Janome UK

JANOME Corporation, popularly known as Janome, (pronounced: Ja – No -Mey), has been synonymous with quality sewing machines for over a century. In 1936, the company acquired its first mass production factory for sewing machines, starting out in Japan and now also with manufacturing plants in Thailand and Taiwan. Janome are proud of being the No.1 sewing machine manufacturer in the world and export products to more than 100 countries worldwide. Japanese entrepreneur Yosaku Ose founded the PINE sewing machine factory on October 16, 1921. He took the conventional oblong ‘shuttle-type’ bobbin and replaced it with a round bobbin. The innovative design improved efficiency and speed of the traditional sewing machine significantly. The new bobbin soon gained ground, and users affectionately called it Janome meaning ‘the Snake’s eye’ in Japanese. The name stuck, eventually becoming an official trademark JANOME in 1935 and formally adopted as the company name Janome Sewing Machine Co., Ltd., in 1954, changing to JANOME Corporation in October 2021 at its 100th Anniversary. Established October 1st, 1968 Janome UK Ltd. started to trade in 1969 as New Home Sewing Machine Co Ltd. As part of the globalisation of the Janome Group, it changed its name to Janome UK Ltd. in the mid 1990’s. Janome is now the brand leader in the UK with an extensive range of sewing machines and overlockers. Janome sewing machines are designed for ease of use to encourage all levels of sewing. Over 2 million Janome machines have been sold in the UK, with over 60 million sold worldwide. Renowned for quality & reliability at affordable prices Janome’s aim is to provide customers with an unrivalled level of service. The Janome Training School in Stockport, offering Masterclass sewing courses, is testament to their commitment to customer service and support. Since the earliest days of founding Janome products have been at the cutting edge of sewing technology. Janome was the first to develop a computerised machine for home use (the Memory 7, in 1979), the first to offer professional style embroidery to the home market (the Memory Craft 8000, in 1990) and the first to offer a long-arm quilting machine for home use (the Memory Craft 6500P, in 2003), the latest models now have up to 280mm (11 inches) of arm space, removable AcuFeed Flex dual feed, and a high resolution LCD touch screens. The Horizon Quilt Maker Memory Craft 15000 is the latest flagship model, the first ever wireless-enabled sewing and embroidery machine. It is now possible to send designs or monitor stitching using an iPad or PC. Janome believes that its customers have the right to expect that its products will provide them with truly aspirational levels of quality and value without exploiting the people who work for our suppliers. Janome adheres to high ethical standards with regards to the use of child labour, safety, pay, terms of employment and working hours.

CHaRM specialises in all things HR and Organisational Development related and we are here to help forward thinking business get the best from their people. Find out more about us by clicking on the pages below or browse our website to see the type of support we offer.CHaRM Management Specialists provides you with dedicated human resource management and organisational development support to drive the performance of your business through your people. CHaRM began life in April 1996 to provide HR support to small and medium sized businesses that did not have the benefit of receiving professional HR advice and support in the same way as large organisations did. At that time there was no-one else providing this type of support, so to be an external provider of HR support as if we were an internal part of the organisation was quite unique. We took the best HR practices from the bluechip organisations in which we had previously worked and converted them to make them useful for smaller organisations. We were very pleased to celebrate our 21st birthday in 2017, with our philosophy of building great relationships with our clients still very much at the heart of how we operate. For us, our clients always come first. On 1 April 2021 we celebrated 25 years of working in partnership with our clients, and during that time our support has grown and evolved to encompass a wide range of Human Resource and Organisational Development activities, along with delivering training programmes, but the core element of how we operate has not changed. We build long term relationships with our clients, providing HR and OD support at all levels within their businesses, and our range of training solutions has helped many managers progress through their organisations, both for their personal benefit and that of their oganisations, who have retained them. More information about what we do can be found across the pages of our website. Please browse around for more information and if you can't find what you are looking for give us a call on 0115 984 3119. Our friendly team of HR professionals is always on hand to help. All of the testimonials and feedback on this website are genuine and have been freely given. We cannot attribute the testimonials we receive unfortunately due to the nature of the work that we undertake. Our clients want confidentiality and appreciate the fact that their people operations are kept private. "I want to thank you so much for all your support during my time as Administration Manager. You have been a pleasure to work with and helped me no end!" "The team are a delight to work with and have offered valuable support and guidance through many different, and sometimes challenging, situations. The experience has been completely positive and I would highly recommend CHaRM for all HR and business management requirements." "As a small organisation that doesn't have an HR department, we have found CHaRM to be an invaluable asset to our business. Working in partnership with the high calibre individuals who make up the CHaRM team, we have been able to manage some potentially difficult employment situations with confidence and efficiency."

