Caithness flagstone is a Devonian sandstone, named after the Northern Scottish county in which it is most abundant and famous for its jet black appearance when polished. The flagstone is unrivalled in its versatility and durability, as a result of this, it can be found around the world in paving, architecture and, more recently, interiors. We've spent a long time getting to know the properties of this fascinating material and discovering how best to apply its exceptional properties to stylish and practical solutions for modern living interior and exterior projects. All quarrying, processing, hand finishing and quality control checks are done by us at source in Caithness, shipping orders around the UK and beyond. Over 25 years' combined experience means we know exactly which layer to extract and how to cut and finish the stone to ensure a stunning end product. Caithness flagstone was formed some 370 million years ago as result of subsidence and deposition in a structural basin known as the Orcadian Cuvette, also known as Lake Orcadia. The material was believed to have been discovered by Stoneage farmers who used it to structure their impressive tombs. In the 19th century the Caithness flagstone industry was buoyant, and the material was shipped all over the world from 11 major quarries in Caithness. It was during this time that the 'Spittal beds' were discovered to contain the finest grade material for strength and durability combined. Norse Stone operates two quarries in Caithness - Lieurary and Banniskirk, both are located near the village of Halkirk. These are within the Spittal beds, giving us access to the best Caithness flagstone available.

I'm Lynne, interiors addict and warrior on waste. I'm passionate about inspiring you to live more sustainably in a home that looks fantastic, doesn't cost the earth (literally) and that you love. My home has become a showcase for my sourcing, upcycling, styling and thrifting skills and is used as a shoot location complete with a shed full of props that I have salvaged on my travels. I love upcycling old furniture to create unique pieces for peoples homes. I am always busy scouring charity shops and you'll often find me diving into skips to rescue something unique and interesting. Nothing thrills me more than saving something from landfill, working on it and then seeing it take pride of place in a room. As an Annie Sloan trained chalk paint teacher I hold regular workshops to help people turn their old furniture from drab to fab!

Established in 2015, Arran Street East is a craft and design studio based in the markets area of Dublin city centre, where we make pottery and woven homewares to our own functional designs. We have a studio shop and we teach craft skills in Dublin and in Schull in West Cork. We use traditional crafting techniques to make and teach our craft, throwing on pottery wheels (pottery workshops), and weaving on looms and frame looms (weaving workshops). Each piece is individually made by hand using locally inspired colours and materials, and while our pottery and textiles are designed and made to mix and match, no two items are exactly the same. Megan Crook is a self-taught textile guru. She has been expanding her craft for over 15 years. During this time, Megan has developed a cult following for her unique and eye-catching designs. From hand to machine knits and pattern cutting to tailoring, Megan inherently combines a multitude of techniques and is forever seeking more knowledge and experience. In 2018 Megan Crook Textiles was born, this brand focuses on machine embroidery and embellishment to create unique and individual surface patterns using mixed materials and novelty knitting yarns. The outcome is an inspiring array of colour and texture showcased across a range of accessories, interiors and bespoke garments all created by hand in her new studio in the heart of Nottingham. A lot goes into making every item. From sourcing, pattern drafting, grading, sampling, cutting, manufacturing, finishing, and photography. All of this is done in our Nottingham studio. With over 28 years experience in the field, great interior design is not only our business but our passion. Specialising in classic interiors with a modern twist, we aim to help create a beautiful space that tells your story. Established in historic Colchester, Simply Living was set up by interior designer Brigitte Fraser. She started her business from her home in 1992, at the same time taking a 4 year degree in Interior Design and Furnishing at the London College of Furnishings. In 2002 Brigitte opened her own shop, Simply Living, in Colchester from where she continued to run her interior design business. Now relocated to our studio in Manor Road, we pride ourselves on our loyal client base ranging from private to commercial who return year after year. We have worked exclusively for Lexden Restorations Ltd, an award-winning developer largely specialising in the restoration of listed buildings, including The Maltings in Manningtree, Sovereign Crescent on the Lexden Road in Colchester, Abbey House in St Johns as well as the Garrison in Colchester.

Upholsterer Simion Hawtin-Smith is obsessed with vintage chairs. Simion began Reloved Upholstery because of love. For years he has loved vintage chairs, not purely on an aesthetic level but also for their silent, dependable functionality. Here at Reloved, Simion offers bespoke upholstery services andcreative workshops for budding furniture fanatics. What’s more, Simion also upholsters skip-salvaged seating for the BBC One show Money for Nothing. Simion has always been interested in interiors, especially when it comes to making and restoring things. When he was a child, his mum caught him stripping the dark stain off his bedroom furniture to bring it back to the pale wood. After studying design at college, he ended up working in the barindustry, before opening his own cafe and art gallery in Manchester. He worked hard to perfect the interior, designing it himself andworking on the upholstery. The challenges of renovating a house in France, led Simion to learn how to properly upholster furniture. He met upholsterer Dennis Gilligan, who taught Simion how toupholster the traditional way. You can read more about the brilliant Dennis in this blog.

Kate Colin is a paper folding artist and designer based in Glasgow who creates bold and sculptural lighting and homewares. Inspired by origami and geometric form, her range of handcrafted folded products emphasise the interplay between light and shade. Founded in 2014, her studio manufactures products for both residential interiors and commercial clients. All work is produced in small limited edition quantities and made entirely by hand using traditional folding and fabric pleating techniques. Kate’s appreciation for the beauty and variety of geometric form was inherited from her mathematician father who made polyhedral models in his spare time. Many years later, she decided to channel this latent interest in colour, tonal variations and geometry to create a range of functional homeware products. Having received several awards and scholarships, she is continually striving to increase her knowledge of the art of folding and origami, learn new techniques and experiment with ways of applying her designs to new materials to create a variety of innovative, functional products. She regularly teaches all levels of students and hosts regular online and in-person paper folding workshops and masterclasses. She has also recently launched a new course with Domestika.

The beginnings of the Museum in Wdzydze date back to 1906. Its creators, Teodora and Izydor Gulgowscy, were the founders of the first open-air museum in Poland at that time. They arranged it in an 18th-century peasant cottage, which they bought from a local farmer - Michał Hinc. There, they gathered, typical for that time, household and farm equipment, as well as a valuable collection of gold-embroidered bonnets, paintings painted on glass and ceramics. The scientific activity and social passions of the founders of the Museum also resulted in the development of local handicrafts and discovered the beauty of Kashubian folk art, which lies in the intricate root braids and multi-colored Wdzydze embroideries. Currently, over 100 years old, the Museum covers 22 hectares of land located on the shores of Lake Gołuń, developed with objects of regional architecture. Cottages, manor houses, school, smithy, inns, windmills, churches, outbuildings and craft workshops - over 50 objects from Kashubia, Kociewie and Bory Tucholskie testify to the diversity of rural construction from the 17th to the 20th century. Faithfully reconstructed interiors with authentic equipment, periodically activated economic and industrial devices give this place an unusual atmosphere, enhanced by the picturesque location and the values of the surrounding nature
