two different sound frequencies to create what we hear to be a single tone, they work by breaking up the existing chatter within our brains and shifting us into a frequency of peace. My name is Jessica and I live in Buckinghamshire, UK. Ever since I can remember, the journey of creating a life that I love has been my primary focus and I have dedicated myself to my personal growth. However it was not until the age of 26 when I lost both my father and beloved sister to cancer within 3 months, that the world truly shook from under me and clarity descended around my vision of the world. It may sound like a cliché, but you see, none of us know when our number will be up. So, I left my high-powered job in London and all of my material wealth. I moved to the beautiful countryside to transform my life, follow my passion and live my authenticity and joy. 8 years has passed since then and I have been on a huge journey of transformation. Using the power of the Law of Attraction, I have created tremendous abundance in my life. I have built two 6-figure businesses, found my soulmate, bought my dream home and developed an inner world of joy and peace. Most importantly though, I am fulfilling my life’s path. I am inspiring and helping others to live the life that they deserve. The truth of life is not that you should suffer, or feel uninspired, or unhappy, and then one day, die. The truth of life is that you should thrive in a state of being who you were meant to be, doing what you were meant to do, feeling deeply joyful in your heart. You deserve this life and absolutely nothing less. What this looks like for you, is completely unique and special to only you. It is your right, and should be your joy, to create the life you love.

Jane Woods Coaching

Empowering individuals and teams to thrive, navigate the ups and downs in life and reach their potential both personally and professionally is a real privilege and a passion. Resilience, confidence, collaboration, trust and emotional wellbeing (meaning purpose, strengths and values) are the areas in which I’m most interested. My enthusiasm for coaching evolved through my 35 years of sales and management, mostly within pharmaceutical sales with Pfizer Oncology and an early career in recruitment. From sales performance coaching in 2018 I progressed to personal development coaching and at the start of the COVID 19 pandemic I started coaching via the NHS leadership academy and private sector. It was at this time that I also trained to be a cancer coach with Cancer Support UK. Whether facilitating team and leadership development days or 1:1 coaching I bring energy, fun and creativity to virtual and face to face interactions. As an ILM5 coach and facilitator my approach is empathetic, encouraging, inspiring and strengths and solution focused, drawing on a variety of coaching models and leadership practices including Appreciative Inquiry and Brene Brown’s Dare to Lead. I am an accredited Conversations Worth Having practitioner, an ILM wellbeing coach, a cognitive behavioural therapy practitioner, a mental health first aider and Mental Health Swims host. I also provide cancer coaching and support for Cancer Support UK, Youth Cancer Trust and ALK Positive and EGFR positive UK. Inspired by my love of the outdoors, and a Nature as Co-Facilitator programme, I like to weave the natural world into our conversations where possible. My top Gallop Strengths are Ideation, Strategic, Focus, Achiever & Competition. Simply put, I love bringing people together to define the challenge, establish the best of what has been before and explore what is possible in the future. “Everything we need is within” is my coaching philosophy. What can we learn from nature about resourcing ourselves and adapting to life’s ups and downs? Identifying my clients’ purpose, meaning, signature strengths and values is part of this process. Adapting to change can be uncomfortable and, like trees, this can be when we grow the most. When we create the right conditions, we can blossom.

Inspiring Skills

Llanelli

Inspiring Skills Excellence in Wales prides itself for supporting young people across Wales to achieve excellence. We do this by supporting vocational learning through Skills Competitions and the Have a Go initiative, to help encourage young people to excel in the world of work. The project, secured by the Skills Ambassador Network (SAN) in 2014, is a Welsh Government funded initiative led by Coleg Sir Gar. The SAN, was established in 2011, and consists of a dedicated network of colleges, work-based learning providers and employer-led organisations. Its primary focus, in 2014, was to develop vocational excellence, and encourage and enable greater participation in Skills Competitions by widening the knowledge and expertise across the education and training sector. We recognise that Skills competitions specifically enable young people to achieve their full potential whilst raising their skills levels to meet employer needs. They can drive productivity and prosperity in our economy and create more resilient communities. Investment in skills is an investment in the future of our country, our businesses and our people. The success of the ISEiW project saw the initiative expand in 2016 to delivering what it is today. The project spans across three platforms; Have a Go, Skills Competition Wales and WorldSkills UK Wales, and inspires and elevates young people to achieve excellence. The project provides young people in Wales with improved employability skills and life changing opportunities, with employers benefiting from an additional competitive edge – through the employment of highly skilled individuals bringing proficiency, added value to their businesses and contributing to the prosperity for Wales as a whole. The project establishes a culture across colleges and training providers that delivers more than simply qualifications – it develops world class skills, with experiences that build the confidence and life skills of individuals. A joined up approach to sharing of good practices and expertise is a priority, contributing to raising the standards of teaching and learning across Wales and embedding Skills Competitions as a method of assessing the quality of provision. Through capitalising on the creation of a Team Wales ethos we drive to raise standards and support the creation of a larger pool of highly talented individuals.

Founders story Claud M Brandt Wendy Wu What we have seen from our previous working life Claud M Brandt Claud has over 50 years working experience having worked most of his working life in the construction industry and construction industry related businesses. During his career he has worked in countries in Eastern Europe, Middle East,Clearly defined value-added business processes are vital to the success of the business. Suitable KPIs can help the company focus on what they are seeking to achieve. Company policies and procedures are essential. A company may have defined policies and procedures but without regular reviews and updates it may not reflect the changing situation of the ongoing operation of the company and the growth the company. Compliance to regularly reviewed policies and procedures is essential to the success of any company, otherwise the policies and procedures are worthless. Merely looking at revenue and cost and accounting reports monthly, quarterly and yearly without tracing back to the root cause of any deficiencies and resolving any fundamental problems in a timely manner will potentially lead to ongoing financial problems depending on the severity of the problem. Regular reviews of the accounting and reporting system can help in ensure the system is updated in line with the company’s growth. Effective costing reviews can help the company achieve better cost control and cost reduction thus better business performance. For management to make reasonable and informed business decisions, the information provided to the management needs to be on time, relevant, adequate and correct. In the digital age we now live in, information systems are vital for any business and contributes significantly to the success of a business. Many companies are adopting accounting or ERP software to help manage their business. It is very important to have experienced personnel to help in the review of a company’s existing systems or evaluate new systems a company intends to purchase and very importantly assist in managing the implementation of any new software if the company does not have an experienced inhouse project manager for software implementation.
