Overdale Junior School is a multicultural academy school in the Local Authority of Leicester, and is a friendly and welcoming place where we promote creativity and the enjoyment of learning. We are situated on the southern edge of the city of Leicester in a mainly residential area. Our school campus is shared with Overdale Infant School, with which there is increasingly close liaison. The school was opened in September 1956, with a new extension added in 2009. We have 16 mixed ability classes across Years 3 to 6 and the children develop strong relationships with the teachers and peers through their learning and extracurricular activities. We are fortunate to have a great deal of outside space at the school, including all weather playgrounds, a sports field and a wooded area and we are an established Forest School to make even more use of the green space around the school for learning opportunities.

Kentigern was born in 518. He was the son of Tannoch, a princess of Lothian, who has given her name to St Enoch's Square in Glasgow, and to Tannochside near Uddingston. Tannoch's father was a pagan and when she adopted Christianity she was expelled from her home. During her wanderings she was raped, and her father ordered that she be set adrift in an open boat at Aberlady in order that her pregnancy should not bring a slur on the family name. The boat was washed upon the shore at the Christian settlement of Culross and there the infant Kentigern was born. He was christened Kendyern, British for "Great Chief'. (The British form indicates that the 'g' should be soft. The hard 'g' perhaps arises from the fact that Jocelyn wrote in Latin). But within the community he was often referred to by the pet name of Myncho, which has become Mungo, and means "little dear". It is by this name that he is known as the patron saint of Glasgow.

This has over time evolved into a program which holistically develops the cognition, physical skills, social interaction, imagination, creativity, communication, autonomy, musicality, confidence and love of learning in little ones. Over the 10 years Babylove has been running Claire has identified a real need to offer mums more support. To do this skillfully she has teamed up with LushTums founder Clare Maddalen, an inspiration in the ante natal, birth and post natal world. Currently Claire is completing Ante Natal training with Clare through her amazing Lush Tums Program. Beth is an HCPC registered Senior Paediatric Physiotherapist who graduated from Cardiff University with a BSc Hons degree. Aside from running ‘The Mini Movement’ Beth has over 10 years of experience working as a paediatric physiotherapist in the NHS and private sector. She has a particular interest in infant development and ‘early years. Starting from birth, children develop brain neural connections through their everyday experiences and her experience has taught her that these are escalated through positive interactions with their parents and caregivers and by using their senses to interact with the world. The relationship between gross motor development, sensory integration and learning through play continues to fascinate and amaze her and she has a real passion for bringing these elements to The Mini Movement curriculum. Beth is also a trained performer and dance teacher, with a passion for musical theatre, and has been involved in many professional performances and events around South Wales. Beth utilises her performance skills and physiotherapy knowledge to engage the children and promote their development in every class. Beth creates the syllabus for The Mini Movement and all staff partake in regular training and development sessions with Beth.