Yasmin Zaman - The Portable Guru

yasmin zaman - the portable guru

For 20 years I’ve dedicated my life to inspiring others by teaching the self-awareness and self-care practices of connecting to the body and mind through various styles of yoga, mindfulness meditation, physical activity & trauma sensitive approaches to healing and recovery. My own life, and decades of working with diverse groups of people all over the world, taught me that when we take good care of ourselves, we value and appreciate others, and forge a better connection with the natural world on which we depend. My Bio includes more on my background, training, research papers and publications About four decades ago, yoga originally began as a way to care for my sore bones and tender tissues traumatized by a childhood fall, taught by a specialist teacher, practising what was then known as remedial yoga, today commonly referred to as yoga therapy. I know, without a doubt, that yoga and mindfulness meditation can heal the body, centre and focus the mind and restore sagging spirits. But being human and subject to the pressures of life, I didn’t always listen! Insecurity had me chasing a career: from teaching to working my way to senior roles alongside the great and the good in global Public Relations and communications for various not-for-profits and humanitarian organisations. The stress levels were stratospheric though it provided a dubious kind of glamour! Then one day I was diagnosed with a TIA (a stroke). And I listened. You don’t have to go through the same! Today, my work is varied: working therapeutically with patients referred for psychiatric care in a team of psychiatrists, psychotherapists and others; to teaching mindfulness-based and yoga classes & courses to the public who come in all shapes, colours and sizes. I am also interested in healing traditions from other cultures as a pathway to wholeness, e.g., shamanism. It’s been my privilege to lead programmes in partnership with local government agencies, GPs, academics, schools and corporate organisations to support everyone from children, young adults, working people, stressed, anxious and clinically depressed people, & those suffering with trauma diagnoses to learn ways to restore their wellbeing with skills and knowledge with an evidence base in science, mindfulness and yoga-based traditions. I have enhanced DBS and teach either group or one-to-one sessions online or in person: Weekly group yoga and mindfulness-based meditation classes (online & in person) One-to-one sessions and courses (online & in person) Yoga and mindfulness courses & workshops for all levels (dates to be confirmed) A blog and social media posts to inspire and provide resources to oil the wheels of your week (irregular!) A few retreats a year where you can immerse yourself in learning body wisdom and mind craft among kind, friendly and welcoming groups of like-souled people. In my free time I enjoy travel or watching travel documentaries, learning languages, walks with Mother Nature, the gym (not really but I do resistance exercise), music, art and dancing – Argentine tango and historical dances from the Baroque and Regency periods with the Winchester Baroque Dancers and Duke of Wellington’s Dancers. I am a Jane Austen superfan or Janeite and appear in a BBC documentary commemorating 200 years of her death in 2017! I have twin nephews and a niece, who all started practising yoga while very young. I’m hoping to add a rescue pug to the family very soon.

