Okehampton

Qualifications I am a Level 3 First Aid & Defibrillation Instructor. I also have a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF) and can teach the full range of Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) regulated Level 2 and Level 3 Awards in a range of First Aid qualifications. My Background I have worked for over 10 years in the leisure industry as a lifeguard, duty manager and swimming teacher. Between 2009 and 2011 I lived in New Zealand and worked as a team building instructor running educational school programmes and corporate days. I instructed climbing, archery and many other activities. I also designed educational climbing programmes promoting road safety that I delivered in schools working along side the New Zealand Police and Ambulance Services. In 2012 I joined Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and work as a retained firefighter in Okehampton. I have gained many qualifications and experiences with this role and am trained as a casualty carer. It was 2015 when I gained a first aid instructor's qualification. I wanted to run courses locally and make them accessible for businesses and individuals. I am passionate about training and promoting the need for first aid at work and within communities. I am a practical person and endeavour to make my courses as interactive and hands on as possible. In 2017 I helped form a new charity to equip Okehampton with 8 Public Access Defibrillators. Oke PADs is an organisation that will maintain and provide training free of charge to the community.

Sarah's Swim School

Nottingham

About Sarah's Swim Academy Safety, fun and fitness - these are the key values we at Sarah’s Swim Academy advocate. In the South African context, water is everywhere. For a child who cannot swim, this can lead to disaster. It becomes particularly dangerous if the adults around a child cannot swim either. An instance where a child who innocently stumbles into a bucket of water, falls from a boat, leans over too far while looking at fish in a fish pond, falls or is pushed by another child into a pool could turn deadly if that child can't swim. From our watertoddlers to our adults, the safety of all our swimmers is our first priority. Swimming is an extremely important life saving skill that you should not neglect. Our philosophy is simple To passionately deliver the highest quality swimming experience to toddlers, children and adults while staying safe, having fun and keeping fit. Our classes are built around safety in the water. Our focus is to teach swimming from toddler to adulthood in a safe environment for all swimmers. We encourage parents to get involved in teaching their toddlers basic safety skills in the water and we assist parents to develop their toddlers’ natural swimming ability. As with any activity, an element of fun must always be present. Fun motivates us to continue to learn and hang in there when things become a little more challenging. We achieve this through play, which creates a fun and exciting environment for all levels of swimmers.

7AB,

Swimming strengthens your little one's heart and lungs, as well as their arm, leg and neck muscles. All this helps with their coordination and balance. It even aids a healthy appetite and improves their sleeping pattern. Enhance the bond between you Enhance the bond between you Focused time in the water builds the bond between you and your baby, through skin-to-skin and eye contact. Swimming gives you that time to really connect, away from the demands of daily life. Teach them water safety Teach them water safety There's nothing more important than your child's safety. Teaching them vital safety skills from the get-go prevents them from developing a fear of the water later and gives them the knowledge to keep themselves safe, wherever they are. Give them life confidence Give them life confidence When your little one grasps a new skill, this sense of achievement gives them the confidence to try new things. So you'll soon see them flourish in and out of the water. Develop their social skills Develop their social skills The pool is the ideal place for your little one to develop their social interaction as they play with other babies in the class. Mount Sackville remembers 160 years of Cluny Education in Ireland Mount Sackville remembers 160 years of Cluny Education in Ireland Mount Sackville remembers 160 years of Cluny Education in Ireland md3.jpgMD5.jpgMD6.jpg Saturday the 12th of December, 2020 marks the 160th anniversary of the Sisters of St Joseph of Cluny in Ireland. We wish to acknowledge the contribution and achievements of the Sisters who have been synonymous with the education of young women in Ireland for many generations. The order, founded in France in 1807 by Blessed Anne Marie Javouhey, has been instrumental in the education of thousands of young women as well as providing a novitiate for those who received God’s calling. In recent years they have also been involved in providing nursing care for the elderly. “ We have been asked to go to Ireland to teach the poor and the well -to- do. I have been assured that we could do much good there. If such be the will of God, I agree to this foundation with all my heart”. Blessed Anne Marie wrote the above in 1850. However, it was to be ten years before the congregation would set foot on Irish soil. From the time the penal laws ended many bishops encouraged religious orders to come to Ireland. The Ireland of 1860 was very different from today. Irish land was owned by landlords who played a pivotal role in shaping the rural fabric of the country and landlord–tenant relationships came to dominate the mid-Victorian period.
