Life Improvement The provision of facilities for the learning, teaching, and playing of Taekwondo for the benefits of the residents of Derby and its environs with object of improving the condition of life. Many Taekwondo instructors will tell you that Taekwondo is an Olympic sport, which is true, but not all will tell you that we are the only Taekwondo Club in the city of Derby that practices Olympic Taekwondo as developed and practiced in South Korea and the only group that is a full member of the official national governing body for Olympic Taekwondo, and that is British Taekwondo which’s functions include responsibility for the selection of National Teams to compete at International and Olympic level. We have trained British and European champions. We have also had a number of students selected to train with and represent Great Britain. We also have dedicated children’s classes throughout the week at school venues across the UK.

Imaginative Drama Classes for childrenHi I’m Becca and I’m the founder and director of Dramabuds. I set up Dramabuds in May 2008 to offer classes that were new, exciting and different. Using my expertise in drama and the creative arts my idea was to create an imaginary play and drama class for the early years and Dramabuds was born! We offer classes for children aged 2 to 10 years, we base our classes around a story theme each week and we get the whole class involved in the action through drama, play, movement and song! Before setting up Dramabuds I learned my trade by studying at drama school and acting in theatres before leading and producing drama, theatre and education projects for arts companies and schools across London and the South East. I have worked with Cardboard Citizens, Cirque Du Soleil and Creative Partnerships on high profile projects. But the birth of my second daughter Eliza inspired me to create drama exclusively for the Early years. So Dramabuds was born in the summer of 2008 in my back garden with my daughter Florence (aged 2 and a half) who loves dressing up as a princess and acting out stories. A year later we were running our classes at venues across SW London and were awarded the runners up prize for ‘ Best new Activity for the under 5’s’in the whole of the UK by What’s on 4 little ones.

…I’ve been painting almost all my life, as I didn’t stop when I left school. There were many years when I’d only do the odd sketch or painting as ‘real life’ took over, but I always wanted more. Once I’d made the decision to try to realise my childhood ambitions I gave myself up to it as completely as real life would allow. It’s taken a long time, but now I make art part of my daily life. Even though …It’s now ‘the job’, I still get a big kick out of drawing and painting. There’s nothing better that looking at what you’ve achieved and see it looking back at you. Knowing exhibition sales help with animal conservation is another bonus, but it’s equally exciting to get a pet portrait commission from someone, as it is to sell something in exhibition. A lot of my time is spent teaching art, mostly to retired people. I Believe …art plays a very important role in keeping people healthy. As a teaching Artist, I want to share my life-times experience of art with other people so they can enjoy it too. My workshops and classes are growing in popularity and it’s very satisfying, knowing people are choosing to learn from me. I’d toyed with the idea of teaching art for many years, but it wasn’t until after my dad died that I decided to give it a go.

