Our story began ten years ago when Keith West looked back on his 30 plus year career, and with a radically reinventive mindset reconsidered the way businesses could achieve their true potential. Keith climbed the ranks amongst healthcare, airline, hospitality and retail sectors, where his roles progressed from an electrician to engineer, manager to director and they taught him how the minutia within an organisation could have a profound effect on its overall performance. In 2010 he decided to facilitate his own portfolio of clients with the intention to lead them to a better way of doing things. In just over a century of manned flight, the aerospace sector has developed and changed beyond all recognition, and the members of the Union have had to develop and adapt to meet the demands of an expanding customer base, new technologies and ever changing international legal regimes. With Membership standing at 66 entities, comprising insurers, reinsurers and associations drawn from 28 different countries, we estimate that some 90% of the worldwide aerospace insurance cover is written by our members who between them provide cover for every aspect of aerospace business: • from privately-owned ultralights to entire airline jet fleets • from maintenance shops to airframe and engine manufacturers • from small general aviation airfields to major airports • from micro-satellites to commercial space launchers. If you have ever boarded a plane, after taking your seat and stowing your bag, you’ve probably looked towards the front of the plane and caught a glimpse of what was going on in the cockpit. To most of us, the cockpits of familiar planes like the Boeing 737 are places of some mystery and not a little glamour, full of a dazzling array of glinting switches and dials, urgent conversations over radios, and stylish uniforms. There can be few airline passengers that haven’t wondered, at least in passing, what it might be like to don the captain’s hat, take up their position in the pilot’s seat, and grab the controls on one of those classic routes through the skies, say from London Heathrow to Paris Charles de Gaulle or Amsterdam Schiphol. But let’s face it, for most of us, unless we have several spare years to devote to training (not to mention a natural aptitude for such things), the nearest we’ll ever get to flying a plane is to play on a simulator game, a fun but essentially unconvincing experience on our laptop or games console.

Having seen the benefits of first aid training, in giving individuals the knowledge and confidence to help in an emergency, I think it's important that as many of us as possible gain these skills. My career as a nurse in both hospitals and schools has given me both the knowledge and practical experience to deliver first aid training in a way that is effective, practical and fun. Career I have worked in busy hospital environments across many areas, including Accident and Emergency, Intensive Care, High Dependency and on a variety of wards. It's certainly been an interesting and challenging career, working alongside many dedicated and skilled colleagues. I started teaching first aid in a school setting, delivering courses to various staff members, from maintenance teams to headteachers. It was through this that I realised how important it was to make training practical and fun in order to engage trainees and build their confidence. Having a degree in psychology is highly useful when it comes to delivering our Mental Health First Aid courses. I am passionate about using my skills and knowledge to make first aid accessible to everyone, so that as individuals we can ‘make a difference’ when it matters most. Aileen Sherer - First Aid Trainer Aileen Sherer Regardless of age, ‘Train For Life’ is the mindset I want to instil in all my first aid students. I believe that having the knowledge, practical skills & confidence to deal with any emergency first aid situation, will result in successful outcomes in the workplace, at home or in the community. My passion is to make training fun, enjoyable and build confidence. Removing the fear of “what if I do something wrong” or “I don’t know what to do”, by teaching adults and children essential knowledge & skills, is extremely rewarding. Career I am a highly experienced Customer Services Professional, specialising in First Aid training and staff development. Throughout my long career, in both nursing and as a Senior Cabin Crew Member for a major airline, I have been involved in training and coaching; helping my colleagues to reach their full potential within the workplace. I have also worked in many other environments delivering Nursing care & First Aid. I've recently completed my own Level 3, Ofqual regulated Community First Responder Course with the West Midlands Ambulance Service, and am now an active volunteer within my local community, delivering first line treatment for 999 'life threatening' calls, prior to the 'calvary' (paramedics) arriving. Its an amazing feeling to be giving something back to the community, and helping my neighbours where I live and in the surrounding villages.

Victoria teaches traditional and modern upholstery skills, restoration and upcycling on your own furniture.  The Spey St teaching studio offers six dedicated workbenches with a full set of upholstery tools, airline with staple gun and an area to store your project.   Learn how to strip down, repair/refinish frame and woodwork, re-web, replace seat pad traditionally with coir and horsehair or modern foams, apply fabric and finish off with braid, piping or studs.  There are four 8 week courses per year and monthly weekend drop in sessions available to book on the website.
