National Back Exchange (referred to as “NBE”) is a non-profit membership association whose goal is to develop, disseminate and promote evidence-based best practice in all aspects of moving and handling and musculoskeletal health. It is run on a voluntary basis by a National Executive elected from the membership and administered from a central office in Gosforth, Newcastle. NBE’s vision for “Excellence in all aspects of moving and handling” is supported with aims to reflect the growing recognition and significance of its work. The association consults widely with other organisations / stakeholders having similar goals and actively contributes to national working parties and projects as well as supporting research and practice development. ‘Column’, the journal of NBE, provides a valuable means of communication and is supported by web-based members’ forums where topics can be freely discussed and advice sought. Since 1992 NBE has run a highly respected and successful 3 day residential conference in September for people with an interest in moving and handling. The membership of NBE includes professionals from a wide range of disciplines, including: Health and social care Therapies Education Health and safety Ergonomics Equipment manufacturing Industry The development of an Advanced Membership category (similar to a post graduate diploma) in 2006 has increased the professionalism and recognition of personnel engaged in this field. Networking and support of our members is facilitated by an interactive website, including a membership directory, links with organisations who share similar goals (both at home and 3abroad). NBE has a number of local affiliated groups located throughout the UK which run meetings on a regular basis. The local groups are an excellent way to promote networking, to share and disseminate information and support members at a local level. NBE also provides a number of resources to support and develop practice including a series of information leaflets and professional publications.

The Education Concierge was founded by Gabrielle Villani BA (Hons), B ED (Distinction), MA Media (Distinction), MA Literacy Development, FCollT, whose skills and expertise in educational management and independent school education span pre-preparatory (early years), preparatory (primary) and secondary schooling in both the UK and abroad. Gabrielle founded The Education Concierge in 2013 and directed this prior to joining Salamanca Group as Head of Education Services for five years. During this time, she merged her education background with experience of private client services and worked alongside family offices and private client advisors to find the most appropriate and reputable schools, university courses and careers experiences for families. In her role as a school manager of a London independent school, Gabrielle experienced first-hand the need for parents to receive impartial, trusted advice and personal attention with their child’s education. With 20 years’ experience in nurturing the academic development of children aged 3 to 17 years, Gabrielle has expert knowledge of how children learn and how to cater to their educational needs. She understands that a child’s future is shaped by the quality of education he or she receives. Supporting families with educational choices and planning ‘next steps’ in a child’s education, are two essential skills that Gabrielle brings to helping families. Gabrielle understands that in a global economy, and in senior positions of business; families are often required to move in a moment’s notice. Making a transition to the right educational ‘home’ can be complex. Amplify is a training and development consultancy led by Tom Burke. Founded in 2003, amplify provides services primarily to the voluntary sector with a focus on children and youth issues both in the UK and in the Global South. Tom has an extensive history of personal, professional and voluntary work with children and young people and the wider voluntary sector. From a child involved in youth work and global child rights advocacy, he developed skills and experience as a practitioner and advocate. He can bring this mix of experiences into work as a trainer, writer and consultant. Most recently, Tom was Deputy Chief Executive at Y Care International, the international development agency of the YMCA movement. He led their International Citizen Service youth volunteering programme, safeguarding & security, global youth work, policy & advocacy and financial management. Working part-time this was balanced with a range of freelance projects. Previously, Tom grew up in the youth and child rights movement. As a young activist, he was a member of the steering group of the Child Rights Caucus at the UN Special Session on Children and director of social enterprise ‘Young People Change the World’. He was engaged in local youth participation initiatives creating platforms for young people to be heard or to access services, including in sexual health and children in care. Tom was Chair of Trustees of youth-focussed international development charity Peace Child International. He was previously Senior Policy and Change Officer at the Children’s Rights Alliance for England, where he specialised in children’s participation rights, undertaking policy analysis, Parliamentary lobbying and campaigning for change. Over the past 15 years, he has undertaken consultancy for a range of clients on projects ranging from safeguarding, inclusion, evaluation and research projects, training and direct delivery.

Information is vital to make sure people enjoy their rights. This is why in our organisation we place special emphasis on our outreach activity. We organise online and face-to-face information sessions about the EU Settlement Scheme and the impact of Brexit on EU citizens rights for different audiences. Since our foundation, we have organised more than 70 information sessions, visited more than 30 locations in Scotland and spoke to hundreds of EU citizens, employers, local authorities and third sector organisations. Outreach and drop-in clinics for EU/EEA/Swiss citizens and their family members These sessions are aimed at informing attendees of the measures they need to take in order to remain in Scotland after Brexit. Although not exclusively, we organise this type of session focusing on three main sectors: ? EU citizens living outside of Scotland’s central belt ? EU citizens, anywhere in Scotland, requiring interpretation ? Vulnerable EU citizen groups and individuals, throughout Scotland. This type of support is extremely important for EU citizens in Scotland who are concerned about what would happen to their rights after Brexit. As we know from our previous outreach and information work, there are still many EU citizens who are not sure about how to apply, have faced difficulties in making application or simply don’t know that they have to undergo this process to reside legally in the UK after 30/06/2021. In these sessions, attendees learn what the EU Settlement Scheme is; when and how to apply; their rights as an EU citizen living in Scotland; and services and resources to support them. Depending on the type and length of the event, attendees needing help with the application process can either book individual appointments with a trained OISC Level 1 (limited to the EUSS) adviser or get help on the spot.

