Wireless Education is the new training and e-learning portal for Wireless Tech Safety. We have dedicated ourselves to education and training for the safer use of wireless technology in our homes, places of works, schools and other public buildings. Cece also worked with her public library to become the first in the nation to host a film series on Electromagnetic Radiation and Health, and to put on loan a microwave radiation detection meter for residents to borrow. She further collaborated with legislators to introduce a number of bills (in Massachusetts and in New Hampshire) addressing wireless radiation and public health, and worked with her Department of Public Health to draft EMF Fact Sheets. Mikko Ahonen (PhD): Trustee, Research & Development Mikko has worked as a researcher at the University of Tampere in Finland and Mid Sweden University for over 20 years. During the past decade Mikko has immersed himself in bioelectromagnetics research. He has written many scientific publications which focus on risk-management of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) in schools and workplaces. Additionally, Mikko has conducted EMF surveys (measurements) and delivered risk management workshops and webinars for both corporate and educational organisations. He also brings experience in educational technology, mobile learning, videoconferencing and information systems.

I am an experienced consultant endocrinologist. I specialise in diabetes and have expertise in all areas of diabetes management. My particular interests are in supporting lifestyle change to manage and reverse type 2 diabetes, and in intensive management of type 1 diabetes including insulin pump therapy. I actively promote self-management and have been closely involved in the development of education programmes for people with diabetes. I am the author of several books on self-management of diabetes. I qualified from Southampton Medical School in 1985 and after a variety of junior hospital posts, I spent three years as a Medical Research Council Training Fellow at the University of Birmingham, undertaking studies to help unravel the complex genetics behind type 1 diabetes. While fascinating, the truth was that I was not particularly suited to laboratory research, and I concluded that I wanted to devote my energies to helping solve the problems faced by people living with diabetes now, rather than research the underlying genetics that might take some years to yield real results. After working at St Thomas’ Hospital in London for three years, I moved to Bournemouth in 1996 to work as a Consultant Endocrinologist at the Bournemouth Diabetes and Endocrine Centre. I stayed there for 17 years, working with an incredible team. During that time I developed my interest and expertise in self-management for people with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and oversaw the development of education programmes for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. I also helped develop a structured educational approach to the management of people starting insulin pump therapy, as well as the first (and I think still the only) open access online programme for people with type 1 diabetes, recently relaunched as BertieOnline. Around 2010, I began to explore the potential of low carbohydrate diets in people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and this forms the basis or much of my current work. By 2013, I was ready for a new challenge and left the UK to work for three years as the Director of Policy and Programmes at the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) in Brussels. The IDF is a global federation that represents over 230 national diabetes associations. In my role, I was responsible for overseeing a range of projects and programmes that addressed the various needs of people with diabetes at a global level. In 2014 I published my first book, ‘Reverse your diabetes: the step by step plan to take control of type 2 diabetes’, aimed at providing people with type 2 diabetes with the information they need to make lifestyle changes to achieve better control of their condition, and possibly to reverse it. This was followed in 2016 by ‘Reverse your diabetes diet’, providing 60 recipes to help people better manage type 2 diabetes. In 2018 I published 'Take control of type 1 diabetes' and, together with Emma Porter, 'The low carb diabetes cookbook'. In 2022, I published my latest book, 'Busting the diabetes myth' that provides practical advice on reversing type 2 diabetes and prediabetes, backed up by the latest evidence from around the world. I am based in Dorset (southern England) and divide my time between clinical work (at the private London Medical clinic and the University Hospitals Dorset NHS Diabetes Clinics), international project work (currently in Bermuda and Kenya), professional training and writing. My aim is to reduce the impact of diabetes for individuals who have, or are risk of developing diabetes, as well as on communities by supporting projects that help improve diabetes services.

Community Motors CIC was a social enterprise, set up in 2014 by Elaine and Justin Cooper as a Community Interest Company, to meet two specific aims: To provide excellent motor vehicle services to the local community and to provide opportunities for young and disadvantaged people to train in useful vocational skills, in particular motor vehicle mechanics. We saw and wanted to address the career challenges of young people who are not ‘academic’, are probably not suited for University, and who are currently not well served by an education system which is primarily measured by – and hence values - academic results over practical and personal development. Therefore, starting from an empty industrial unit, and joined by Mark and Kevin, our Garage and Training Managers, we built an enterprise from scratch which aimed to deliver practical and ethical excellence in all we did. We provided clear and consistent services and advice to our customers and alongside that offered young people the chance to gain real-world experience and accredited training in a professional working environment, working and learning alongside motivated, talented motor vehicle technicians, many of whom had overcome their own struggles when growing up. We worked hard to run and build the organisation as well as we could, building relationships with local schools, colleges and pupil referral units, as well as many, many members of the community around us, who came to trust us with the safety and reliability of their vehicles. We won both local and national awards for the quality of our enterprise, and many positive reviews and testimonials from happy customers and trainees.

