Who we are and what we do Established in 1999, Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership (SLLP) is a registered Charity. Each year we help between 600 and 800 people return to learn to gain new skills, qualifications and employment. We rely on a mix of income streams, including generating funds through our Bike Project social enterprise and securing grant funding for projects. Our vision: All within Surrey have the opportunity to re-engage in learning throughout their lives. Our mission: To work with partners to ensure that those, in Surrey and beyond, who have missed out on learning in the past, have opportunities to learn and to reach their full potential. What we offer: Opportunities for more people to learn by providing courses locally. Ongoing support so that they are able to continue on their learning journey. Approaches to learning which are more attractive and accessible. A shared understanding of local learning needs among education and training providers. A positive influence over the policies and planning to meet local learning needs and wants. Who do we support: Those living within disadvantaged communities in Surrey and other parts of the South-East. Adults (19+) of all ages who wish to develop new skills to gain employment, to improve their health or well-being, or to develop new interests. I am passionate about delivering useful, relevant legal training for busy practitioners to support them in developing legally literate good practice in adult social care. I am trusted and valued by a lengthy list of local authorities to provide high quality, excellent value bespoke training to their staff which engages and empowers them as practitioners. A subject expert with specialisms in adult social care and health law and in autism, my genuine commitment and enthusiasm for improving legal literacy and best practice in adult social care is evident to those attending my training. I am able to create a supportive learning atmosphere in which practitioners with a range of levels of experience feel confident to express themselves and have the space to develop their skills and reflect on their practice. My training is very popular with staff because of the relevant content and support they receive in applying the law to practice. I am readily able to answer questions at all levels and give realistic examples to support participants in applying the law to the realities of practice. In addition to my extensive experience in developing and delivering training for the public sector, I have a particular skill at explaining complex legal topics in an accessible and engaging way. I create and deliver training on all aspects of the Care Act; Adult Safeguarding law and practice from Safeguarding Enquiries to advanced legal options for complex case work; Mental Capacity law including CoP and BIA Refresher; DOLS and LPS; aspects of Mental Health Law including s.117 and nearest relative; Transitions; Human Rights and broad Legal Literacy training for Adult Social Care. I always deliver all legal training personally. Please see my current courses page for a more detailed list. I also develop bespoke, practically-focused training on all aspects of autism. I specialise in advanced autism knowledge specifically for public sector professionals: social care staff, teachers, health staff at all levels. I bring together my extensive knowledge of autism and my familiarity with the social care, health and education sectors to support practitioners with practical knowledge such as: practical communication with autistic people across the spectrum; supporting autistic people to cope with change. Many of these courses are now delivered on my behalf by a small group of autistic trainers. I also offer specialist autism training specifically for social work (including Care Act and capacity assessment of autistic people & safeguarding autistic people.) I am also able to provide specialist courses in autism for educational settings. I offer a consultancy service in both of my fields of expertise providing tailored support, research and specialist knowledge for a range of purposes. This includes change management consultancy within the public sector aimed at service improvement: around autism and/or improved compliance with legal frameworks. In the autism field, this included a successful and extensive change management project supporting an autism special school to become a Centre of Excellence, consultancy work and outreach with a range of mainstream schools across the area, local authority and health staff and a series of videos on practical autism topics for the Scottish Government. Recent work on the legal framework of social care has involved training for a variety of local authorities, including bespoke courses and advanced training on Safeguarding, the Care Act and in the area of Mental Capacity Law/DOLS/LPS. I am currently project managing a substantial project on Inclusive Governance on behalf of the National Autistic Taskforce (working in partnership with ARGH and AMASE) for Scottish Autism. I am currently Strategic Lead of the National Autistic Taskforce, led the publication of the NAT Independent Guide to Quality Care for Autistic People (April 2019) and gave a plenary presentation at the NAT Forum 2021. I represent NAT on the Workforce for Autism Group England (WAGE) co-ordinated by Skills for Health/Skills for Care and was involved with the development of the Core Capabilities Framework for supporting autistic people. Prior to my involvement with NAT, I acted as legal and policy consultant for the National Autism Project and was the company secretary of Autscape for many years.

I can’t think where the last 25 years have gone but my hobby and passion for textiles, traditional quilts, and sewing have developed into an exciting Textile/Craft experience, based on our small traditional organic farm, which I love to share with everyone. This year has been so special and I feel so honoured to have been invited to appear on Kirstie’s Homemade Britain on Channel 4. I have always tried to recycle, revamp make something out of nothing, but in the current economic climate this has become even more important and has grown into the shabby chic era, quilts can be purely decorative items or functional, but they need to be sewn with love, and provide comfort. As you come down the farm lane I hope that you can escape from the real world, meet new friends, learn or develop a new skill and eat some seriously good local and Organic (where possible) food. Or simply just relax over a Coffee whilst pondering a new project. Cowslip is hopefully a big, friendly family eager to please and welcome customers from all over the world. Whether coming for a Coffee, class, workshop, wedding, family party or just a browse in our extensive shop – we are all here to help and make your visit happy.

I’ve been a coach since 2013 on the back of a career that has been varied, bringing with it a range of life skills and experience that are invaluable to coaching. I’ve worked for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (as it was back in the day), the Countryside Alliance and I’ve served with the Territorial Army. I’ve been told that last bit was good training for raising 3 boys! There have been other adventures too. Catering (I love cooking but not professionally and am in awe of those who do), fundraising for schools and various political campaigns. For a while I thought the political life was where I wanted to go but decided it didn’t work for me alongside raising a family. Again, in awe of those who do. Working for a charity called Key4Life was a particularly fascinating and inspiring project. The common thread running through everything I have done is people. All sorts of different people from different starting points, different parts of the world, different mindsets. Building a rapport with people honestly but quickly comes very naturally to me. It is finding out your story and working closely with you to lighten the load or improve the quality of your life that is at the core of my coaching.

Collusion is an arts organisation. We create and produce new public artworks - our own and other artists' projects, that explore the creative use of technologies and the impact of emerging technology on society. Our activities support artists' talent development and place-making to deliver dynamic, imaginative new experiences for the public. We're inherently collaborative, creating new shared space with our colluders - artists and associates from the cultural and wider creative sectors, academics, commercial technologists and anyone with a contribution to make! We seek to create a supportive environment that supports playful experimentation and risk taking, leading to new ideas, collaborations, and creative innovation. Oh - and we have a great tech kit too. We're based at Cambridge Junction and in King's Lynn but work with artists from around the UK on projects across the region including in Norwich, Ipswich, St Neots and Wisbech. We're a not for profit company. Our income comes predominantly from project based grants with some generated through our support for other artists and delivering skills programmes; we have no core funding. Our mission: to build an international profile for the wider Cambridge area as an R&D centre for interdisciplinary arts and technology collaboration, to generate work that could only have been produced here.
