Hi, I'm Beth. I’m a Speech and Language Therapist from Essex, UK. I'm a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, from the UK, with extensive experience working with children with speech, language and communication needs in a range of settings including schools, preschools and clinics. I'm mum to two primary school-aged children, one of whom has special needs. I also provide a regular service to a number of schools in my local geographical area. I have a master’s degree in Health and Human Sciences (MSc), qualifying as a Speech & Language Therapist in 2009. My undergraduate degree (BA Hons) is in Linguistics and Spanish. I’m registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, the Health and Care Professionals Council and the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP). I have been the chair of my local ASLTIP group for a number of years, organising regular meetings and suporting a large group of 18 members covering a range of clinical specialisms. I’ve worked with lots of practitioners and staff in schools and preschools throughout my career and I've provided a lot of information, advice, training and support for a variety of Speech and Language topics. As well as training education staff, I also deliver seminars as a guest lecturer to Speech and Language Therapy Students at the University of Essex. These cover a range of topics, including service provision, speech sounds, stammering, vocabulary and word finding, assessment and intervention. Our Development, Training and Support offer is designed to provide essential advice and guidance to enable your church school to flourish. This includes a range of briefings, network meetings and training courses, all of which are either free or offered at significant discount to schools who are signed up to our Service Level Agreement (S4S). In addition, schools who have signed up for Governance+ are able to access all our governor training for no additional charge. Living Your Vision This is the heart of our training and support offer covering the essentials needed to develop a flourishing church school. This work to support developing your school’s Christian vision and ethos includes training for SIAMS self-evaluation and other aspects of SIAMS readiness. It also covers a series of networks and training events to develop and enhance collective worship and spirituality (including Space Makers). HeadSpace This is where you will find our support and training offer for school leaders including our series of briefings (free to schools signed up to S4S) and conferences for our headteachers across the Diocese. Termly virtual briefing sessions will provide an opportunity to hear the latest news and information from the ODBE team including updates from the Church of England Education Office, up to date learning from ongoing SIAMS and Ofsted inspections and upcoming development opportunities. A virtual mini conference and an in-person summer conference provide additional opportunities for school leaders to consider specific aspects of church school leadership – our Autumn conference will look in depth at SIAMS and its impact on school improvement. RE Central Comprises all our development, training and support for the leadership and delivery of high quality RE in schools. This includes half termly networks for RE leaders (free to schools signed up to S4S), the Developmental Thinking conference and training for Early Career Teachers. Governance This is our governance training offer which covers the key aspects of effective governance including induction, SIAMS, RE and Collective Worship, effective monitoring and evaluation, appraisal, induction and academisation. Providing interactive workshops in the community. I invite you to take part in community events whilst discovering and benefiting from Qi Gong, Meditation, and Sound Healing As well as being good for your posture and breathing! Qi Gong is recognised as a form of preventative medicine and studies have shown that those who practice it experience less anxiety and better moods. There’s no age limit, there’s no right or wrong, there’s just a desire to take part and nourish yourself in a shared environment. Qigong embraces nature and reminds us of the rhythm of the seasons. Movement meditations are designed for the physical benefits of improving posture and breathing as well as exploring internal resistance. The philosophy of Qigong is that nature is our teacher. Each session or workshop explores how to release tension, embrace change and harness the energy of the cycle of Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer. After a career in Music and the hospitality industry, I re-trained in 2010 in therapeutic sound in the community and then qualified as an instructor in Tai Chi Qi Gong. I continue to study with the Deyin institute in the practice of Tai Chi and Taoist philosophy. Having learned transcendental meditation back in the 80s, self-healing had always been of interest. Having also qualified as a masseuse I have a background in dance and a strong interest in anatomy. I continued to explore using meditation as a means of relaxation whilst incorporating sound healing and movement. My joy is working in community groups with a variety of workshops and sessions I traveled abroad in 2005 to work for a charity in Sarajevo with PTSD sufferers and took some training in this area. I felt drawn to finding ways to help people with trauma to relax and to give themselves time to heal and explore their own physical and emotional journeys. Part of finding a life balance is something we all want to explore. I found the best way for me was a mix of progression in learning as well as in giving and helping charities and worthy organisations. Here’s a list of my contributions. It’s a privilege and not always financially possible but the philosophy is that in giving we receive so it doesn’t always have to be by paying out in money.

Our business was founded in July 2011 and offers skills based training to gain on site experience increasing knowledge to progress into industry, regenerating some of the 380,000 empty spaces and empty shops across the United Kingdom. Our business offers industry placements, mentoring, advice and guidance. Up skilling the next generation of young people to help close the increasing skills gap. Our team offers a number of opportunities through industry placements on our TV programme Transforming Spaces‘ Design Factor’ featured on BBC. Since launch 8,500 young people directly up skilled of which 70% have progressed onto training, employment or Starting Up. Our construction sites are 50/50 gender split and our teams have re-generated 16 empty spaces, empty homes, heritage buildings and worked on Wales largest road scheme a £400 million programme. REAL ISSUES * Nearly 1 million young people unemployed * Over 380,000 empty spaces & empty shops in the UK *  Over 220 million tons of waste generated for Landfill * Only 3% of women in manual trades, 5% in engineering and only 2% of female owned businesses in Wales Transforming Spaces: Design Factor Our construction projects transforms empty and unused spaces through working with the community on the planning, design and build. Working with build experts and volunteers from the community it acts like DIY SOS/60 minute makeover. The aim is to up skill young people and members of the community to gain on site experience. If you have an empty space or empty building our team will work with you on the planning, design and rebuild of the space to turn it into a thriving community provision. Training on the site includes: planning, construction, managing budgets, Marketing, enterprise, business and managing the whole project. Our team and the experts will work on site for around one week to re-build the space and encourage volunteers to become involved and progress into training, employment or Starting Up. Helping people to gain vital industry experience to progress their career. The whole process is filmed and broadcast. Our build projects have included Wales First Garden City Café, The Hope Centre-Newport, Blaenau Gwent Community Hub-Waundeg, Empty Shops Project-Cardiff & Newport, State of the Art Cinema Room using Recycled Pallets- Cwmbran Centre for Young People, Penygraig Empty Shop, Newport Heritage Building.
