Cherished Blossoms

London

At Cherished Blossoms, we provide children activities in an environment where they can be free to explore, learn and engage without limits. Cherished Blossoms, operated by Cynthia Jackson and a team of creative artists and teachers, is currently based in Kumasi, Ghana. A home educator of two active and creative souls who loves playing, drawing and having the opportunity to play computer games (what kid in our current times doesn't appreciate a bit of crazy Minecraft character creation). Our days involve studying and exploring (with the encouragement of self-directed play) and creating experiences, whether artistically or venturing out to exciting places. Sometimes, the word 'I'm bored' pops into the day, and no matter how many things you buy to appease them, it is never enough. Still, that time of 'boredom' is essential for a wind-down or an excellent opportunity to practice mindfulness and recharge and relax to stimulate the mind creatively. I understand much better now that they learn best through creative activities and imaginative play. As an entrepreneur, transformational business and life coach and writer, creating a space and environment for adding value through offering engaging, motivating and stimulating products and services that bridge the gap is a passion and dream. Cherished Blossoms aims to help instil, inspire, and allow children to learn in a fun, nurturing and engaging environment where they will be free and encouraged to think outside the box. Our dedicated team of artists and creatives are keen and willing to transfer their skills, knowledge, experience and love for what they offer their customers so that the kids can incorporate what they are learning from school into real-life experiences. We believe that children need a solid balance and opportunity to learn from academic settings and exposure to real-life experiences. We design our activities to bring out the passion and love for simple things in life that encourage explorations into what they can be or strive to be in life. We take this vision seriously and always add more activities to help us reach our goals, encouraging children to spread their wings. Welcome to Cherished Blossoms

A very warm welcome to the Balcarras School website. Our aim at Balcarras is simple: we want this to be one of the very best schools in the country. We aim to ensure that our students receive a better education here than they would at any other school, be it comprehensive, grammar or independent. To this end we were delighted recently to win The Sunday Times Southwest State School of the Decade Award. We pride ourselves that this is a school where every individual is valued and feels safe, where all students are inspired not only to do their best but to expand their horizons, and where everyone involved in school life feels a great sense of pride and enjoyment at being part of this community. We are keen to emphasise not just academic success but those areas which bring colour and vitality to the student experience, such as art, drama, sport, music and the full range of extra-curricular activities on offer. I do hope that this visit to the school’s website will give you a flavour of some of these things and an insight into what makes the school a special place to be. If you would like to follow up your virtual tour with a real one please get in touch. Dominic Burke Headteacher We want Balcarras to continue to be regarded as one of the very best schools in the country. We are proud of our values: We believe that all children have a right to feel safe at school and we endeavour to make sure that every student is engaged and inspired by their education We believe fundamentally in the value of comprehensive education We believe that all children should receive an outstanding education regardless of ability, prior attainment or background We are committed to inclusion and we will continue to strive to make sure that our provision for children with Special Educational Needs or Disability is second to none We believe in a partnership with parents, business and the local community We believe that the school should provide a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities We are committed to the highest academic standards

Stitch and Make Studio

Northampton

When small, Abigail Jackson made shoes from wallpaper sample books and lashed her brothers’ wooden building blocks onto her feet with string believing herself to be a geisha. In her bedroom she stitched gnomes on hankies and cut off the frills from her maxi dress to make clothes for Pippa the pocket-sized doll. In the kitchen her mum sat her on the draining board, put sellotape across her fringe and cut under it. Abigail Jackson became one of a tiny handful of Daventry punks, who shuffling round town in bondage trousers from Seditionaries and handmade clothes coloured in with biro pens, held together with hundreds of safety pins. In her bedroom she made homemade Sid Vicious badges with pages from the NME and sticky back plastic. Dreamt of being in The Slits and planned never to have a proper job. Abi went to Northampton Art College in the ’80’s to study fashion design and Illustration. Its this foundation of designing and pattern cutting that has coloured her judgment ever since. From opening a clothes shop in Coventry at the age of 19 to opening the studio in her 50’s Its only ever been about creating and making. Abi works as a freelancer so no two jobs are the same. She designs, sews and makes for a living, breathing, all singing, all dancing proper job. In the between times she has work as a freelance wardrobe supervisor traveling extensively and working with some wonderful people. Upon returning home she stitches in her studio, works on community or school projects, plans workshops and collaborates with other creatives in Burns Street Studios. Welcome to her website, where you can explore the studio. You can book onto a workshop which will be held at The Stitch and Make Studio and run by Abi or guest creatives. If you would like to visit the studio to view Abi’s collection of one off pieces of clothing please get in touch. Newark-on-Trent

