The Gillian Easdale School of Dancing was first established in 1979 in Johnstone. In 2016 Gillian handed the school over to her daughter Rachael who is now the Principle Teacher. Although Gillian still helps at classes and makes the costumes. We have had a few changes of venues through the years. After 17 years at Glenburn Parish Church Hall in Paisley, in November 2021 we finally were able to open our own dance studios based in Espedair Street in Paisley. We are qualified and teach in the branches; Ballet, Tap, Modern Dance, Freestyle, Cheerleading and have recently added Acro Dance to our timetable. We take children from 2 1/2 years right through to adult. As well as children classes we have popular adult classes for beginner and intermediate tap. We always endevour to encourage our pupils and students to attain their best performance and improve their abilities,confidence and poise no matter whether they are 3 or 30 or over 60 years of age! Principle Teacher Rachael Walker is MBATD Freestyle and Cheer Pom, Associate Tap, Modern, Ballet through the BATD and certified in Acro Dance. She holds a HND in Fitness, Health & Exercise, and qualified through Les Mills to teach Body Attack, Body Pump and Body Sh'bam. Miss Gillian Easdale is a Fellow and Member of the BATD - Fellowship Stage, Membership Ballet, Modern Dance, Freestyle, Rock and Roll, Associate Club Latino & Country and Western. In 2004 Gillian was awarded BATD Life Membership.

We first opened our doors in June 1990 in a small 3,000 ft industrial unit in Espedair Street in Paisley. The fitness industry was very much in its infancy back in those days with no other stand-alone gyms or sports clubs in the Paisley area. Pro life was very much ahead of its time and one of a kind. Alex Whelan (7 times Scottish Body Building Champion) and family friend Brian Corkindale formed a partnership to create a state-of-the-art fitness centre in the heart of Paisley. Cybex fitness equipment and Startrac cardio machines were imported from America and over £10k was invested in fitness testing equipment. The dream very quickly became a reality and Pro-Life was born. The facility in Espedair Street quickly took off and was a major success. Alex saw the potential for expansion and in Feb 1993, Pro-Life embarked on a new chapter moving to a purpose built 12,000 sq ft unit and grew from 500 to 1200 members on its opening day. The same year Brian left the business to focus on the licensed trade leaving Alex as sole owner with the ambition to grow the business to new heights. Over the years, many further expansions and improvements have taken place to develop the centre to what we see now – an amazing 30,000 sq ft health & fitness centre with a separate stand alone five-a-side football complex incorporating 5 parks, function room, sports bar and cafe. In 2014 Pro Life entered an new exciting chapter when Alex made the decision to licence the main gym to Renfrewshire Sports Charity. The business is now run by a Board of Trustees as a registered charity. All profits made from trading go to our 2 charities – The Accord and St Vincent’s Hospices as well as supporting young up and coming talented sportspeople in the Renfrewshire Area. In November 2019 Pro Life entered the National Fitness Awards for the first time and won both categories we entered – Best Gym In Scotland and UK Strength Gym of the Year – in what was a night we will never forget. A fitting tribute to all our amazing members who have supported the gym for the last 30 years in Paisley and to Alex and all the staff that have made it what it is over the last 30 years.

Nikki started dancing at a very young age with The Tony Curley School of Dance. Had a very successful competitive freestyle career winning many titles. She adjudicates & travels all over the country with our competitors. She just loves the excitement of the competitive world. Along with Kirsty, Nikki runs the Glenrothes branch. Kourtney Lee KOURTNEY LEE, A.B.A.T.D. Teaches in Paisley & Bishopton Branches Kourtney started dancing at age 5 and after an extremely successful competitive career in dance, she has moved on to join the teaching staff at Dancedreams. Another homegrown pupil Kourtney has trained in all branches of dance and understands completely how we nurture and progress our students she will be a great asset to our team. Ashley has also had a successful freestyle competitive career and trained in the theatre branches before turning professional with Dancedreams. She is a very popular teacher with our pupils & parents alike. She is in big demand when it comes to her individual style & flare, she is passionate about all styles of dance.

Monklands Canoe Club consists of members mostly from around Glasgow and Lanarkshire areas, although we are lucky enough to have members from as far west as Paisley, Carluke and Galashields. Everyone associated with the Club is a volunteer and all the costs of the Club are met by the members (though we are occasionally successful in getting grants). We are affiliated to the Scottish Canoe Association, the National Governing Body for paddlesports in Scotland, and meet their requirements for affiliated clubs. Our club affiliation number is 1101. Our principal activity is paddling rivers in kayaks and open canoes. We organise river trips usually a few times a month. We make sure that our trips cater for all members in the club, including those who are beginners, experts and those with families. The trips may be specific training trips, or just social trips to give everyone a chance to enjoy the water and company.

Basketballpaisley are the biggest amateur basketball club in Scotland based out of Paisley in Renfrewshire, and play out of their home venue the Lagoon Leisure Centre. Established in 1995, we have seen great success in the top leagues in Scotland amassing over 100 national championships, more than any other Scottish amateur program currently. With membership of over 400 we are looking to further expand their reach within their local community and across Scotland and the UK. We have Gold Level Accreditation in line with Renfrewshire Active Schools guidelines and standards. In addition to this, all of our premier coaches attaining Level 2 UKCC Basketball coaching awards, or higher.

We support volunteer involving organisations with recruitment and volunteer support, and work with individuals to find them rewarding and uplifting volunteer opportunities. We also work with local charities and public sector bodies to promote volunteering for all. Our financial services social enterprise, Engage Finance, offers payroll, HR and financial services to individuals and organisations in Renfrewshire and beyond. Our space in Ferguslie Park is a community hub where we host training and networking opportunities as well as hosting other third sector organisations and charities. We are part of local community planning and actively support collaborative working with the public and private sectors to ensure that people and services are working together, in the most effective way possible. We support and advise many community agendas across Renfrewshire including Renfrewshire’s Health and Social Care Partnership, Local Employability Partnership, Future Paisley, RenSEN (Renfrewshire Social Enterprise Network), and Renfrewshire’s Youth Work Network.

Able Driving Skool is a well established driving school and has offered Driving Lessons in Glasgow for a number of years and has over 35 years experience in Driving Lessons and Driver Instruction.
