We are your Students’ Union, here for all students at the University of York. Whilst we work closely with the University on many projects, we are a separate, charitable organisation. Advice If you need any support or advice during your time at York, we've got you covered. YUSU has a welcoming Advice and Support Centre, who are there to give you free, independent advice. If you need any extra help, we can signpost you to appropriate services that work best for you. Representation YUSU strives to represent all students, determined to make University an immersive, collaborative and inclusive environment. Mindfulness Connected Learning delivers mindfulness courses, events and workshops to organisations, schools communities, young offenders, parents and families. Veronica is a qualified teacher with over 25 years’ teaching experience. She has taught a variety of ages and groups of children and young adults both within mainstream and special education, including children with severe learning difficulties and with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Her motivation in teaching mindfulness is to create a space where people feel safe and valued and where they can explore and experience the benefits of mindfulness practices in a relaxed and comfortable setting. She is committed to teaching children and adults how to integrate mindfulness into everyday life. Veronica works with individuals and groups to embed mindfulness into the culture of organisations and the communities that they house, and she is committed to enhancing working and learning environments by exploring the more challenging aspects of life and work in a safe and supported context. She is motivated to teach people how to still their minds and enrich their lives by developing a curiosity and deep appreciation of life. Through the practice of mindfulness, she helps create working environments where people can flourish and where workers, teachers, parents, young people and children can develop more harmonious, meaningful and connected relationships. In addition, Trueways strives to keep survival simple and fun with an emphasis on the fundamentals. We are the UKs number one provider of Survival courses, Bushcraft courses and Wilderness skills. What do we teach at The Pole Studio? BEGINNER 1 POLE FITNESS The aim of our Beginners classes is to build your confidence on and around the pole. BEGINNER 2 POLE FITNESS You will be introduced to the first steps of inverting (going upside down) and conditioning techniques. INTERMEDIATE POLE FITNESS At this level, you will be learning more challenging moves, spins, inverts, holds and combinations. ADVANCED POLE FITNESS Our Advanced classes incorporate harder tricks, inverts, spins, holds and combinations. ELITE POLE FITNESS Our Elite levels are designed for the hardcore poler with a very high level of fitness, strength and endurance. FLEXIBILITY AND CONDITIONING This class has been specifically designed to help our students improve their flexibility. ROUTINE CLASSES This class is for students of all levels who want to explore dancing and build a routine into their Pole Fitness classes. CHOREOGRAPY These classes are for those who want to work on a routine but need an outside eye or have an idea but don’t know how to start. PRIVATE SESSIONS The Pole Studio offers private lessons for 121’s or small groups, great for those who want to learn at their own pace. POLE PARTIES Hen do? 40th? 30th? 50th? anniversary, 21st birthday? Thank goodness it’s Friday pole parties are available. PRACTICE SESSIONS Practice sessions are available at our Basingstoke, Dorking and Surbiton Pole Studios. For £10 an hour you will get a pole on your own to practice and perfect moves you have been learning within your lessons. Women’s Aid is the lead voluntary organisation in Northern Ireland addressing domestic abuse and providing services for women and children. The Women’s Aid movement in Northern Ireland began in 1975 and is made up of eight local Women’s Aid groups and Women’s Aid Federation. Each Women’s Aid group offers a range of specialist services to women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse. They are all members of Women’s Aid Federation Northern Ireland. Our mission Women’s Aid exists to challenge attitudes, structures and systems which perpetuate domestic abuse. We seek through our work to enable women, children and young people to live free from violence and abuse. Our core aims We will work collectively across Northern Ireland to: engage with women, children and young people, to give them a voice and ensure they inform all aspects of service development and delivery. provide trauma informed support services to women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse. deliver preventative education programmes in schools and community settings to promote healthy non-abusive relationships and share key safeguarding messages. educate and inform the public, private, voluntary, statutory and community sectors of the context and impact of domestic abuse. provide quality assured education and training to a wide audience, to increase capacity to respond to domestic abuse. monitor, influence and respond to government policy and legislation as a Subject Matter Expert, giving a voice to survivors of domestic abuse. work in partnership, sharing our expertise with all relevant agencies to ensure a joined-up response to domestic abuse.
