It is with great pleasure that I introduce our school to you. The Sacred Heart of Mary Girls’ School is a warm and caring learning community with a strong family ethos and a distinctive Catholic identity. We were founded by the Sacred Heart of Mary Sisters and the school has been on this site since 1930 and followed in their Mission and purpose. We are justifiably very proud of our wonderful school. We enjoy an enviable reputation and we have been rated on three occasions as ‘Outstanding’ by both Ofsted and the Diocese of Brentwood with inspectors noting that we are a school with a “profound sense of being a warm and welcoming family”. The Sacred Heart of Mary Girls’ School is a Catholic community with a strong family ethos and Jesus Christ at its centre. We expect our pupils to work hard and always try their very best at everything that they do. We will assist them, by providing them with the best possible learning environment and outstanding teaching, in an atmosphere of order, discipline and Christian love. The school motto, ‘Ut Vitam Habeant’ symbolises what we expect from all members of our school. Making Life Better on the Water The Newark Crusader offers affordable pre-booked cruises on the River Trent from Newark Marina for care homes, elderly, special needs, community, and educational groups with excellent disabled access, including those in wheelchairs. The pleasure of cruising on the River Trent is therapeutic, helping people relax and enjoy being in contact with wildlife and the outdoors. The Newark Crusader is a not-for-profit charity run entirely by volunteers. There is a large open foredeck, a heated saloon, a disabled toilet and a small galley/kitchen. The boat can carry up to 12 passengers and there are usually two trips a day lasting roughly 2 hours.  The cost of the service starts as low as £6 per person, but we do ask for a minimum contribution of £60 per trip towards our costs. It is my pleasure to welcome you to Willow Dene. Willow Dene is a school for children with a range of Special Educational Needs aged 2-16, primarily from the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Since 2011 we have been constantly growing and evolving to better meet the needs of our children and families. Currently, Willow Dene consists of Toucan Specialist Provision for 2 Year Olds, Willow Dene Swingate Lane for our primary aged children and Willow Dene Oakmere Road for our secondary aged children. We are lucky to be located near to leafy green spaces and at the heart of our local communities. We aim to provide the highest possible quality of education for our children. This begins with the positive relationships that all our staff team build with children and families. We know that our children learn best when they are happy and settled in school. We constantly talk to our parents and families so that they are fully included in their child’s school experience. Our highly skilled teachers and support staff ensure that our child-centred provision considers every aspect of the child’s day. Our curriculum, bespoke assessment and well-matched resourcing are all designed specifically for our children, making sure that we are always aspirational for their learning and futures.

Forge House Bakery is run by Sue Brown, owner and passionate baker with a background in Food Science, and many years experience of working in the Food Industry including running a successful wedding cake business. In the past village bakeries would have been present in most rural villages but they are now sadly few and far between. We aim to bring real bread to our local community by offering a delivery service to locals and collection points for those further afield. We specialise in naturally slow fermented sourdough breads. Our fundamental belief is that everyone should be able to eat good quality, nutritious and great tasting bread, free from unnecessary additives. There is a great pleasure in creating something wonderful from just three ingredients: Flour, water, salt. We carefully source good quality ingredients and use organic, unbleached and additive free flours milled in the UK. Where possible we also use local ingredients, including honey, ales, eggs, cheese, and milk. We also use herbs and vegetables from our garden. The process of a long fermentation using wild yeasts not only enhances the flavour and texture of bread but also improves digestibility and produces a loaf that is just better for you. Please look through our product pages. As a small microbakery we love to change our weekly breads regularly, keeping a core selection of the most popular items.