From the Headteacher, Michael Scott May I extend a warm welcome to our website. Newport Girls’ High School offers an all-round education with considerable strengths both inside and beyond the classroom. We support students academically to achieve their potential, whilst also developing resilience and promoting emotional wellbeing. As a relatively small school, there is a real family-feel to NGHS and our house system affords students the chance to meet peers in other year groups and to participate in healthy competition in a wide range of disciplines. There is an extra-curricular activity to suit all tastes at NGHS and staff work exceptionally hard to provide these opportunities for our students. We also organise a number of key open events during the academic year and welcome visitors to see all that NGHS has to offer. Our curriculum is academically rigorous with all students studying two modern languages in KS3 and separate sciences at GCSE. Some students also study Further Maths as an additional equivalent GCSE. At A-level we offer a full range of subjects to enable progression to university, apprenticeship or employment. Significant support with UCAS applications is available to all. Our pastoral team, comprising both teaching Heads of Year, SENDCO and non-teaching support staff ensure that our students’ individual needs are met and we work closely with families and primary schools to ensure a smooth transfer from Year 6. Newport Girls’ High School was visited by Ofsted in October 2019 for a section 8 inspection. We are delighted to have retained our outstanding status as a result of this visit under the revised Ofsted framework.

Stephanie Burgess aka ‘Marina Red’ is an established zine creator and writer from Cheshire. She is one of the original riot grrrls, having played in punk bands throughout the 90’s. She runs her own fanzine and blog riotgrrrlzine.co.uk, which forms part of her postgraduate research into the Spanish alternative music scene, but also covers Riot Grrrl and punk bands from throughout Europe. She is an old skool paper ‘zine creator, who crafts her ‘zines by hand using collage and a mixed-media approach, creating unique pages and art which are highly representative of punk zine culture and influenced by the Washington Hard-Core Riot Grrrl Scene of the early 1990s. In particular, Kathleen Hanna’s Riot Grrrl Manifesto, which was first published in a ‘zine in 1992. She has written for a variety of online music publications, is a published writer and translator, and also runs creative writing and ‘zine production masterclasses. Currently working towards her PhD “In Search of Spain’s Riot Grrrls” for Manchester University, she has over 20 years experience of both academic study of the writers and musicians of the last century. As a hispanophile with an MA in European Languages and Global Cultures, she can draw upon her deep understanding of the function of language within the creative process and has thus developed her own technique for inspiring others to be creative in a similar way.She is an avid fan of alternative music and has an extensive record collection dominated by female musicians. She can still be found most weekends flicking through the vinyls and CD’s at her nearest music shop or dancing her fishnets off at a punk gig!

My name is Annette Barrett and I run Cook Stars Cardiff North & West. Having taken early retirement, I am now ready for the new challenge of promoting the importance and love of cooking in the wider community and decided to join Cook Stars in order to further this goal. I just loved the name 'Cook Stars'. Cooking allows every child the opportunity to shine in their own unique way and I'm so excited to be running children's cooking classes. I instantly knew I needed to be involved in this business in order to create an abundance of 'stars' armed with essential life skills. Learning to cook is such an important life skill but unfortunately over the years less and less time has been given to this subject in the school curriculum and many children have not been able to experience what they should have. Cooking has never been more important than it is now with increased obesity rates, diabetes and other food related disorders. I am so excited to be able to contribute to improving a person's health and well-being through cooking. I am married with two children, both in their twenties. They have been away at university but still want to come home for some 'proper food'!! In my spare time I like to follow sport and I am a Cardiff City Season ticket holder. I also swim regularly and recently swam the length of the English Channel for charity. Holidaying somewhere hot is also a must!

HomeAbout What happens when you pit a lifelong procrastinator against the biggest test of his life? Trouble. I’m Miles, a recent graduate from the MOT program at the University of Utah. Being a podcast junkie myself, when I was studying for the NBCOT exam I wished there had been a podcast to help me make some progress when I was driving, at the gym, or just not feeling like banging my head against a computer screen. My goal with the podcast is to make the journey I had to take a little easier for other aspiring occupational therapists. Person I’m a huge nerd with a passion for basketball, sushi and OT. I’m always on the hunt for a good Netflix recommendations. My path to OT was a little strange. I worked in tech support during my undergrad and graduated in advertising, but not before taking the pre-reqs for OT school. I love the combination of creativity and purpose in our profession and consider myself lucky to have stumbled across it before I joined the ranks of [insert PT joke here]. Environment I was born and raised in Minnesota, lived in Japan for two years and am currently looking forward to having an actual income for Utah’s next ski season. Occupation I’m currently working at an inpatient acute rehab hospital and loving it. __________________ . __________________ That’s the gist of it. Students for Global Health is an organization run by students for students. We have a vision of a fair and just world in which equity in health is a reality for all. We educate, advocate and act towards global health equity for students all across the United Kingdom, of all disciplines and backgrounds. Although our focus as an organization and network is towards global health we are also the representative body of all UK medical students to the International Federation of Medical Students, who represent all medical students worldwide to the World Health Organisation (WHO), which is the leader and governing body of healthcare services for all UN member states. This means that if you’re a medical student studying at a UK university, we represent you to the world. We have almost thirty branches at universities across the country, with thousands of members. We organize at least four national events every year, two general assemblies and two conferences. These are held up and down the country and any and all students are welcome to attend, no matter whether they are represented by a branch or not. We are one of the most accountable and professionally governed student organizations in the country. The charity is led by a National Committee, made up of individuals elected by the branches and affiliate organizations. Each branch also has a committee elected by the members at each of the respective universities. We also have a board of trustees as mandated by the charities commission. The board of trustees is comprised of professionals who kindly donate their time to provide oversight of the operation of the charity.
