A warm Welcome to Belisama Candles , Let me introduce myself, I am Sharon, and I run a candle making business based in Wales handmade in my purpose built workshop in Llanelli, where we also run candle making courses My candle making business has gone from strength to strength, what started as passing the time of day following a fractured heel bone with limited mobility (and unable to continue my regular job) making tea lights over the kitchen stove, has now amassed to a purpose built workshop in Wales where the magic happens ! Belisama offer EcoSoya® Wax to offer artisan candles and melts Handmade in Wales using traditional pouring methods Our Wide range includes our Best Selling 5 star rated Wax Tart Melts which are described as our ‘’walk into the wall’’ fragrances, due to their AMAZING scent throw, with the fragrance lasting for a minimum of 10-15 hours EACH ! (some customers reporting more!) these are really a WOW factor, only complaint you will have is they last too long! One customer describes them ''Wow is all I can say...went to Uplands market especially for your candles and melts. They are truly stunning and they smell delicious. Bought tangerine and clothes line melts picked by my children. I have it burning in the living room and I can smell it upstairs in the bedrooms after 10mins! Thank you. I will definitely spread the word. What a talent. xx'' Using only the highest quality of materials in all our products, creating luxury candles for you ~ we use a vegetable wax, being EcoSoya® which in turn produce no toxins when burning , burns cooler and slower therefore outlasting paraffin wax candles and not forgetting soy wax has a fantastic scent throw! Along with the only the best quality fragrance oils available, there is no scrimping and saving on our part! and this comes across in our candles. We are proud to say that all our products are VEGAN ~ & ECO FRIENDLY WAX WE ARE A PETA APPROVED BRAND !

Novelty Training

Articles, research and tools for the L&D professional. Insights for managing the business of learning.Talent development — especially in these stressful and emotional times — needs to adapt to meet the humanness of leadership. The decades-old go-to of routine, process and familiarity lacks one of the most compelling and relatable aspects of the human experience: weirdness. The reason our talent development industry tries to keep training as non-weird as possible is because strangeness can initially feel uncomfortable, disorganized and just plain awkward. We often see thrusting participants into their discomfort zone too quickly as risky. In psychological and neuroscience research, weirdness is also referred to as “novelty,” or something new and different. Interestingly, the current understanding of memory is that when we experience something novel in a familiar context, we can more easily store that event in our memory. A novel stimulus activates our memory center (the hippocampus) more than a familiar stimulus does. Even better, the emotional processing in our amygdala also impacts this memory formation, particularly if there is a strong emotion about that novelty. In fact, our brains process a lot of sensory information every day. The hippocampus compares incoming sensory information with stored knowledge. If the two differ, it sends a pulse of dopamine to the substantia nigra (SN) and ventral tegmental area (VTA) in the midbrain. From there, nerve fibers extend back to the hippocampus and trigger the release of more dopamine. This process is called the hippocampal-SN/VTA loop. The dopamine release in a “weird” experience also makes us more motivated to discover, process and store these sensory impressions for a longer period of time.

London

WEST is a small charity with a big aim: to inspire girls and women to study and work in non-traditional trades and careers like engineering.Wendy Miller “I was the first full-time female student to study engineering at Sheffield College. After employment as a draughtsperson and engineering project manager, I have worked in education since 2004. I am now Learning and Teaching Lead at the AMRC Training Centre, run by the University of Sheffield, which delivers Engineering Apprenticeships from Advanced to Degree Level. I joined WEST because I believe passionately that we need to actively change women’s perception of STEM careers – and men’s perception of women in engineering! There is a world of opportunity out there for young women and we are missing a lot of talent.” Pat Morton (Chair) Pat Morton (Chair) “I spent 20 years in the construction industry as a surveyor and another 20 years in Higher Education working in equality – particularly gender equality – in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) and built environment. When Ros Wall died we wanted to do something active to remember her. She was a real activist so we decided to set up WEST and support a cause dear to Ros’s heart.” Saj Parveen Saj Parveen “I undertook a foundation course in engineering at Sheffield College / Sheffield Hallam University, followed by a degree in engineering, and then a postgraduate certificate. I’m now a senior lecturer in mechanical design engineering. I love developing and inspiring the next generation of engineers and especially keen to see more women becoming engineers, which is why I got involved with WEST.”