I deliver quirky, unusual art and craft workshops in a number of local crafting venues across Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire. I can also bring Quirkshops to any suitable venue and tailor the workshop to the specific needs of a client. The workshops typically last between 2 – 6 hours, occasionally more in-depth workshops may be held over a number of weeks. My background. I have always been creative but from an early age I had to choose between a scientific and artistic career. Having spent most of my childhood holidays in Devon with my head dangling over a pontoon staring into the green-blue depths and the curious creatures within, it seemed natural for me to study marine biology (you get the octopus logo now!). A convoluted route led me through a PhD studying marine neurotoxins to a career in Public Health for 18 years. But I always wanted to create. I took a year out and started to volunteer at a local community farm, FarmEco, a magical place with the most amazing people. That is where things fell together: connecting with nature, creativity and my desire to help people to improve their wellbeing. I can often be found at the farm, hands covered in charcoal or paint and looking windswept and with a smile on my face. Nature and wellbeing. I am passionate about the benefits to our wellbeing that creativity can bring and to combine this with immersing yourself in nature can be a powerful tonic. Many of my workshops take place entirely outdoors, spending time not just creating in but connecting with nature through simple practices which awaken the senses. By connecting with nature we develop a desire to care for nature and that is something we desperately need in this time of climate crisis. Workshops. The focus of the workshops is to nurture creative talent in everyone through a wide range of art and craft skills. The experiences are shared in a group but will be unique and personal (people won’t all produce the same thing at the end) and the process is every bit as important as the things that people produce.

The Pivotal Change Academy

London

We are unique in our service, developing a highly effective program model to provide adequate time to build momentum and create lasting change in your dog. Many who've graduated from our Behaviour Dog Parenting Training (BDPT) have remarked how we've made them into a positive dog-parents and behaviourist for their dog, learning how to identify, analyze and effectively address behaviour issues before they become worse. Together, we apply knowledge, the gift of time and additional energy to your dog, delivering a powerful, life-changing shift in the way they think, feel and behave. We don't accept clients who might be unsure of their ability to do the homework required. Our client roster is full of people like you, who've committed to spending at least an hour more each day to engage in our program or decided to take our option for bi-weekly sessions. Your first step when trying to figure out a solution to a behaviour problem may be to talk to your Vet. Your Vet may refer you directly to PivotalChange.ca or they may suggest you go to a Veterinarian Psychiatrist. While we are recognized by the Complementary Medical Association (CMA) as a Canine Psychologist, it can be confusing. What is the difference? A Veterinarian Behaviourist/Psychiatrist has significantly more years in animal education, medical training and must have graduated from a Veterinary College. A potential alternative to a Veterinarian Psychiatrist is seeking a highly educated, Canine Psychologist and a Canine Behaviourist like myself. In addition to the CMA, I am accredited by the International School for Canine Psychology & Behaviour. I am also an IAABC Certified Dog Behaviour Consultant. The IAABC is an international body who has reviewed by work and recognizes those with the highest education and experience in their field. Our programs take advantage of an advanced education and experience in Strategic & Systems Thinking, and over 30 years applying current neuroscience, psychology & change science to human beings. We surround you and your dog with a team of professionally trained psychology-based behaviour specialists, with my end-to-end oversight of the behaviour progress. This allows us to flex with your schedule, and provide consistent quality results to change any behaviours.

One World Living

Bolney

Living Song exists to empower Young Artists and build communities through singing. We challenge limiting assumptions about what all young people can achieve, put young leaders centre stage and create innovative lifelong learning opportunities for all, insisting on diversity and inclusion in their widest sense. In August 2017, Living Song became a Community Interest Community (CIC) to enable us to build wider partnerships with Newham Council and other organizations, develop our funding steams and to create more opportunities for young people and communities to shine through singing. An advisory board was appointed, and we have continued to go from strength to strength. Who Are We? The company is directed by an Executive Director, with a board of two Non-Executive Directors and a team of advisors from across a wide range of music performance and education contexts. We have a Youth Board of five young people aged 16 – 25 who meet regularly to discuss and advise of relevant issues for them. We work with a range of tutors, artists and music practitioners, identified for their bespoke skills and experience for each project. Who Do We Work With? We work with schools and pupil referral units, community organisations, music education hubs, libraries, local authorities, commercial organisations, businesses and a range of community singing groups and choirs. What We Do Living Song has recently reviewed its work programme to see how it can be streamlined to maximise our impact. During the next 18 months – two years we will focus our attention on delivering three core programme areas which are: A Young Artist apprenticeship /’future leaders’ programme Delivering workshops in schools and the wider community A tailored Living Song Choral Music Experience (CME) These work areas are outlined in more detail below. Although distinct projects, the three areas of work overlap and reinforce each other, for example, a core element of the young leaders’ programme is the delivery of workshops in schools or for the wider community, and a handful of participants will be chosen to join Living Song’s CME course. For further details about our programmes, please contact us.
