I am passionate about delivering useful, relevant legal training for busy practitioners to support them in developing legally literate good practice in adult social care. I am trusted and valued by a lengthy list of local authorities to provide high quality, excellent value bespoke training to their staff which engages and empowers them as practitioners. A subject expert with specialisms in adult social care and health law and in autism, my genuine commitment and enthusiasm for improving legal literacy and best practice in adult social care is evident to those attending my training. I am able to create a supportive learning atmosphere in which practitioners with a range of levels of experience feel confident to express themselves and have the space to develop their skills and reflect on their practice. My training is very popular with staff because of the relevant content and support they receive in applying the law to practice. I am readily able to answer questions at all levels and give realistic examples to support participants in applying the law to the realities of practice. In addition to my extensive experience in developing and delivering training for the public sector, I have a particular skill at explaining complex legal topics in an accessible and engaging way. I create and deliver training on all aspects of the Care Act; Adult Safeguarding law and practice from Safeguarding Enquiries to advanced legal options for complex case work; Mental Capacity law including CoP and BIA Refresher; DOLS and LPS; aspects of Mental Health Law including s.117 and nearest relative; Transitions; Human Rights and broad Legal Literacy training for Adult Social Care. I specialise in advanced autism knowledge specifically for public sector professionals: social care staff, teachers, health staff at all levels. I bring together my extensive knowledge of autism and my familiarity with the social care, health and education sectors to support practitioners with practical knowledge such as: practical communication with autistic people across the spectrum; supporting autistic people to cope with change. Many of these courses are now delivered on my behalf by a small group of autistic trainers. I also offer specialist autism training specifically for social work (including Care Act and capacity assessment of autistic people & safeguarding autistic people.) I am also able to provide specialist courses in autism for educational settings. I offer a consultancy service in both of my fields of expertise providing tailored support, research and specialist knowledge for a range of purposes. This includes change management consultancy within the public sector aimed at service improvement: around autism and/or improved compliance with legal frameworks. In the autism field, this included a successful and extensive change management project supporting an autism special school to become a Centre of Excellence, consultancy work and outreach with a range of mainstream schools across the area, local authority and health staff and a series of videos on practical autism topics for the Scottish Government. Recent work on the legal framework of social care has involved training for a variety of local authorities, including bespoke courses and advanced training on Safeguarding, the Care Act and in the area of Mental Capacity Law/DOLS/LPS. I am currently project managing a substantial project on Inclusive Governance on behalf of the National Autistic Taskforce (working in partnership with ARGH and AMASE) for Scottish Autism. Her dad, who always had an eye for good horses, worked as a feedlot cowboy before becoming an owner and operator of cattle feeding, ranching and farming interests in Clayton, New Mexico. Her grandfather was a cowman and steer roper. Her great-grandfather was a Choctaw Indian Light Horseman. Her mother was a rodeo queen who also barrel raced and team roped. Her grandmother was a World War I nurse who returned home and broke horses on the family’s dude ranch.Charmayne grew up at her dad’s feedlot in Clayton. She took ballet and piano lessons, but her favorite activity was riding. Attending schools in Clayton, she was an honor roll student and excelled in art, basketball and track, but was always anxious to get home from school to ride.Charmayne learned to ride bareback on an old cowpony called Redbug, and was always trying to keep up with her older sisters who had begun running barrels. As a member of 4-H, her projects included steers and horses. At age 10 her horse Creamer was named Grand Champion Gelding at the Union County Fair. She had trained Creamer to run barrels and that year won her first All Around Cowgirl title riding Creamer, a borrowed rope horse, and her sister’s pole bending horse.Charmayne and Creamer receiving awards for Grand Champion Gelding at the Union County FairKnowing her horse Creamer was not fast enough to win bigger barrel races, Charmayne wanted another horse. Her sister’s barrel horse, Bardo Deck was for sale, so her Dad bought him and turned the high strung former California race horse over to Charmayne. After a couple months of constant riding alongside the feedlot cowboys working cattle, chasing antelope across the vast grasslands, and many trips around the barrels, Charmayne and Bardo were winning nearly every area barrel race they entered.Late in 1981 Bardo broke his leg in a tragic accident and had to be euthanized. Charmayne was heartbroken. That winter she buried herself in school activities while telling her parents she had to get another horse. In the spring of 1982, after taking Charmayne to look at horses throughout the 5 State area, her dad, partly out of desperation, told Charmayne he liked a little bay horse down in the feedyard horse pens that was for sale. Charmayne countered that she had to have a race horse, but agreed to try the little bay. Before Charmayne got on him, her Dad told her not to kick him out at first because he was known to buck. Charmayne got on and after a few bucks she circled back and put him around the barrels. The two were an instant match. Charmayne paid $1200 for him with the rodeo winnings she had saved while riding Bardo. Her Dad said that was way too much money. They named him “Scamper” because of the way he scampered around the barrels.Scamper had never seen a barrel, but had an excellent handle on him from all the feedyard riding. In the spring of 1982, after two weeks of training on barrels, Charmayne and Scamper won their first barrel race. That summer