As an artist and teacher working predominantly, but not exclusively in Gobeiln tapestry, content is paramount in the development of my work. I aim to create a dialogue between the subject, materials and viewer. While traditional techniques and craftsmanship are important it is the idea, the vision and my hand that defines the work. Growing up in the city, but by the water’s edge, the sea is enormously important in my life. Over the last 35 years it has provided me with a starting point for my creative journey. Whether from personal experience or research my aim is not to create a representation of the seas and oceans but something experienced, a deeply felt personal connection. It is as much a self-portrait as it is a reflection on the sea.

Our school benefits from an enthusiastic staff team with a range of experiences, talents and interests. Our school community is served by our Head Teacher and Principal Teacher alongside a team of Pupil Support Assistants, 7 class teachers and visiting teachers including our PE teacher. The school’s Principal Teacher also leads our excellent Support for Learning Department. The school is further supported by a Business Manager, a School Administrator and a Service Support Officer. We are a strong team with a great sense of humour and a desire to work together both inside the classroom and beyond. We come to work each day ready to model our values and bring learning alive for our pupils.

Velasco Walker School of Dance offers the highest standard of training in a variety of dance disciplines for children. We have classes for children aged two years and up and, cater for absolute beginners to those with dance experience. Everyone is welcome. The ethos of our school is to create a fun, inclusive and friendly environment but well structured and disciplined classes. The safe and nurturing atmosphere allows our teaching staff to instil a love for the art of performing in our pupils. All of our teachers have been professionally trained and have had highly successful professional careers in dance and performing arts. Our mission is to use our professional dance backgrounds to enrich our pupil’s lives through the art of dance, imaginative play and the power of creativity. This is a great place to begin a child’s journey through the world of dance and performing arts.
