Wiltshire Equine Assisted Learning offers one to one social, emotional and mental health support through equine and animal assisted outdoor learning. creates positive opportunities for young people to thrive in the outdoors in a safe and supportive space, to reset the trajectory of life’s path. allows young people, through nurturing animals, to develop their empathy and find a sense of calm. gives learners real farming responsibilities, promoting satisfaction and pride. Being herd animals, horses seek connection and trust, and they mirror our behaviour. In working with them, learners are able to develop perspective of their own behaviour and begin to regulate their energy. All work with horses is from the ground (not ridden) and so no previous equine experience is necessary. Through interactions with animals, and the outdoor world in which they live, learners enjoy the freedom of nature, gain confidence, resilience, self-esteem and self-awareness by working on outdoor activities and a bespoke animal assisted learning program. Within our farm environment we are able to create holistic opportunities for learners to stretch their expectations and reach their full potential in a safe and supported way. Learners develop an understanding of themselves, their emotions, the perspective of others and in turn improve their focus, communication skills and their wellbeing. Preparation for adulthood Employment skills - we deliver tutoring, to include time keeping, record keeping, appropriate behaviour, health and safety, modelling good practice, team and independent work, and knowledge of job-based skills. Independent living - learners develop an abundance of practical skills, as well as communication, organisation, day to day maths, and budgeting. Engaging with the community - in working with horses, learners improve their social communication skills, their respect of self, empathy for others, body language, nurturing relationships, care and kindness. Health - learners work in the outdoors where we promote the benefit of fresh air and healthy living, activity and exercise, lifestyle choices, resilience, mindfulness and positive mental health skills. Managing transitions Learners are invited for a site visit with their support worker, parents or carers to assess the suitability of our sessions as their alternative provision. Transitions are than managed through a referral form to establish each individual learner’s needs and the tailoring of sessions appropriate to the targets of their education, health and care plans (EHCPs). Following an initial induction session we work to establish a trusting relationship in the first term, allowing the learner time to settle and familiarise, and for the facilitator to assess and develop a picture of their learner-led programme moving forward. We invite future provisions to join sessions to initiate a trusting relationship and understanding of our learner when preparing to move on or integrate into mainstream education. A portfolio of skills and CV of attainment will move with the learner, to be passed on to their next further education or provision.

Having worked in social care since college, Able Hands Together Founder Laura Tween focussed her work on adults with learning disabilities. After completing her law degree it soon became apparent that the average office environment wasn’t the space for her. She became a social care consultant, and it was through this work that she found her creative energy and passion for community projects was highly suited to being a social entrepreneur. Whilst delivering social care, Laura found that most therapeutic activities for people, like cinema or bowling, were entirely non-skills building. Laura wanted to create an offering where they could learn new skills, build their independence and work on emotional well-being simultaneously. A therapeutic farm service ticked all these boxes. Able Hands Together was established in 2015. The role of the Co-Farmer was soon born, to assist with day to day farm work, building employability, interpersonal skills, independence, and self esteem. Both staff and Co-Farmers work together to care for the animals, & plan and maintain the smallholding to make the most of the growing season. We have just had the exciting news that Able Hands Together has been approved as an Alternative Education Centre by Wiltshire County Council for Co-Farmers aged 18 and over. Laura is immensely proud of Able Hands Together and welcomes you to get in touch. Jason Rhodes Jason Rhodes Director Jason is the Managing Director of Commercial Business at Nottingham Trent University. Jason brings a wealth of business knowledge and advice to Able Hands Together. Jake Tween Jake Tween Director Jake interprets Government Policies on Education to ensure that the advice given by Able Hands Together is of a high standard. He also serves as a great consultant when it comes to the boring paperworky stuff. Nicolette Ann Shears-White Team Member Nic has worked at Able Hands Together for a number of years now and is proud to have a close working relationship with all the Co-Farmers. Having previously been a social worker, Nic is well connected with Hampshire based learning disability professionals and is very knowledgeable about safeguarding and rights. She promotes our Co-Farmers’ independence and works with a skills based approach with our clients. Carl Anderson Carl Anderson Team Member Carl is an ex-member of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. He brings a wealth of skills-based services to the farm. If something needs to be built, Carl’s the man to do it! Our Co-Farmers love helping him to construct and build everything, from goat gates to raised vegetable beds. All staff that support our Co Farmers have DBS checks, are employed with their employment history and references checked. They are trained in safeguarding, Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity. Staff receive ongoing supervision and have access to further training.

