Sarina Mann, Breakthrough Public Speaking

sarina mann, breakthrough public speaking

I graduated from the University of Southampton with a BA in Philosophy and Politics and a Master’s degree in International Relations and Development Studies. During my post-graduate degree, I was employed by the Politics Department as an undergraduate group tutor. After this, I worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Bournemouth until I made the decision to leave academia and work in the charity sector. I spent years working in the charity sector until I was diagnosed with a chronic illness that limited my mobility for almost a decade. During this time, I realised I needed to think creatively about work and that’s when my entrepreneurial side sparked and I decided to start my own business, working from home. I completed multiple courses in teaching English as a second language (ESL) as well as a Cambridge English course on how to coach people for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. From 2016 to 2022 I successfully tutored in ESL, IELTS and GCSE English language and later public speaking skills for teens (from 2019). During this time, I also joined Toastmasters International and that’s when my speaking career took off. Winning multiple awards at Toastmaster speech contests at local, regional and even national levels, I learned an incredible lesson; that the skill of public speaking isn’t something you’re born with, it’s a skill you learn, a skill everyone can learn. I experienced first-hand that becoming a confident speaker isn’t like any other skill in life. It’s a skill that transforms your life on many levels. When the fear of public speaking is no longer a feature in your life you feel freer without it hanging over you. Being confident in front of a crowd also means you feel more confident in other areas of your life and this naturally gives you a sense of wellbeing. Going through this amazing transformation myself, I soon developed a passion for helping others be the confident speakers they want to be. Now I run my own business in presentation skills for both online and offline platforms and have a range of programmes. I have a 7-week course for business owners who want to speak with confidence on camera for videos that attract their ideal clients. I also run three online group coaching speakers’ clubs for those who want more long-term, regular support: For university students and young adults who want to develop their presentation and interview skills. For non-native English speakers who want to develop their presentation skills and confidence in delivering talks in their second language. For business owners who want to develop a range of speaking skills for their business such as pitching, storytelling, selling on webinars and delivering training and online courses. I truly believe that being able to engage, persuade and simply amaze your audience is one of the single most powerful skills you can have in life and in business. I also believe that everyone can break through their fear and be the confident speaker they want to be. I believe everyone can breakthrough their fear of public speaking, find their voice, master presentation skills and speak with impact to persuade, inspire and lead.

Here at City of Peterborough Futsal Centre we try to do the upmost and best we possibly can to provide a high quality, fun and enjoyable session each time you join us. We try to create a respectful and caring environment for everyone to enjoy during their time at Club. We are all ONE big futsal FAMILY here at City of Peterborough Futsal Centre. COPFC players will pride themselves on playing attractive in and out of possession futsal. Our aim is to provide futsal to as many boys and girls of all ages, abilities, race and religion and a fun and safe environment for them to express themselves on the court with professional coaching and support. We offer sessions for boys and girls from 18 months to 16 years of age. COPFC players are encouraged to play with freedom in their game to try something new without having to fear of making a mistake. We are here to develop players both on and off the court. Coaches will offer support throughout and will be in a positive manor to prepare them for everything. Coaches will ensure players are confident with their ability to make decisions based around their attacked, their defensive formation, individual high and low pressure when introducing new strategies. Players are encouraged to think for themselves for example creating passing lines, when to dribble or pass, 1v1's, finding passes into open space to break down the defence and how to lose their defender. Each team will be taught a handful of strategies and as a team will decide what they feel is the correct one to use in the situations they experience. We are beginning to create game changes, players who are confident on the ball and can change a game but also being disciplined in their play. Being able to play in team strategies if in possession or out of possession. To be able to succeed at the above players need to find the love for the game. Players sessions and fixtures will be suitable to challenge their individual abilities. All players develop at different rates and we want to ensure training and fixtures are tailored to this and not put players in the deep end. We support the development of all. Over the last 6 years, COPFC have gone from strength to strength and this is just the start. Come and join the family.

‘You matter because you are you; and you matter to the last moment of your life. We will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully but also to live until you die.’ – Dame Cecily Saunders, founder of the Hospice movement. If you or someone you know has been told they have an illness and might not get better, then you may have heard of palliative care. This is the care that is given to patients with an illness for which there is no known cure. For some patients, this may mean that specialist care is required. Around half of our patients are learning to live with cancer. The remainder will have a diagnosis from a wide range of other illnesses such as heart disease, respiratory conditions, end stage kidney and liver disease and neurological illnesses. Our team consists of highly-experienced professionals ready to provide specialist palliative care to patients who have highly complex needs. We provide specialist nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, bereavement counsellors, social workers, complementary therapists and spiritual care support. All areas of Saint Catherine’s work are supported by a highly dedicated team of volunteers. We know that learning to live with an incurable, progressive illness goes beyond the treatment of the physical and practical. We know that people are likely to feel many different emotions throughout an illness: from fear and anger to anxiety and guilt. The feelings can be overwhelming at times for both patients and their families and friends. Our holistic approach aims at all times to provide individualised patient care, tailoring the delivery of that care to meet the needs of the patient and those close to them and in accordance with the elements of NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guideline 138, providing support and guidance for emotional and spiritual wellbeing alongside the clinical care. Patients don’t need to come and stay at the hospice in order to access our services. We have teams that can visit a patient at home. Sometimes, patients may spend time at our Wellbeing Centre or at an outpatient clinic. At times patients may need the round-the-clock care and support provided by our In-Patient Unit. Our staff and volunteers provide a respectful space where patients can chat and laugh, make friends, and ask questions. We understand sadness and listen to fears. All of our hospice services are free of charge to patients and families.
