In March 2003 Richard Long travelled to the Maasai Mara for a short photographic holiday. It was during this trip that he visited the school and learned about its needs, since then he has returned at least twice a year to assist the schools and local community. The Mara Rianda Charitable Trust is a company that was incorporated in England on 5 February 2004. Its company number is 5035681. It was registered as a charity with the UK Charity Commission on 23 February 2004. Its charity number is 1102255. It is governed by the UK Company and charity legislation. The directors and trustees are: Colin Bird Nigel Hollingsworth Richard Long Our community officer in the Mara is: Julius Karia Julius has the important role of being the charity’s eyes and ears in the Mara. Although he is a full time employee of Governors’ Camp they have generously appointed him to be our local community officer and he regularly meets with the schools, students and community and reports back to the Trustees. It would be very difficult for us to operate without his hard work and dedication. A Trustee visits the local community twice a year and establishes what the needs and problems, if any, are. The Trustees meet on a regular basis and decide on the work, funding and spending of the charity. All funds raised are used to support the schools and local community. Please note that no funds are used to meet any overheads or salaries in running the charity. The directors and trustees work without any remuneration or salary.

Qualifications I am a Level 3 First Aid & Defibrillation Instructor. I also have a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF) and can teach the full range of Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) regulated Level 2 and Level 3 Awards in a range of First Aid qualifications. My Background I have worked for over 10 years in the leisure industry as a lifeguard, duty manager and swimming teacher. Between 2009 and 2011 I lived in New Zealand and worked as a team building instructor running educational school programmes and corporate days. I instructed climbing, archery and many other activities. I also designed educational climbing programmes promoting road safety that I delivered in schools working along side the New Zealand Police and Ambulance Services. In 2012 I joined Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and work as a retained firefighter in Okehampton. I have gained many qualifications and experiences with this role and am trained as a casualty carer. It was 2015 when I gained a first aid instructor's qualification. I wanted to run courses locally and make them accessible for businesses and individuals. I am passionate about training and promoting the need for first aid at work and within communities. I am a practical person and endeavour to make my courses as interactive and hands on as possible. In 2017 I helped form a new charity to equip Okehampton with 8 Public Access Defibrillators. Oke PADs is an organisation that will maintain and provide training free of charge to the community.

Multi-award winning Pigfoot Theatre tell stories about the climate and ecological crisis, with the least carbon impact possible. An associate company of English Touring Theatre (ETT), our work ‘practises what it preaches’ (The Sunday Times on Pigfoot) and protests within an industry which, in London alone, has a carbon footprint of 50,000 tonnes a year. Our bike-powered family comedy ‘How To Save A Rock’ has toured with ETT to Northern Stage and Theatre By The Lake, with Battersea Arts Centre & Found in Music, and with support from Slung Low to the Albany, Camden People’s Theatre, Poplar Union, the Pound Arts Centre, and more. HOT IN HERE (an energy-generating dance party), co-produced by the Gate Theatre, commissioned and supported by Camden People's Theatre, toured across the UK in Autumn 2022 to venues including Theatre by the Lake, York Theatre Royal, MAST Southampton, the North Wall Arts Centre, the egg Bath, mac Birmingham, ARC Stockton Arts Centre, Nonsuch Studios, and Contact Manchester. Our new show, Hostile Environments, supported by Boundless Theatre’s Accelerator programme, will begin development in 2023. We have also run workshops, delivered sustainability consultancy, and run engagement programmes for organisations including the National Theatre, Southbank Centre, Rambert, HOME Manchester, and Guildhall School of Speech and Drama. Pigfoot began in Oxford, producing site-specific work by the River Thames and at the Oxford Playhouse. Teach Perfect was founded in 2016 to provide high quality, affordable educational support for students at every stage of the standard national curriculum. She is also an expert examiner for Edexcel marking Key Stage 2 SAT papers, for AQA marking the new GCSE specifications in English and for Edexcel marking English Language IGCSE papers. She is a Specialist Leader of Education in the Poole area, providing coaching support for English departments in other secondary schools. Her own teaching standards have been rated as outstanding. Sarah is supported by a professional team who also have the same drive to enable students to achieve beyond their own expectations. As Teach Perfect matures, we will add more subjects to our learning programme and more teaching professionals will join us.