From a tiny enterprise in a spare bedroom to the largest independent first aid training provider in the UK, get to know imperative training... Humble beginnings In the third bedroom of David and Rachael Howarth's first home is where imperative training truly began in 2003. But instead of the 20 full-time staff and 200+ nationwide trainers we have today, there was just one first aid trainer in the company - and this was David! (But you can call him Dave). With a goal to become the number one first aid training company in the UK, Dave and Rachael focused on filling their freelance training diary to first begin establishing imperative training's own customer base. It was this which laid the foundation for Dave to develop the dynamic, fun and unique training style we still proudly deliver to this day. From day one, Dave and Rachael strived to work with blue chip organisations, knowing that these businesses would share the same values and goals as the growing imperative brand. Despite a challenging economic climate, Dave and Rachael were able to build a successful business and in 2005 were thrilled to welcome House of Fraser as their first major client, who still to this day chooses to work with imperative training. Nationwide Trainers, Accreditations and More... Since 2006 imperative training has gone from strength to strength, welcoming a large team of nationwide trainers to teach our courses and hiring a Trainer Manager to ensure the delivery of each session is the same high-quality and engaging experience as when Dave first began the company. Fast-forward to 2011 where we launched our websites, featuring our suite of online health and safety courses including Food Safety, Manual Handling and AED Training as well as being a hub for our exclusive first aid tips and informative blog articles. Since establishing ourselves in the training world, we've welcomed big brand names to our customer base and have continued to build strong business relations with them to this day! So far we've worked with clients such as Starbucks, Sainsbury's, Costco, Kidsunlimited, Selfridges and Radisson Edwardian Blu Hotels and look forward to building relationships with more companies as we continue to expand and grow. In October 2013, the HSE dropped approval for first aid and training companies, leaving us to choose between continuing to provide our training courses with no approval or become an accredited provider. For us, this decision was a no-brainer; of course we wanted to be able to provide accredited courses to our clients! And so we became a Diamond Approved Centre of TQUK, this means all of our training is of the highest quality and we can proudly provide nationally recognised qualifications to our learners. Going Above and Beyond Since first becoming established as a company in 2003, imperative training has gone above and beyond not only in the first-class training is provides, but in its determination to develop, grow and constantly come out on top against any other organisation. As we first began to become known in the training world, we created our very own set of company PILOT values which we strive to embody in every aspect of work we do, these are Passionate, Integrity, Learning, Ownership and Team Work. These values provide a clear insight to how we work as a company; one which cares not only about the high standards that we regularly deliver, but how as a small company we can take on a big business mindset in order to achieve our goals and also the care we take towards the well-being of our own team which has helped build the success of the brand. Our Youth Board and groups have a fundamental role in ensuring our programmes meet the needs of young participants across a wide spectrum of differing backgrounds including young people from the most deprived areas of society, those with disabilities and additional needs, and those who need support and inspiration to reach their goals and surpass limitations. Everything we do engages the rising generation of our community to work together in helping not only themselves but each other. For us it’s about inspiring young people to become Inspiring Young People. What we do As a charity, we rely on the generosity of grant-giving organisations and individuals to enable us to deliver the following: Policy and Change We are leaders within the youth sector and we are actively engaged with local government, the police, and other stakeholders to shape policy across Bucks. Our annual conference is a crucial opportunity for key representatives from the wider charity and statutory sectors to come together to discuss and share ideas on how we can make an impact on the lives of young people. Intervention and Inspiration We deliver a wide range of programmes including holistic support for vulnerable and disadvantaged young people, employability and enrichment programmes such as The Inspiration Programme, leadership and life skills initiatives, as well as delivering national programmes such as National Citizen Service and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Many participants are signposted to other Action4Youth programmes on a pathway to opportunities they did not believe were possible through disadvantage or disability. Leadership and Training We provide valuable leadership and training to our membership organisations: around 70 local voluntary youth groups so that they can operate effectively to safeguard the young people of their communities. Courses include safeguarding, diversity and inclusion, health and safety and others. Outdoor Learning Additionally, we operate an outstanding outdoor learning centre, Caldecotte Xperience, in Milton Keynes which offers a range of adventure learning activities that deliver measurable improvements in educational attainment, as well as building teamwork, bonding and trust. It is the leading centre in the region for young people with complex needs, with SEND trained staff and specialist equipment that enable those with disabilities to learn new skills in a safe and supportive environment.