they won numerous barrel races and amateur rodeos in New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. That fall Scamper was kicked in the hock by another horse. Their vet recommended turning him out for six months with a 50-50 chance he would come back sound.In April of 1983, when Scamper was 7, Charmayne began riding him again. At a vet checkup, after seeing Scamper’s ringbone, splints, and enlarged hock, Charmayne was told she had better get another horse going because Scamper “was not going to last”. By that summer she was winning amateur rodeos, sometimes by a full second. After entering with a WPRA permit, and winning the barrel race at the PRCA Dodge City Roundup Rodeo, Charmayne told her parents she wanted to start going to professional rodeos. They told her that was alright with them, but she would have to pay all her own rodeo expenses. When her dad asked her if she was going to try to make the National Finals Rodeo, she replied “No, I’m going to win the NFR”. She purchased her WPRA card later that year and began her professional rodeo career. This began one of the most amazing rodeo careers in history.In 1994, after winning an unprecedented 10 World Championships, 6 National Finals Rodeo Championships, and over $1,000,000 in arena winnings, Charmayne retired Scamper. Her ability to care for Scamper and keep him running at the top of his game for over 10 years attests to her knowledge and talents. This was a phenomenal feat for the horse that “was not going to last”.After retiring Scamper, Charmayne continued to achieve the eluding and difficult accomplishment of qualifying for the next 6 straight National Finals Rodeos with several different horses. In 2000 she qualified for the National Finals Rodeo and was Reserve World Champion with Cruiser, a former race horse she had purchased for $2,000 at New Mexico’s Clovis Livestock Auction and trained to run barrels. In 2002 she qualified for her 19th consecutive National Finals Rodeo riding Cruiser, winning her 7th National Finals Rodeo and 11th World Championship Title.

Her training started by assisting Miriam Bartholomew (her mother and top hair and makeup artist in Cape Town S.A) for beautiful hair and makeup, as well as Dulcie Bebe in Australia for Makeup and Hair training with Toni and Guy London after studying specialist hair colour training with David Bartholomew ( her dad) Nominated in Sydney Australia for colourist of the year for Wella international. Victoria continued to work in film, fashion and commercials in the hair and makeup industry in cape town, Sydney and then returning to live in London for 5 years before moving to West Yorkshire then Liverpool. Her love of film grew and she embarked on a series of courses through Raindance Film in Soho, completing the Directing for Film and Producing course while working for them. This took her onto her next challenge choreography where she worked at London’s premier dance school on Oxford street London Dance works and learnt from the best contemporary dance teachers what works for theatre, film and music video’s understanding the different dance disciplines from ballet to hip hop. Following all of her incredible achievements, Victoria then decided to pass on her hair and makeup knowledge to the next generation and completed her Diploma in Teaching while lecturing as the lead makeup tutor for Riverside College in Cheshire up until August 2016 and from then on went on to create Global Makeup, Hair and Productions Academy Ltd.

The Huddersfield Town Foundation was officially launched in July 2012 by then Huddersfield Town Chairman, Dean Hoyle. The launch of the Foundation created further initiatives to benefit young people across the Kirklees community, such as trips to the Play-Off Final games at Manchester United’s Old Trafford (May 2011) and Wembley Stadium (May 2012), with almost 2,000 children attending. These trips offered families a rare opportunity to create lasting memories and enjoy the game free of charge, with tickets and travel paid for through fundraising activities such as bike rides from Huddersfield to Wembley, the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge and ‘It’s a Knockout’. With a remit of improving the lives of young people across the region, the Town Foundation created the ‘Early Kick-Off’ Breakfast Club initiative to ensure that children started their learning day in school with a healthy and nutritious breakfast. The first breakfast club launched at Christchurch Academy in July 2012, with the charity harnessing the football club’s unique position within the community to pull together several charitable businesses to provide this at no cost to the children. The Foundation now proudly facilitates 41 Early Kick Off breakfast clubs across the region and has served well over two million breakfasts to local children. In April 2016, Julian Winter was appointed Chief Executive of Huddersfield Town. With a strong background in football club community operations, and after setting up community departments at Sheffield Wednesday and Watford, Julian was keen for HTAFC to have a strong and thriving community programme, which complimented the existing community offer. In December 2016, the Foundation’s Memorandum and Articles of Association were expanded to reflect a new focus on empowering ‘ONE CLUB ONE COMMUNITY’, irrespective of any protected characteristics. In addition to fundraising activities, the Foundation turned its focus to five key areas: Trust; Sport; Inclusion; Education and Health. In an unforgettable display, David Wagner led Huddersfield Town to victory in the 2017 Championship Play-Off Final and promotion to the Premier League. Working in collaboration with the Football Club, the Foundation has gained access to funding from the Premier League, which has dramatically changed the landscape of our reach within the local community. As demand has grown for products and services, so too has the staff body. The Foundation now employees over twenty staff. The staff team has since moved from working at hot desks dotted around the Club’s training ground, the Millers Oil High Performance Complex to our own office facility situated within Leeds Road Sports Complex. The Huddersfield Town Foundation now strives to use the power of the Football Club to engage, inspire and have a positive impact in our local community. We feel we can have the most impact in four key areas: Learning & Education, Health & Healthy Behaviours, Safe Spaces & Places and Movement & Activity.