I've always had a love for paper products - buying a new diary was the hightlight of my school year and scraps of wrapping paper, sticker sheets, and vicotorian die cuts were treasured in old shoeboxes to reuse some day. I've always been drawn to kitschy imagery, glittery ephemera and colourful, quirky illustrations - looking back at my younger self, I can totally see why I do what I now do! After years of working in the corporate environment I decided to chase my bigger dream - running gooseglitters fulltime and show the world what beauty we can find in those old, vintage papers. It has become my mission to save as many secondhand books as I possibly can so you can often find me wondering around carboot sales and flea markets. Making new art from these old, used, sometimes ripped and stained, scribbled on, gorgeous papers makes me truly happy. Reusing and repurposing what is already with us and celebrating the life these books have lived, the conversations they've been part off, the households they've lived in: I seriously believe they need to be seen again. What makes me almost happier than creating collages myself is introducing others to this beautiful craft - have a look on my workshop page for more information. WiseUp Team Building prides itself on delivering team building activities that engage participants. We encourage young people to develop new skills in a fun environment. It is our belief that outdoor education should be accessible to everybody. As a consequence, we are continually developing new methods of delivery to guarantee that all participants’ needs are met. Who We Are Founded in 2011 by Richard and Alexandra Wise, WiseUp Team Building is a mobile company. We provide fun and educational activities all over the country by bringing the equipment to participants. The company started with just one van going out and delivering activity days. Now on our busiest days, we have up to nine teams out all over the country. Richard and Alexandra have over 35 years combined experience working in the outdoor education sector. Working both abroad and in the UK gave this dynamic duo a vast amount of experience working with young people. Additional years at both privately owned and government run establishments meant running activity days for students of all different backgrounds. Whilst working at a large multi activity centre, Richard and Alexandra realised the demand for an outreach service. Chatting to teachers highlighted that bringing young people off site was becoming difficult and certainly more expensive. As a result, Richard and Alexandra founded WiseUp Team Building. A fully mobile service offering the same activities run at outdoor centres to schools across the UK. Running fun and challenging activity days on school grounds significantly reduces the cost. Consequently, this means students from lower income families who can’t usually afford traditional outdoor centre visits can participate. By coming to you, WiseUp removes the complicated planning involved taking pupils off site, which is always a good thing for everyone. Most importantly, students in both Primary and Secondary schools are able to access quality outdoor education. The Team A core operational team support Richard and Alexandra with the logistics of managing WiseUp. Our fantastic activities team uses their years of experience in the outdoor industry to develop new and exciting products. WiseUp is all about innovation, not imitation. Each year, we hire and train additional instructors to deliver our activity days to the highest standard. Many of our Lead Instructors return each season. As a result, it’s not surprising to see some familiar faces returning to your school year after year. WiseUp just would not be complete without our hardworking maintenance team. They spend hours during every season making sure every piece of equipment is completely safe and beautifully painted. This results in our kit coming to schools looking great. National Awards WiseUp Team Building is often recognised for its achievements. Over the years, we have won a number of awards. For example, in 2015 Richard and Alexandra won The Kent Business Award. Previously Alexandra was listed as one of the top 30 under 30 entrepreneurs in Kent. The History A significant feature of a WiseUp Team Building activity day is our distinctive vans. I am a very warm and friendly person, I work relationally, therefor the therapeutic relationship is important to me and I like to ensure that whom I am supporting has the space needed to explore and unwind what is troubling them. I have my own therapy space at Essential Space, this is a Communtiy Interest Company that I co-direct offering pay-what-you-can counselling and creative mentoring. I am also happy to see or meet clients for 1-1 and group sessions in GP surgeries, community centres and in schools if required, and hold an enhanced DBS clearance certificate and have up-to-date Safeguarding policies and certificates. I became the founder of A space 2 Be in October 2018, over the last 28 years I have been extending my qualifications and experience to offer both adult and children's Counselling. I began Reflective & Clinical Supervision for staff working with adults in the community and in private practice, and counsellors supporting children, young people, families, and or GSRD clients. I have had counselling myself, this was a time of self-development that set me on a path, I left school and became a health practitioner, working in an institution and completing a college course in Health and Social Care. I specialised in early years and had a placement in a school, this is where I discovered a connection with young people and adults with learning differences. My career went on to working and supporting adults with rehabilitation. After becoming a mum of three children I took on the challenge of managing a well-being centre called the Isbourne in Cheltenham town centre, it was there that I realised how beneficial therapies are for supporting both physical health and mental health. I completed the mental health first aid certificates and began my counselling training. I have supported hidden victims of crime with a charity, Infobuzz. This role introduced me to working in a crisis support team, supporting families in the community and working within the criminal justice system and running creative art workshops in prison. I volunteered with Young Gloucestershire supporting their counselling service and this allowed me to extend my experience to working with young adults who were struggling with life's challenges. My adventures have continued into gaining certificates in 'Stress Less Mindfulness' and running adult sound retreats. I have naturally entwined mindfulness into my personal and professional life and have found the benefits have been endless. I have been able to share these skills with all of my clients as a mindful mindset works for anyone, anywhere and at any age! When I am not with someone in a 1-1 Counselling session, you will find me delivering training to professionals or facilitating sound baths and retreats. Most of my events are therapeutic and developed for deepening awareness with a chance to focus and recharge.
