Smartkids Tuition Centre near Wombourne, Wolverhampton We are a multimedia tuition centre based in Wombourne, on the outskirts of Wolverhampton. Most of our students come from all areas of Wolverhampton, Kingswinford, and Dudley as well as Wombourne. However, we even have children who come from as far afield as Sutton Coldfield and Stoke on Trent! Here at Smartkids, we offer private and small group tuition on a range of different subjects. These include 11+ preparation, ICT, KS1 and KS2 Maths and English, and KS2 SATs practice. For older students, we offer tutoring for both KS3 and KS4 in Science, English, Maths, Humanities, Languages and of course, ICT. As a tuition centre, Smartkids Learning Success Centre is unique because we are also registered as an exam centre. Through us, students as young as 10 sit OCR Level 2 Diploma in Computer User Skills. This exam is aimed at adult learners and is not only comparable to achieving 3 A*-C grades at GCSE, but is also a qualification recognised and accepted by 6th forms, colleges, and employers. We are especially proud of the fact that not only do our youngsters have a 100% success rate at this level, but also, that the average age of our candidates is just 13 years old! The students who come to Smartkids for private tuition are all individual. Some are described by their school as gifted or talented, others are on the SEN register and have specific needs or learning difficulties. We are a small organisation who have been operating in central London for almost 20 years. Our intention is to remain small so that we can retain strong quality control over what we provide. We describe ourselves as a 'boutique' driving school which is very much focused on meeting the needs of individual pupils. All the lessons and courses we provide are designed around each individual pupil - we don't believe a one-size-fits-all approach works. Driving lessons can be a nervous experience for many of us, in the early days, there are a lot of issues for us to contend with. As we gain experience and our skills develop, life does become easier behind the wheel. The aim of our teaching style is to teach you to a point beyond the driving test, getting you to try to think and drive like an experienced driver. When you then pass your test and drive on your own, you will find the transition from a learner driver to a full licence holder, a lesser problem! That's what feedback from our previous learners tell us. The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) was established as the National Association of Theatre Nurses, NATN, in 1964. As a membership organisation and registered charity AfPP works to enhance skills and knowledge within operating departments, associated areas and sterile services departments. AfPP aims to enhance the quality of care and patient safety in the NHS and the independent sector throughout the UK. In April 2005 NATN changed its name, structures and systems in recognition of the significant changes that were happening in the healthcare sector and the wider perioperative environment and to accommodate the growing numbers of Operating Department Practitioners and Healthcare Support Workers who were previously not eligible for full membership. AfPP also works to encourage the exchange of professional information between members and co-operation with other professional bodies. These include the Departments of Health in the UK, the Perioperative Care Collaborative, the Medical Royal Colleges, Chief Nursing Officers (CNOs) of all four member countries, Skills for Health and many of the British Safety Institution Committees and other groups set up to discuss specific issues related to perioperative care. As a Speech and Language Therapist passionate about supporting children’s communication skills, I’ve created this as a space to share information, resources and ideas. I have extensive experience of working with children from 2-16 years with a range of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). I studied to become a Speech and Language Therapist at Newcastle University and developed my enthusiasm for supporting children’s communication throughout the course. Since being qualified (2011) I have worked in the NHS in the North East and in Yorkshire, supporting children in the community, early years and school settings. I have also worked directly for schools supporting the individual needs of the children as well as leading on staff training and development in specific areas of Speech and Language. I believe that communication is a vital skill in order to participate in a range of activities of daily living. Everyone deserves the support required to enable them to communicate effectively. I have worked with children with a range of SLCN and have particular interests in supporting children’s early language, speech sound development and selective mutism. We remain open every day Our impact remains high We can do this for a fraction of the cost of other day centres. We do this without any statutory funding. First, we help people by meeting immediate needs: food, shelter, clothing, and medical care. In our recovery programs, we address deeper needs for life-skills and job-skills training, and addiction recovery. We measure our progress against four criteria, which indicate to us that a life has been transformed from homelessness to hope: connection to family, commitment to sobriety, a job and a place to live, and a plan for the future.
