Yoga is far more than a work-out, it is a way of life and a journey of self-discovery. MEET KERRIE Hello! I believe in living a life full of joy, laughter, gratitude, and free of judgement. These feelings guide my teaching and practice, which is focused on nurturing students to help them better connect to themselves and to bring about a sense of balance and peace. I have been practicing meditation since a young girl taught by my mother and later as an adult practicing yoga asana too, with many brilliant teachers. My initial Hatha Yoga teacher training (200 hours) was with Daizan Roshi, a Zen Master and monk in the rigorous Rinzai tradition of Zen. He studied with the forefather of Ashtanga Yoga, Sri Pattabhi Jois in India. This Zen focus means mindfulness is at the heart of my practice, developing focus, awareness and suppleness on all levels. Training was immersive; away from modern life and the outside world. Starting each day at sunrise and finishing after dark, it was intense, inspirational and totally life changing. Training covered alignment, asana, meditation, breath-work, anatomy, philosophy and Zen. My passion for sharing yoga has led to further training in pregnancy and baby yoga (85 hours), restorative Yoga Nidra (40 hours) and Yin Yoga (130 hours; trained with the amazing Bernie Clark!). Most recently I have become certified to work in the areas of therapeutic yoga for cancer care, aligned to the British Society of Integrative Oncology and have also taken part in 'strong throughout menopause' education. Additionally, I have completed advanced training, over a number of years this included the art of sequencing, of adjustments and the subtle body including; Chakras, Bandhas and Prana (500 hours). I also have over 3000 hours teaching experience and am registered with the professional governing body, Yoga Alliance, as a senior designated experienced teacher. I have also had the privilege of staying at Plum Village in France to practice and study Zen and Mindfulness under the teachings of world renowned Zen Master and global peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. An absolutely incredible experience and such beautiful teachings, that I continue to share with anyone that will listen! My other life passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have spent time exploring India, Japan, Thailand, Borneo, Indonesia, Hawaii, Malaysia, Mexico, Canada, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Europe and many other beautiful places. I bring together and share my experiences of yoga from those places too.

Yoga and meditation makes me feel strong and in tune with my spirit. For thousands of years mankind has praised and celebrated our spirit. But modern society seems to have cut our spirit connection and the material realm has taken over. “Yoga is a very practical and effective way to rediscover and understand ourselves, and strengthen our bodies. I want to share this with my students. It’s important to have a place where we actually have the time to learn about ourselves, have a good stretch and everyone leaves the mat ready to tackle anything with a clear, calm mind!” Chet is a dedicated hatha, and vinyassa flow yoga teacher. She did her teacher training in Goa, India, with Mohinder Prassad of Mahi Power Yoga. She has a worldwide-accredited yoga teacher training qualification and is a member of the Yoga Alliance (the largest international community of yoga teachers, schools and advocates). Her journey started studying meditation and yoga at the age of 18. As many people know, yoga originated in India. A spiritual experience led her to Osho’s ashram in Pune, India, at the age of 21 where she studied more yoga and dynamic meditation. She has since spent many years training in Shaolin Tiger Crane Kung Fu, Tai Chi and Chi Gung with the Nam Yang Pugilistic Association. She has taught both adults and school children, performed in South East Asia and at the Chinese New Celebration in Trafalgar Square, London. Some of the meditation teachings in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali were later used in martial arts. Kung Fu was derived from yoga and Chet was lucky enough to find a genuine, traditional kung fu art. Her amazing teachers, Master Iain Armstrong, and Grand Master Tan Son Tin, took her to British national championship in four years where she won a Gold medal for her kung fu routines. In recent years, she has concentrated on yoga, studying hatha, vinyasa, yin, kundalini and aerial yoga. She has always been interested in Asian arts and doing things that seem impossible. As well as this, she has enjoyed a varied career, including a media career for over 15 years in PR, TV, and radio. Chet understands working under pressure both in, and out of, the office, and the importance of having an exercise routine that actually fits around your life and career. Yoga is perfect for this. You don't need a partner and you can train whenever you can. Chet’s mission is to help you reach your most supple and healthy as this ultimately leads to happiness. As well as improving fitness, you will learn about the history and philosophy of the ancient art of yoga, and develop practical ways to deal with the stresses of daily life