Eleanor’s career path has been firmly rooted within the disciplines of Drama, Dance and Music. Having initially trained as a ballet dancer at the Royal Academy of Dance, London, under the instruction of June Mitchel, Eleanor went on to gain a degree in Music, specialising in the voice. Post degree, Eleanor’s work has taken her into the film industry, television productions, modelling, a singing residency in Mayfair and even a record deal. Equipping pupils with the skills to build self-concept through communication and expression became a driving force for Eleanor. She was among the first group of postgraduates to be awarded the Royal Academy of Dance’s Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies, and Eleanor is currently completing her MA Education (Drama). Alongside her pedagogical studies, Eleanor taught Drama, Dance and Musical Theatre at a further four independent schools in Ascot for over a decade. She and her wonderful team currently deliver the co-curricular Performing Arts provision at 7 schools and colleges within Surrey and Hampshire. “I have an immense passion for teaching and feel privileged to have such an enriching career. Through my teaching, I strive to make the studio a fully inclusive, inspirational environment in which students can develop and have their talents nurtured. Continued professional development is critical in the evolving world of performing arts education. CoCo has a team of staff and volunteers dedicated to building confidence, self-esteem and support positive lifestyle changes in young people via the conduits of education, sport and culture. Our staff have a background in mentoring and life coaching, project management, social inclusion, vocational training, and sports coaching. Our community based values are manifested in our training activities in the classroom, and our team activities which take place in positive open spaces and parks around Brighton and Hove. CoCo works with a variety of local organisations and stakeholders to achieve its goals and deliver its activities. For example, we work directly with youth clubs, Job Centre Plus, and youth/employment networks (Brighton’s Women’s Centre, the Chamber of Commerce, Brighton and Hove Youth Collective, and The Platform) to engage directly with young people that are interested in career planning, job search, our vocational courses, or sport team building activities. We also have close ties with sports clubs such as Hassocks Tennis Club, Preston Park Tennis Club, Pavilion and Avenue Tennis Club, Preston Panthers FC, Withdean FC and Patcham FC. With these clubs we organise team building events, joint sports days and in house training to develop soft and employability skills via sport. Our team has worked with hundreds of young people across Sussex to provide vocational training, mentoring and employability training. Our reach is growing and in 2017 hope to reach even more young people. Specifically, our qualified staff provide VET courses such as City and Guilds Level 1 Principles of Coaching Sport, Level 1-2 Employability Skills and Level 2 Travel and Tourism Destinations. We also provide Coaching and Mentoring Sessions with a qualified life coach, cultural activities and overseas team sports tours in Europe. Our aim is to support young people not in employment, education or training, aged 18-24, early school leavers now long term unemployed, general unemployed young people, and we place special emphasis on the participation of young women and the more socially excluded members of society. We use our links with local colleges, the local authority, community groups and youth networks to support young people into vocational training, improve their confidence and support them into further vocational training, work experience or employment. Is it merely to pass exams so we can get to the top schools and universities? Is it to enable us to further our careers? Or is it to help us become well-rounded, independent thinking, confident individuals who are then able to take a full part in society? “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” (Nelson Mandela) I don’t claim to have all the answers, but after more than twenty-one years as a teacher, in both, the maintained and the independent sector, (and eight years in the advertising and publishing industry prior to that), one thing is clear: We get one chance and one chance only at education, and teachers get one chance with us. I set up Millie-Whizz to provide an individual, holistic approach to teaching, to complement the excellent work teachers do in schools because sometimes this is not enough. It’s a numbers’ game, after all. The idea was not to provide tutorials which simply focus on doing paper after paper, question after question, in the hope that something would sink in. Millie Whizz is a tutoring service that explains the whys and hows so that pupils not only learn what method they should use to solve a particular problem, but they actually understand the reasoning and are therefore empowered to apply that knowledge. The ethos of Millie Whizz is based upon helping children and young adults to overcome difficulties in their learning so that achieve great results in their school work, their exams and in life. Sometimes it is their fear of learning; sometimes it is their lack of motivation; sometimes it is boredom and lack of inspiration. So it follows then that a person who is happy in their learning will want to learn more. This leads to success in all areas, not just in their education. Feeling successful gives us an enormous boost, which leads to increased happiness and ultimately, to freedom. So how can we apply this freedom to education? The knowledge and understanding pupils gain, empowers them to experiment with formulae and arguments so that they begin to question the “What if…?” Tutoring is not just for those who struggle, but it works equally well for those who need to be stretched in their thinking so that they reach their full potential. If you do what you’ve always done and in doing so, achieve the same level of success each time, wouldn’t you want someone to show you a more effective way of maximizing your results? With global economies opening up and highly qualified people from all over the world wanting a piece of the action, there will, undoubtedly, be more competition than ever in the jobs market in years to come.
