I have over 30 years experience of helping people with emotional, spiritual, and psychological difficulties through art, play and creativity. In groups or one-to-one, and more recently online and outdoors too - or a combination of all of these. I am a registered and qualified Art Therapist/Art Psychotherapist; I got my undergraduate degree in Art & Social Context from Dartington College of Arts in 1992 and my Art Therapy Post-Graduate Diploma (MA equivalence) from the University of Herts, UK in 1994. I’m registered (as required by UK Law to practice) with the HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council) and BAAT (British Association of Art Therapists) as both a Clinical Supervisor and Private Practitioner. I am a Kadampa Buddhist, a buddhist gilder & statue artist, a meditator, a sensitive to the energies of nature, animals, spirituality and an advocate for women’s and oppressed beings rights in a patriarchal world. I have a passion and skill for noticing what often doesn’t get noticed. Artistically when I see something – if it lingers I give it voice through acrylics, collage, digital, animation, photography and poetry. Therapeutically, if it lingers we give it voice through energy, creation, speech and sharing. I’ve published articles, undertaken research and lectured/presented nationally and Internationally since 1997. ”I am passionate about the benefits of Art Therapy and therapeutic arts as a way to help empower you toward self-understanding, connection with self, other, the wider world, and whatever for you is that beyond, emotional expression, and resilience building. My working style is honest, empathic and informed by many theories, experiences and practices”. *YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE ANY GOOD AT ART TO DO ART THERAPY* I will bring a hefty 'tool-box' into your sessions from 30+ years of working as a community arts facilitator, artist, care-worker, teacher and art therapist. Using developmental, systemic, creativity theory/practice, eastern and western psychology and philosophy, amongst many other art and life-based skills, I will use what will encourage and challenge you, without pushing you anywhere you are not willing to go. I always works from the 'now', what you bring into each session verbally, emotionally, creatively, physically and spiritually - bringing them all to play in my attunement with you, your creative expression and your way of being in the world. Even though together we will set goals for your therapy, the essence of ART THERAPY always beats its heart in your sessions with me, through spontaneity, accident, play, working together, shared-looking, relationship and exploration. Art therapy can be fun! Art therapy can also be tough. As with life the weave of these and all other emotions, memories and experiences make the tapestry. I have considerable experience of working with a wide range of people: ART THERAPY is applicable for anyone - those who simply feel lost, directionless or unhappy and want to explore themselves & their inner worlds; right through to those experiencing extreme difficulties, perhaps in need of specialist or support services, with complex needs, behavioural distress and serious mental or physical health issues. ART THERAPY by nature is adaptable and responsive to each person's needs, abilities and wants and as such, helps you feel accepted for who and where you are now. I have a particular skill working with the effect of emotional trauma in all it's guises - to achieve your empowerment, develop your resilience and help you embrace change and hold onto hope.” Maybe you struggle with verbal expression ('can't say it, won't say it, don't know how to put words to it') or you experience fear, anxiety, delusions, numbing/dissociation or any other uncomfortable feeling that is affecting your and/or others in your life? Perhaps you or someone you know has autistic spectrum conditions or is living with degenerative or palliative illnesses? I have worked with people suffering in so many ways...Acute mental health breakdown, physical ill-health/degenerative or terminal disease, bullying, growing up, painful life transitions, loss, bereavement, abuse, trauma (sexual abuse, PTSD), anxiety/depression, Aspergers syndrome, forensic histories, Personality disorders and other attachment issues.