I was born in the 1960s in Somerset, UK the eldest of two daughters of Heather and Nick Bune. My mum was a housewife and dad a welder after starting an early career as a coal miner. The coal mining industry ran in the blood of my family as both grandfathers and all of my great grandfathers were coal miners. I grew up in a happy, loving home where money was always tight. There were no daytrips, no foreign holidays for me – in fact we didn’t have a telephone until I was a teenager and we didn’t have a car until I’d left home. At school I was one of those children who sits in the middle, grey and unnoticed, yet plodding on. I got seven O levels and a qualification in touch typing –my careers ‘adviser’ told me I should am to be a secretary or a nurse. Not a chance! However, I didn’t do as well in my A levels as expected and ended up going to a more ‘lowly’ college of higher education, now Bath Spa University. I took a degree in English Literature & History and loved it. I did well in my degree, getting a high 2:1 and took a PGCE and trained to be a teacher though quickly realised this was not for me. I always wanted to be a journalist – I used that year to apply for any relevant job. I eventually got a traineeship on a local newspaper in Somerset, then two years later moved on to a daily newspaper in Swindon, where I went on to be crime reporter and then business editor. I was also running as a volunteer a radio programme for Hospital Radio Swindon.

The workshops are experiential, interactive and aimed at personal and professional growth. Places are limited. Please have a read... I love my garden it brings me such a sense of peace. As I was tending a particularly troubled rose bush, regularly troubled by black spot and aphids, I thought about how much I grow with my garden and how much of me is in it. I enjoy a sense of my own agency as I make things happen. This is not through controlling and forcing plants to be what they are not but expecting to get a healthy return in our relationship accepting limitations and sometimes choosing not to continue to grow something where I get little return or don't like what is available. This reminds me of how I have come to view relationship that if I expect to be loved and cared for in general this happens and if it does not then this is not solely my doing. I can choose to end relationships which are draining and unfruitful. The rose bush reminds me of a family member who can often cause me concern and attack me. I am now aware of how much I can safely give that relationship, without feeling drained or prickled. I get some returns enough to keep the rose bush with its limitations. I am able to keep myself open to more enriching relationship such as the honeysuckle which bounds up and offers freely this helps me tolerate the disappointments of the rose and the Lilly of the valley, which has never survived despite my efforts.

Rosey is a RGN, Midwife (lapsed) and Health Visitor. She began her career in aesthetics in 2007 with The Hospital Group and latterly, Transform Medical Group. In 2011, she qualified as an Independent Nurse Prescriber (University of Wolverhampton) and opened her first beauty and aesthetic clinic in West Bridgford, Nottingham. She left the NHS in 2012 and Transform in 2016 with her clinical skills developing to Advanced Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner. Rosey is Director of Pro Aesthetics Ltd and Pro Aesthetics Courses. Both aesthetic treatments and CPD Approved training courses for Doctors, Dentists and Nurses are offered from the Pro Aesthetics clinic in West Bridgford, Nottingham. Her passion for training and level of expertise was recognised whilst attending a course facilitated by Wigmore Medical, London when she was requested to assist the trainer! Rosey was immediately invited to join Wigmore’s esteemed panel of trainers responsible for courses in Introductory and Advanced Dermal Fillers for Doctors, Dentists and Nurses. She continues to facilitate PDO Thread training courses at Wigmore. Rosey has presented and demonstrated her clinical skills at the Wigmore Medical Open Day 2017 to an audience of 175 medical delegates and Aesthetic Medicine North. Rosey was invited to join the elite Allergan Medical Faculty as a Nurse Trainer/ Ambassador in 2017 and has led Allergan’s 5 : 1 training programmes for the Introduction to Leaders and Visionary Codes throughout the UK. She believes learning should be an interactive, supportive process whereby both trainer and delegate gain from the experience. She recognises the importance of continually developing clinical skills with the safest techniques whilst emphasising the consultation and assessment process. Past delegates have greatly appreciated her corporate background in assisting them with the Consultation process within smaller clinics. This aspect of a client’s journey is often neglected in clinical training.
