The LFI offers a unique education. From primary school on, the pupils are immersed in a multicultural and bilingual environment. My name is Joel Chapman. I am a dance instructor from York, England. I became inspired by Latin and Ballroom dancing at the age of 15 after watching the hit ballroom stage show 'Burn the Floor'. My first few years were spent training in Leeds, where I achieved distinctions in all of my exams and won the national UKA championships. As I became keener to grow and develop as a dancer, I began training at Semley Studios in London, considered to be the most prestigious Latin and Ballroom training centre in the world. Here, I was coached by some of the biggest names in the business, including Strictly come Dancing's Matt and Nicole Cutler. I have also been coached by World Ballroom Champions Kyle Taylor and Scott Draper. Whilst attaining successes in the competitive world, including the UK Quarter Finals and winning the Ballroom category at the Britain's Best Dancer awards, I wanted to invest my energies into teaching. After many years of hard work and determination, I am the go-to Latin and Ballroom teacher in York. Whether you are a couple training for competitions or a retired couple looking for social dance lessons, I can offer you classes to suit your needs. I also do group classes in many different styles, offering students the opportunity to perform regularly.

Over the years several of our dancers have achieved numerous dance qualifications, attended some of the top performing arts schools in London, and a few have now returned having achieved their teaching qualifications to pass on their passion and love of dance to the next generation. We pride ourselves on being a dance school for all abilities and treat each dancer as an individual so we can cater for each individual’s needs. Our past dancers consider us their second home and proud to the part of the Dance Factory family. We opened in the year 2000 in Sutton Coldfield and quickly achieved a good reputation. The school went from strength to strength which enabled us in 2012 to move to Tamworth and have our own premises. This has been the making of our school with people travelling from Birmingham, Staffordshire, Leicestershire and Warwickshire to be part of such a professional and successful Studios. In 2008 he decided to move to the UK to pursue his competitive career and become a full-time dance professional and teacher. His focus is on great technique, emotional connection with the music and of course have fun along the way. Sergio is currently in California, USA studying American Smooth and American Rhythm and will occasionally visit the studio for some coaching.Together they competed not only in Same-Sex events but were also the first and only all-male couple to participate in Professional events, challenging the notion that a couple needs to be consistent by a male and a female. As they explored the dynamics of leading and following, it felt only right to move on to the Professional field together, where they had competed for so many years. After all, if our society has developed to accept all sorts of partnerships why should in dancing be any different? They have enjoyed competing together at the most prestigious events in the UK, including the British Open that every year summons thousands of dancers across the world.