We are taking measures to ensure that the wellbeing of all employees, students and suppliers is paramount during this global pandemic. Official guidance from WHO and PHE is being monitored to ensure compliance and appropriate responses. All staff have been fully briefed with regard to appropriate practices to ensure the spread of the virus is minimised. By maintaining rigorous cleanliness and hygiene standards across all of our sites we aim to minimise the spread of the virus. Full Risk Assessments have been adopted and we are working with customers, families, carers and other third parties to ensure appropriate management of our practices and procedures. Flexible, engaging and fully supported vocational day provision for young adults 16-24 and adults 25+ with mild to moderate learning difficulties/disabilities, brain injuries, autism and/or mental health located in Great Barr and Tamworth. Since 1996 we have recognised that adults who learn differently can enjoy increased independence, improved wellbeing and greater life choices through our vocational learning provision. The cut-backs in free education courses through colleges has necessitated an alternative approach which led to the establishment of Community Prospects. We felt that it was crucial that the continued funding changes should not take away the significant progress that we had seen in 100’s of students since 1996. We have dedicated ourselves to education and training for the safer use of wireless technology in our homes, places of works, schools and other public buildings. It is our sole aim to present this complex scientific information in a non-biased, easy to understand way, so that we can use this technology in a safe manner.Our aim at Wireless Education is to provide everyone everywhere with the information needed to make informed decisions about wireless technology usage and how to reduce levels of microwave radiation exposure. Our e-learning courses are tailor-made for children, parents, teachers and industry professionals who are using wireless technology at school, in the home or in the office. Quite simply we visualise a day when: Children tell their parents to switch off the wireless router or turn their mobile into flight mode, because they learned about the risks at school. Teachers are learning about microwave radiation exposure safety as part of their continued health and safety education. Every parent has easy access to information about the risks of wireless technology and microwave radiation exposure, and is able to make informed decisions about the use of their family’s wireless devices. IT specialists work together with occupational health and facilities managers, before building Wi-Fi / 3G / 4G / 5G working environments in an office: assessing the risks and ensuring all reasonable measures are taken to create a safer working environment. Mikko Ahonen (PhD): Trustee, Research & Development Mikko has worked as a researcher at the University of Tampere in Finland and Mid Sweden University for over 20 years. During the past decade Mikko has immersed himself in bioelectromagnetics research. He has written many scientific publications which focus on risk-management of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) in schools and workplaces. Additionally, Mikko has conducted EMF surveys (measurements) and delivered risk management workshops and webinars for both corporate and educational organisations. He also brings experience in educational technology, mobile learning, videoconferencing and information systems.

The Education Committee recommended at its meeting of 21 August 1997 that – ‘the adoption of a distinctive dress code chosen to enhance the ethos of the school should be encouraged in all schools’. Given that there is substantial parental and public approval of uniform, schools in Argyll and Bute are free to encourage the wearing of school uniform. In Strone Primary School, the suggested uniform is as follows: BOYS: Strone School sweatshirt (which is bright red and bears the school logo, plain red jumper or cardigan.) Black or grey trousers. White shirt or school polo shirt Black School Shoes GIRLS: Strone School sweatshirt (which is bright red and bears the school logo, plain red jumper or cardigan.) Black or grey skirts or trousers. White blouse or school polo shirt Black School Shoes PE KIT: T-shirt, shorts, training shoes. Indoor and outdoor training shoes required. T-shirt and training shoes should be kept in a bag with pupil’s name on it. At Strone Primary we use the outdoor environment as a valuable resource for our curriculum. The children are frequently outdoors and therefore we would ask that they all have a pair of wellies that they can keep in school. We are able to provide waterproof jackets and trousers for all our pupils. Please note that school uniform is not compulsory and it is not policy to insist on pupils wearing uniform or having specialist items of clothing in order to engage in all of the activities of the curriculum. As such, pupils will not be deprived of any educational benefit as a result of not wearing uniform. However, there are forms of dress which are unacceptable in school, such as items of clothing which: potentially encourage faction (such as football colours); could cause offence (such as anti-religious symbolism or political slogans); could cause health and safety difficulties (such as loose fitting clothing, dangling earrings); are made from a flammable material, for example shell suits in practical classes; could cause damage to flooring; carry advertising, particularly for alcohol or tobacco; and could be used to inflict damage on other pupils or be used by others to do so. All clothing brought to school should be labelled or marked in some way, as it is difficult for children to distinguish their own clothing from others. School Clothing Grants Grants of £100 are available for any child who will attend an Argyll and Bute Council school and whose parent(s) receive: Income Support Income Based Job Seekers Allowance Income related element of employment and Support allowance Council Tax or Housing Benefit Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit (Income should not exceed £6900) Pupils aged between 16 and 18 years who receive any of the above benefits in their own right also qualify.
