Think of the thing that makes you most happy. When you see it or get involved in it, you light up. That is what creating art does for me. The different commissions I have undertaken have taken me on journeys I might not have otherwise gone on. Connecting with the client and finding out about the reason, motivation and need for the commission sparks all kinds of ideas. My personal art practice often includes playing with a variety of art materials. Whether it's using gouache, creating digital illustrations, using ink and bamboo or cutting into cardboard envelopes to create a scene, there is always some new way to use these materials to express an idea. Biography Originally from the American Midwest, I trained as a Fine Art major, minoring in Art Education. I currently work in Edinburgh as both an artist and an art teacher of young children. All of my art lessons incorporate Art History and the creation of artworks inspired by the work of specific artists or even just a single work by an individual. My professional practice focuses on drawing people, architecture and creating pieces using a variety of art materials. My work has been exhibited throughout the UK and USA, notably the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh and the Barbican Artists Studios in London. I divide my work time between creating illustration pieces for various corporate and private clients and teaching children and adults.

Hello lovely you, and welcome to my website. I’m Jacqueline Schultz owner of JSInteriorsUK and amongst other things I make bespoke soft furnishings and also teach these skills on weekend workshop retreats. I have oodles of exciting beautiful home ideas to share so please visit regularly for the latest blogs, resources and videos. I have always been obsessed by textiles and trimmings and have to admit often buy a piece of fabric, antique lace or trim without any idea of their immediate use or any agenda other than I find them beautiful. Living as an expat in many locations around the world, I’ve spent years making hand stitched curtains, blinds, traditional soft lampshades and other soft furnishings for my homes. When I returned to the UK, I trained as an Interior designer and started creating beautiful homes for other people. To ensure individual attention to detail and products of the highest quality I work with only a small number of clients at any one time. I oversaw all aspects of a room scheme including styling, sourcing fabrics and trimmings, designing and creating.

I am passionate about creating work and projects that reflect, ‘the everyday’, our communities and our lives. I believe that community projects should absolutely be integrated into the communities and people that they represent to act as a shared voice. I love using textiles to communicate people’s stories and heritage. I have experience using digital platforms to explore creativity in general within localised contexts, and to celebrate and map the often missed creative assets that exist within place. This approach to research and project creation allows for more informed infrastructures to be in place, better supporting localised creativity and practice. Living in Huddersfield, I have a studio in the beautiful Byram Arcade in the town centre and run workshops and projects from the space as well as selling the art that I make. I also offer consultancy and project development/support around creative projects focused on community creativity.