Yoga With Debs

yoga with debs

I have been practising yoga since 2001 and Qigong since 2017. My practice includes pranayama, yoga nidra, seasonal flow, vinyasa flow, yin and qigong. All practices have influenced my physical, emotional and mental wellbeing and have been life changing. I am passionate about creating opportunities for others to experience the benefits yoga and qigong can bring. My journey has been strongly influenced by the instruction and support I have received from the teachers who have inspired me and whose encouragement ultimately led me to train as a teacher. My teaching journey started with teaching children yoga; having always enjoyed working with children and holding a firm belief in making things better and easier for them, it seemed natural to combine two of my passions – yoga and children. If only I had known then how simple breathing activities could help calm my mind and balancing as a tree could help focus my mind…..perhaps exams wouldn’t have been so stressful and bullying not been so distressing. I now teach all age groups from babies to teens and adults, including children with additional needs. My classes are influenced by the styles of yoga I have practised over the years and the teachers who have inspired me. I teach from the heart and with a sense of humour. I believe yoga is creative, fun and educational, suitable for all ages and capabilities. Yoga gives us the understanding and practical applications to be the best people we can be and to live by our values; it is an honour to have this practice in my life. I am a Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher, completing my 200 hours with Seasonal Yoga Academy in Glasgow. I trained with Birthlight to teach babies and toddlers, and holds certifications in children’s yoga with Breathe and Be You, and yoga for additional needs, completed with Special Yoga. A huge thank you to all my incredible teachers who have inspired me, encouraged me and taught me. Gemini Gymnastics Club

We have decided to cap sessions at 16 participants, to allow for space in the gym. As much as Covid regulations have eased, we believe that it is worth keeping the space in the gym. In addition to this, it makes for a better training environment if the gym is not too crowded. However, at times we may allow additional attendees at the coach’s discretion. We will continue to monitor this. We currently are not requesting participants to show a negative test before training. We would ask however that you are sensible. If you are showing covid symptoms, then please do not attend a session. If you do test positive please do let us know as soon as possible so we can contact other members so everyone can test themselves. Please do maintain social distancing as much as is possible in the gym. We will continue to review this and if we are unfortunate enough to have cases in the gym, or if government guidance changes, then we may have to think about asking for a negative test result before attending. Gemini run semi structured sessions as these sessions are for adults. There will be a group warm up and basic lines and/or conditioning at the start of each session. After this, participants will be able to use the gym as they see fit. However, there is always a coach in the room who will be more than happy to offer coaching advice and guidance if requested of them and please don’t be afraid to ask us – it is what we are there for! Coaches will also monitor the room and if a particular piece of apparatus is busy we may ask you to rotate to a different piece if you have been on the same one for a while. Whilst we make every effort to ensure sessions go ahead, please be aware that there may be times that sessions will have to be cancelled. If this happens every effort will be made to make up the missed session, either by rolling over your session to another day or adding an additional session to make up for this. This usually only happens due to staff sickness or unavailability due to training courses or competitions. BG Membership We do require all our members, whether casual or regular, to be BG registered. This is for insurance purposes as gymnastics is a high risk sport and accidents can occur. The membership is £19 for the year. If you chose not to become BG registered, then you accept that you are training entirely at your own risk and Gemini are not liable for any accidents that happen. We also reserve the right to deny entry to anyone who is not registered. https://www.british-gymnastics.org/renewal-options Missed Sessions If you cannot make a session, we understand! Life happens. However, we would appreciate it if you could let us know at least 24 hours before the session so we can fill your space. We do quite often have a waiting list due to the capped numbers. If you let us know 24 hours or more in advance that you cannot make a session, we are more than happy to roll your session over to another one WITHIN THE SAME MONTH. However, if you do not let us know then we will not allow the session to be rolled over and you will not receive a refund. Of course, if there are extenuating circumstances, we will judge these on a case-by-case basis. New Members We are always happy to welcome new members. However, I would ask that you please don’t share the booking link with anyone. If anyone is interested, then please do give them Becky’s contact details so she can set them up on the system before booking in for sessions. Behaviour and General Etiquette At Gemini we have worked hard to create friendly and fun adult sessions, where we can genuinely say most of our members become friends. To this end, any unsociable behaviour will not be tolerated. All our members and staff have a right to be respected and treated fairly. Any abuse (verbal or physical), disrespect, bullying etc will never be tolerated and if this happens you will be asked to leave the club immediately.
