After being set up with my first kiln over 12 years ago I have experimented with many techniques, mainly self taught, but also under the teaching of my mother Dilys Fisher a talented enamelist. I feel very fortunate to be able to share my work and this unique art form. I am passionate about enamelling. The richness of its colours, the durability of something so fragile, that hundreds of years from now could be unearthed and still display its vivid colours like the day it was formed. My work can be found in several galleries and art shops. I also enjoy the challenge of incorporating someone's favourite colours in a piece, or creating in enamel something that is meaningful to someone, so I am happy to discuss bespoke work and commissions. I am based in the beautiful Forest of Dean and pleased to be able to share this craft by offering workshops throughout the year.

I studied B.A Ceramic Design through Anglia Ruskin College, Cambridge, graduating in 1999 to set up my workshop next to Salhouse Broad in Norfolk. My work has always been about attempting to capture the essence of the land - and the patterns imposed on it by Man. Between 1999 and 2007 I made several study trips to Mashiko in Japan to learn from potters such as Hamada Tomo-o, Matsusaki Ken and Kusakabe Masakazu and Euan Craig. The following year I was invited to exhibit in Osaka and then in Tokyo. Through a meeting with Wali Hawes at the Osaka exhibition I was invited to apply for a month long residency in Tokoname with IWCAT. This was an amazing experience and I was delighted to be invited back to Tokoname in 2010 to exhibit. I am delighted to be exhibiting in Tokoname once more in 2023- C19 allowing. In 2005, with a bursary from Creative Arts East to work with local Thatchers and make work inspired by their Craft, I developed a glaze suitable for my electric kiln using the thatching reed that had been discarded. Using the thatch gave my work an originality and a sense of place unobtainable out side of the Broads area. Beginning in 2017, Hoveton Great Broad was drained of silt by an ongoing Conservation project. With kind permission from the owner of the Broad I was able to collect some silt by boat. Now firing with my Fred Olsen design wood kiln, affectionately known as "Fast Freda" I developed a glaze from the silt. This then led to using the glaze with stretched forms and eventually to Soda firing in the wood kiln. Freda however didn't much care for this, so it was sadly a short lived soda romance. I continued to wood fire, with a small Fred Olsen design fast fire kiln until recently. In 2018 I was commissioned by the Dean of Norwich Cathedral to make an enormous piece candle stand, this huge piece is now situated in the Lady Chapel for people to light a small candle for loved ones. It is lovely to have work in a permanent presence in my home city and to continue the tradition of potters having work in Cathedrals. I revisited Japan in 2018, my 10th visit, this time with a fellow artist and the specific purpose of visiting the Temple and Shrine gardens to draw inspiration for forthcoming work and exhibitions. Having not quite seen all we needed to, a return trip was made in early 2020 providing me with superb images and memories. The exhibition ABSTRACT JAPAN finally took place in September 2021 at Mandell's Gallery in Norwich and was a great success.

Come and see our studio shop in Braunton's Cross Tree shopping arcade, where we sell our handmade glass crafts and run half-day workshops in Glass Fusing. Shop Everything is handcrafted in the shop and fired in our large kiln. We sell a wide range of items including; hanging decorations, driftwood mounted ornaments, wall art, jewellery, bowls and freestanding pieces (see the gallery for examples). We are regularly bringing out additional designs so keep an eye out for what's new in store. If there is something different you would like us to make then we are happy to take commissions, please contact us for more information.

I’d like to share a little about me with you. I passionately believe that everyone has the ability to be creative and love teaching because of this. I get a kick out of seeing students’ faces light up when they see a piece they made fresh from the kiln that they love, especially when they weren’t expecting it to work. I have heard too many people say, “I envy you. I’m just not creative.” including some students when they first arrive. Being creative doesn’t mean being good at art and craft. It’s soooo much broader than that (but I won’t go into that here!). For myself I love trying new techniques and pushing clay to its limits. I often get asked, “how did you make that?” even by fellow ceramicists. The infinite possibilities of clay as a medium appeals to my need to constantly evolve my work and my love of learning and challenging myself . Teaching adds another layer to that.

Enjoy creating a piece of work together in a group workshop. I charge £120 for the workshop and £10 per person taking part (please contact me for schools and support group pricing). I supply the materials and tools and support you to plan and make your project. I will then fire your work in the kiln, add some glaze, then fire it again for the last time. I am happy teaching old or young, and those with extra needs. You can have a Pop Up Pottery at your own venue (providing there are tables and space for everyone), or I can arrange a work space in Beaumaris (there would be an extra £60 room hire for this).

Doodles is run by us, Anna & Lucy, childhood friends who grew up cutting, sticking and making dens together. In May 2013, armed with a kiln, some bisque, a splash of paint and a lot of enthusiasm, we started Doodles as a mobile pottery painting business and by the end of that year we opened our first studio. In June 2018, we moved into our beautiful studio based at Baytree garden Centre, just outside Spalding and our love for all things crafty just continues to grow. We are lucky to be surrounded by wonderfully supportive husbands and families, and to have our very special Doodles family of customers and friends we have met over the years. Studio Pottery London is a light-filled and spacious workshop for all who are attracted to making with clay, from absolute beginners to more experienced potters. We are uniquely located in central London in the heart of Victoria. A place of calm and community, our carefully curated space provides a perfect environment for city-dwellers to come together to learn and create. Our classroom of 12 wheels ensuring intimate classes. Our members area is carefully designed to give the members premium space. Our resident potter welcomes members and students into his private studio for one-to-one throwing and mentoring sessions. Together, with the teaching team and technician, we provide excellent support for the studio community. Curated window and vitrine displays of historic and contemporary ceramics inspire our makers and are for sale to visitors. The community can socialise in the central area with its library, kitchenette and facilities. This space is also for talks and workshops. In the rear of the studio is the kiln and glazing room, monitored by our in-house technician.
