St Hild College

We draw our inspiration from the first Christians to share the gospel in Britain and especially St Hild, a trailblazing example of prayer, wisdom and witness (c. 614-680AD). Our college life is geared to help people listen for the Spirit and join the work of the kingdom in their own contexts. We have an expansive view of mission that constantly enlarges our horizons. For us, this means helping to make disciples, grow and plant churches, raise new ministries, pursue transformative justice and seek the flourishing of all creation. PRAYER AND FORMATION We want to help every member of our community grow deep spiritual roots. Our aim is to be like Jesus, becoming disciples in every aspect of our lives as we share the life of God. At the heart of this is prayer. We believe in combining study, service and a deepening life with God, but we recognise that this isn’t easy. Our tutors know what it is like to face the challenges of ministry. We are committed to supporting Christian work that is hopeful, sustainable and fruitful. Formation in Christ is always costly and often surprising; it brings to light our weaknesses. We want to remain open to the profound re-making that comes when we step out on untrodden paths and learn to rely more on the grace of God. FLEXIBLE LEARNING We have an excellent track record for flexible learning. Each of our students has an individual learning pathway put together specifically for their needs. Our learning community is wonderfully diverse – our best learning is often from each other. We work with those new to academic study to build their confidence; we can also provide stretching further study for those looking to teach, write or develop original research. Our teaching faculty have subject specialisms at research and publication level in Biblical Studies, Doctrine, Spirituality, Ethics, Pastoral Care, Leadership and Mission. We are committed to rigorous academic study that deepens and enriches faith. GROWING COMMUNITY We are our students. We unite Anglicans, Baptists and Independent church members in a partnership run in the North, for the North. We bring together a diverse and hospitable community to learn in face to face settings framed by prayer and worship. Our Barnabas Teaching Centre meets on Monday daytimes at STC Sheffield. This includes a monthly Missional Leadership programme of expert speakers on spirituality and leadership followed by Formation Groups that reflect and grow together through the year. Our Mirfield Teaching Centre meets on Wednesday evenings at Mirfield, with access to a beautiful site for study and prayer alongside the Community of the Resurrection. Mirfield also hosts regular events to resource holistic mission in context Deeper Roots, Wider Horizons “The vision of our college is to help you grow deeper roots in Christ and expand your capacity to join God’s work. I believe every member of St Hild is a light that God is sending to our region. Our aim is to equip people for that calling through transformative community life, excellent theological learning and a contagious passion for the kingdom. People often say that coming to visit St Hild helps them view their future more clearly. I hope you’ll take up this invitation to see us for yourself. If you accept a place, we believe you will finish your time with us better able to follow God’s call, wherever that may take you.” Mark Powley, St Hild College Principal

Didcot,

The Faraday Institution is powering one of the most exciting technological developments of the 21st century — Britain’s battery revolution. As the world competes to define the future of energy and automation, the Faraday Institution is accelerating commercially relevant research needed for future battery development to power the transport and energy revolution for the UK. shutterstock_573049882 Our Approach The organisation was established in September 2017 as the UK’s independent institute for electrochemical energy storage research, skills development, market analysis, and early-stage commercialisation. It brings together research scientists and industry partners on projects with commercial potential that will reduce battery cost, weight, and volume; improve performance and reliability, and develop whole-life strategies including recycling and reuse. Read more about the foundation of the Faraday Institution. The Faraday Institution is the UK’s flagship battery research programme. It designs and manages focused, substantial and impactful research projects in areas of fundamental science and engineering that have commercial relevance and potential. Its research programme is defined by industry need and delivered by a consortia of 27 UK universities and 50 businesses - including 500 researchers. Technical targets include reducing battery cost, weight, and volume; improving performance and reliability; and developing whole-life strategies including recycling and reuse. As an independent organisation, the Faraday Institution regularly publishes evidence-based assessments of the market, economics, commercial potential and capabilities for energy storage technologies and the transition to a fully electric UK. Through a range of training programmes for undergraduate, PhD and early-career researchers, the organisation develops the next generation of battery scientists and engineers. The Faraday Institution is a key delivery partner of the Faraday Battery Challenge and is primarily funded through EPSRC-UKRI.

Kingston Maurward College

Dorchester

Vibrant and growing Land-based College Firstly, note that we are more than just a college. We are a college, a country estate, a dairy farm, a wedding venue, a conference centre, an arable farm, a tourist destination, the birthplace of Thomas Hardy and, most crucially, the only provider of land-based studies for 60 miles in any direction. We have a major strategic role in the development of Dorset’s rural economy, which although firmly rooted in our heritage as an agricultural provider, now spans the full range of land-based studies and beyond, from entry-level to a degree. Following a dynamic period, the College now has a financial health rating of ‘Good’, rewritten the Strategic Plan, and developed an Estate Masterplan for the next ten years, alongside confirming our Ofsted ‘Good’ grade. We have a strong platform to make the improvements required to continually strive towards outstanding status and we are looking forward to the future with ambition and optimism. The nature of the College, however, is much more than just an Ofsted grade. We are at the heart of Dorset, both emotionally and literally. Engagement and strategic positioning are vital to ensure we continue to grow both our reputation and student numbers. We need staff who will move us to the next step as part of a forward-looking organisation, rooted in the landscape of Dorset and the history of the estate. What binds us to the past is important, but it is not what defines our future; the essence of Kingston Maurward is about people, attitudes and the culture we all inherit and develop.

Fontys University of Applied Sciences

fontys university of applied sciences

Education and research are equivalent activities at Fontys. For example, they are closely linked within each study programme. Even stronger: education and research regularly flow seamlessly into one another, for example in our authentic and hybrid learning and research environments, on our campuses or close to (or even at) the future workplace. Here, students, teachers, researchers and professionals literally come together to learn and do research. Principles of education Fontys has more than one hundred different study programmes: from dance to accountancy, and from architecture to physiotherapy. Each study programme has its own unique professional context, its own curriculum, and its own way of providing education. We believe that this diversity is a major strength. No one knows better how a profession should be taught than the professionals who work with us. At the same time, frameworks are needed within which programmes can make their own choices. We have laid down these frameworks in five 'principles of learning'. We challenge students to discover and optimally develop their talents. Learning takes place as much as possible in an authentic learning environment (i.e. a situation that 'resembles' the student’s future work environment). Learning means acquiring knowledge and skills as well as exploring and experiencing together. We take 'together' literally: we work together with fellow students, teachers, researchers, and professionals working in the field. The student takes ownership of their learning process. In other words: as a student, we give you as much control as possible over what, how and when you learn. This not only means that our students are given a great deal of autonomy and freedom; we also expect them to show a strong sense of responsibility.