Duck And dive / The Aqua Clinic

duck and dive / the aqua clinic

Bradford

Duck and Dive was formed over 25 years ago. After teaching scuba diving in Cyprus, Garry returned to the United Kingdom and opened Duck and Dive, originally teaching theory from his grandmother’s cellar in Eccleshill in Bradford. A few months later we had out grown the premises, so bought a static caravan at Moor Valley Park, Hawksworth, over the moors near Baildon. This became his base for academic training for 6 years. Previously using Shipley dive pool for practical teaching, it was limited to 45 minutes a week and it was used for as long as possible before moving to Tong pool, which we used twice a week on Thursday and Saturdays. Unfortunately, Bradford MDC closed the pool, so operations were moved to Bingley Grammar school. The pool was not deep enough for Scuba and was not fit for purpose, it was then, we decided to be in control of his own destiny and build his own pool In Shipley. Ten years ago, the journey of The Aqua clinic begun. Before the pool was built we had a fully functioning and stocked dive shop in the building next door in Shipley. It was here in the late 1990’s he started teaching technical diving and exploring ship wrecks around the UK. This led onto Garry forming a company called Narked at 60, which was his own brand of diving equipment and was one of the first online e-commerce scuba equipment web stores. This evolved into the range being sold in most major dive shops in the UK and in an array of dive stores around the world. This success meant bigger premises were required so we moved to a larger unit off Preston street in Bradford. Work commenced with the famous brand RAB clothing on our under-suit garments, Typhoon international and ISP for our buoyancy products and Bowstone diving on the design and development of utility equipment. Garry then worked with specialist metal work companies their services of laser cutting, tumbling/ deburring, electro polishing and powder coating of the stainless-steel range which helped make a more rounded product. Garry also teamed up with local companies in the Yorkshire region to offer dry suit repairs and produce his own branded Narked at 60 made to measure Dry suits, both in neoprene and membrane materials. Garry worked with Business link and target export support team (TESS) and wrote manuals for their product range and CE marked goods. This enabled him to start travelling to worldwide exhibitions, demonstrating the British made product range and signing up distributors helping him to become one of the biggest British made suppliers. This was run in line with him teaching courses in which students were using his own equipment, this included police forces across the U.K. At its peak he was teaching over 450 students a year at all levels and became some of the youngest TDI /SDI Instructors in Europe. Garry has been a PADI instructor for over 25 years and retains his qualification. Garry has worked with the BBC helping produce documentaries for the television and has written articles for the Telegraph & Argus newspaper and technical dive magazines. Garry in 2008 started work with building his own pools in the current premises and he was keen to teach main stream scuba and offer specialised swimming lessons which is offered today in Duck and Dive.