I guess I’m just a “singing nerd” at the end of the day! I love singing, I love listening to other people sing and I love it when people start to truly express themselves through their singing voices with power, presence and confidence. I’ve been singing all my life. I started out singing in a very good, local High Anglican church choir at the age of 7 that exposed me to harmony and counterpoint, Requiems and Latin - all whilst wearing robes and a frilly ruff! I managed to obtain my Bishops’ Chorister Award just before my voice broke, before moving to the Alto and then finally the Tenor sections of the choir. At this stage my ear was drifting away from classical choral singing and more towards Soul, RnB and Gospel (thanks Whoopi Goldberg and Sister Act!) As a Gospel Singer, I sang with the Liverpool Love & Joy Gospel Choir for many years, touring all over the country from small town halls to football stadia - I had truly fallen in love with this very expressive and emotive art form, and eventually set up Sanctified Gospel Choir who went on to win a Gospel Entertainment & Music (GEM) Award in 2005. I managed to gain a place to study music at the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) which was set up by former-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, and graduated with honours in 2003. During my time studying at LIPA, I had the opportunity to sing and perform with a vast array of talented artists and performers and fell into providing backing vocals for a number of different main-stream artists of the time. Having discovered over time that I really enjoyed singing backing vocals, was happier with my back to an audience directing as opposed to standing in the spotlight, it was no surprise to me that I ended up gravitating towards teaching singing as a side hustle. And that’s what it was, a side hustle, I had no clue what I was doing and that’s when I fortunately discovered the Speech Level Singing methodology or SLS. Upon completion of my initial SLS training, I was then also invited to Lecture in Vocals at LIPA and taught there for 12 years in total, teaching one-to-one and group singing classes to the students on the Music, Acting and Dance degree and foundation level courses. After achieving Level 3 status within the SLS organisation, I wanted to broaden out my knowledge of vocal pedagogy, vocal harmonics and acoustics, and along with a number of other teachers from around the world came together under the guidance of Dave Stroud to form what is now known as Vocology in Practice or ViP. Shortly after helping to found ViP, where I served as Education Director for a year, I obtained my MA in Music from the University of Salford, where I focussed my studies on the Psychology of Performance and the condition, "Adophobia" (literally the Fear of Singing), on which I wrote extensively for my thesis. I work hard to keep myself informed on the latest pedagogical research and developments within in the world of vocal health and how to teach to ensure that I can provide the very best for my clients. I’ve also recently started training in Laryngeal Massage so that I can bring this highly beneficial manual therapy to the my clients. Highlights of my career to date include being a Lecturer in Singing at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and helping to establish and teach on the singing program on the BA(hons) in Musical Theatre at the Institute of the Arts Barcelona. I have also been fortunate to train voices at Rare Studios in Liverpool. I arranged and directed the backing choir on the 2012 UK Christmas No.1 song "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" on behalf of the Justice Collective, for which I was awarded a Gold Disc. Aside from my teaching studio, I am the choral director for the Liverpool Community Choir, training the lead voices for the Birkenhead Operatic Society and have recently started training voices for the Pro Vocal Artist artist development program. Over the last ten years or so, my career has taken me down the path of teacher training and I am fortunate to train teachers for two organisations; BAST (Be A Singing Teacher), where I am one of only 5 teacher trainers in the world, and MVT (Modern Vocal Training), the latter of which I serve as an Educational Director. I absolutely love training new teachers; I find it to be really invigorating, plus it keeps me accountable and makes sure that I’m keeping abreast of the latest developments in my field.

Hi, I’m Lucy Branton, owner and founder of Dogholics, and for as long as I can remember I have adored animals, in particular dogs and horses. I have spent my life in training and caring for them. My first dog as an adult was a Sher Pei, at the time the vet told me I had acquired one of the most difficult breeds to train. This didn’t put me off and within a few short months, me and my Shar-Pei Louie were performing in an obedience display team with the Hull Dog Training Club, achieving gold standards in training. My next Shar-Pei became adept at agility, obedience, and rally, even running alongside a horse! Having a natural affinity with dogs and training, I soon set up a local dog training club, as a hobby, it wasn’t long before this became a well-used enterprise. I had to face it I was addicted to dogs! I knew the only way I could get my fix for my addiction was to turn it into a profession and took up dog grooming. I quickly achieved City & Guilds introduction levels locally, then taking further training in London, proving to be natural I achieved distinctions and merits, passing the Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming. I still wasn’t satisfied and started teacher training, later becoming employed at the Hull College where I originally trained. All of this has led me to want to help others, who like me love their dogs. To help dog owners and their dogs realise their potential, creating a space where dogs and their owners can come together, learn and build amazing bonds with each other. There is no love more addictive than a dog’s love and as dog owner all we ever want to do is to give them back the same love they give us. Here at Dogoholics our mission is: To help all dog owners learn how to care for their dogs in the right way giving them back the love and loyalty they so freely give to us every day of their lives!