We create innovative web-based applications to help all levels of the education sector, from pupils, teachers and school leaders right through to local authorities and large academy chains. Our tools are used nationwide, as well as internationally. We Believe… Everyone deserves a quality education; Freedom & creativity breed innovation; Excellence should be noticed & rewarded; Life is better with some fun & personality; Greatness comes from always knowing that you can be better; Angel is not its employees, but our beliefs. Those will live forever. The Angel Circus At the beginning of 2012, we converted our offices into a Circus so that our surroundings could reflect the personality and innovation that takes place within the company. Why a circus? Because the circus is a place where talented performers train hard and work to entertain and thrill their audience. In the same way, we want to wow people with our software, customer service and support. We love seeing visitors’ faces when they come to meet Team Angel at our circus. There’s a Big Top and gypsy caravan for creative meetings, a grandstand (complete with ball pool) for presentations, a full-wall blackboard for ideas and inspiration, plus fairground mirrors, a popcorn machine and plenty of other circus curiosities for fun. Most of our staff have even learnt to juggle! And really, it’s our staff who reflect the Angel Solutions DNA more than any props ever could. How We Encourage Creativity… Beyond the circus, creativity and innovation is central to how we work. We give staff plenty of opportunities to promote and showcase their talents, whether work-related or not, and place a high value on ongoing learning. Most importantly, we always strive to celebrate effort and creative thinking in our team, just as much as we celebrate their successes. For example, our staff might… Introduce a new work process to try to save time Trial a new technology inside one of our products Teach a skill or share an idea at a lunchtime smorgasbord session Work with a totally different team on an innovation day Run a staff training session to share their knowledge Do an online course to learn something new No matter how busy we are, it’s important to us to carve out precious time like this. We hold Innovation Days every month and encourage as many people as possible to pause what they’re working on to take part. During that time, teams can mix up and people have an opportunity to work on whatever they want! At the show and tell sessions at the end of these days, presentations are always met with the sound of applause and cheering, whether or not they worked out! Our Performers More than anything else, our company culture is genuinely reflected in the wonderful people who make up our staff team. Lots of our staff have been with us a long time now — some since graduating from university — and their hard work, dedication, expertise and creativity is rewarded. My name is Lee Reade, I am a UEFA Licensed Football Coach where I have attended coaching courses up to the 'UEFA A' Licence for both players and goalkeepers. I specialise in coaching goalkeepers (although I have a number of out-field players also). I have worked with Professional Football League Clubs in their youth programmes; coaching two players who were selected for their national teams. My coaching company covers all age groups, some who are shown on the images and videos around this the theKeeper.co.uk website. All will testify to the improvements they have made due to the methods and coaching they receive and of course, what they put back into it themselves. Based in Corby the majority of my goalkeepers come from the areas of Northamptonshire/Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire & Hertfordshire. One of my main locations in Milton Keynes (where I also do Summer Camp days), has changing facilities and fitness equipment available. Having played at various levels of the game, I was attracted to the coaching side which now takes up all my time. My experiences are probably no different to what you have or will come across in your playing career! The classic 'warm up' of every player hitting balls to you at the same time; the blame that is only on you when the opponents score and the expectation that you have to be perfect in every part of your play. I have attended and seen so many coaching sessions that are more related to training than they are to actual coaching; you need both! I am sure you have experienced the same! One experience in my youth that always stood way above all others was the lack of specialised coaching and in many cases the lack of recognition for goalkeepers and the vital role that we perform. This was to become one of the main reasons to start theKeeper.co.uk. fitnessOur position is becoming even more important in many aspects of the game however most coaching (especially at youth level) is often done only for out-field players with very little specialised coaching to the goalkeepers. The game is evolving, so we need to improve the amount and quality of that coaching and to introduce new methods to develop the skills needed by the goalkeeper. My education includes a Degree level in Sports Science/Football Studies and also coaching qualifications in many other types of sports such as Basketball & Hockey - the primary reason for this was to expand my knowledge of the skills used in those sporting areas so that they could be adapted to fit goalkeepers; many of those skills are now used in my coaching sessions. I have taken Awards in specilised areas such as Fitness Instruction, First Aid & Sports Medicine along with many others, allowing me to offer greater knowledge to those I coach. Many I know cannot afford the costs for personal coaching. Quite a few of you I am sure will be playing in leagues where your club is limited or not able to offer such specific coaching. Whatever your situation, be it a certain weakness in your game that you seek assistance on or that you wish to improve your all round performance; I hope that you will find help and answers at theKeeper.co.uk. advancedtrainingI plan to offer sessions and exercises at all levels (Basic through to Advanced) that you can then use to assist and hopefully improve your own performance. As your 'Cyber Coach' I would of course always recommend that the best coaching you will ever receive is directly with a qualified coach, however, as mentioned that is not always possible. So browse my pages and see what we can do together, and if you have any problems head to the 'AsktheKeeper' page; this is where you are able to email a question that is personal to your coaching needs. I will endeavour to answer as many as possible. theKeeper.co.uk can hopefully become a source of information that will help you 'reach your goal' and fulfil your ambitions as a goalkeeper. We might even get the opportunity to personally meet on one of my Coaching Road-Shows or Goalkeeper Camps so that you too can 'experience the difference'.
